Hell I've seen similar sized bells as 15 in rural areas of japan in old small wooden gazebo like structures holding the old bell just a foot or two off the ground. In fact I would like to have a similar bell of my own like that. Mounted low in a pagoda just a few feet wider than the bell constructed out of concrete and steel I beams so it will still be standing 500 years from now, specially if I put it in a remote wooded area like my grandmas house.

There's actually one bigger that the Tsar Bell, The Great Bell of Dhammazedi which at 300-320 tons is nearly 50% heavier. Unfortunately it's currently lost at the bottom of a river; after a Portuguese Warlord stole it from it's temple to have it melted down into cannons, the ship thankfully sank taking the bell with it - and theoretically preserving it from destruction - but the bell's actual location is still undetermined, so finding it and returning to the temple is still a dream for right now.

I have often wondered as to how they cast such huge bells. It must be in one go, it can’t be cast in stages. How is the mould made. Would like to see a video of bell casting in full.
They are cast in one go with a large amount of preparation or the cast fail which happens sometimes. The molds are normally to main pieces one inner mold and the outer mold, and the cavity between the two is the bell when cast. The hardest part is making the designen like text and pictures so that they transfer to the finished design. Make a bell especially a big one take a lot of time and good chunk of skill.

I think you may have made a typo, Great George is not the 2nd heaviest Bourdon bell in the world but the UK, discounting the Olympic bell, Great Paul is the heaviest and if you type it in RUclips you will see my video of it ringing in 2000. So apparently there is a sweet spot that you want to have struck when ringing the bell. Techs make sure that the striker is mounted properly for the best sound. Once these bells are run for years on end, that inside part of the bell wall starts wearing down. Many large old bells are high up in massive complex towers and trying to get a tech up there to rework the bell wall would be nuts and a crazy process to complete en situ so the bells get rotated depending on how much "mileage" and wear from use that they get. That way the wear pattern stays nice and even and you keep getting to hear that lovely sound and not some crazy thunk or something. PS: that Deutscher bell really should be better cared for. Did you guys hear how dull it sounded and see all the dust fall off?

For me these are the last big bells with a really beautiful and harmonic sound: 3:07, 4:02 and 5:33 . You can get credit for making a really big bell, but if you're not careful, it will sound like a giant soup pot out of tune. Also where's the pummerin? Maria Dolens? Salvarorglocke from Salzburg?
Poorly researched. I know of two bells that are larger than your No. 15 and are not mentioned - Pummerin in Viennas St. Stephens Cathedral (20 tons) and Concordia 2000 at Kronplatz in South Tyrol (18 tons). So if you're doing a "15 largest something" Video, just do your homework.

There's actually one bigger that the Tsar Bell, The Great Bell of Dhammazedi which at 300-320 tons is nearly 50% heavier. Unfortunately it's currently lost at the bottom of a river; after a Portuguese Warlord stole it from it's temple to have it melted down into cannons, the ship thankfully sank taking the bell with it - and theoretically preserving it from destruction - but the bell's actual location is still undetermined, so finding it and returning to the temple is still a dream for right now.

I have often wondered as to how they cast such huge bells. It must be in one go, it can’t be cast in stages. How is the mould made. Would like to see a video of bell casting in full.
They are cast in one go with a large amount of preparation or the cast fail which happens sometimes. The molds are normally to main pieces one inner mold and the outer mold, and the cavity between the two is the bell when cast. The hardest part is making the designen like text and pictures so that they transfer to the finished design. Make a bell especially a big one take a lot of time and good chunk of skill.

because the bigger they are will have a lower frequency and weaker sound, that is why those Church bell did make louder and clearer sound.
@@jxmai7687 That's actually wrong... Just because you might not be able to perceive super low bass frequencies as loud, there is still plenty of sound pressure to royally screw over your hearing. Earplugs are cheap insurance. Once your hearing is gone, it's gone, and it's never coming back.

@@lose8447 well, it's pretty natural: Guineith's husband got on the top of the hill and it turned out that the bell both with him were on the relatively same height (to sea level), much higher than London's noise and bleating scottish sheep. Distance between them was also minimal while at the hill (on the ground it is triangle's hypotenuse, whereas on the top it is triangle's leg).

yes they made a mistake there, the greek monastery is very close and both sites are dedicated to the Transfiguration so while they were looking for footage they found this clip and thought it was the greek monastery,but they should had paid more attention..

@@nasribassous9994 ;-) ,a bonus fact...the bell in that Greek monastery that is mentioned in the video, is suspended from a metal stracture made by a Greek firm, they only make small bells and other stuff (croses-lights-automations) for churches but they were chosen to make the structure and the electric mechanism for this bell because they really wanted to make something outside of Greece and so they made the best offer (or maybe the cheapest)

Come and visit Liverpool Cathedral in the UK to see some heavy metal! The largest change ringing bells in the world surrounding the second largest Bourdon bell in the world - Great George. All bought and paid for by one man, who's ashes are in a casket in the ringing room.
I think you may have made a typo, Great George is not the 2nd heaviest Bourdon bell in the world but the UK, discounting the Olympic bell, Great Paul is the heaviest and if you type it in RUclips you will see my video of it ringing in 2000.
Most of the bells on the video sound like crap anyway.

"World Peace Bell" in hwacheon(right next to DMZ) in South Korea is 37.5 ton. It is made of bullet shell from 60 countries that had history of conflicts.
Pretty ironic considering how many millions the South Korean totalitarian government killed before and after the Korean war, just ask the poor people of Jeju

So apparently there is a sweet spot that you want to have struck when ringing the bell. Techs make sure that the striker is mounted properly for the best sound. Once these bells are run for years on end, that inside part of the bell wall starts wearing down. Many large old bells are high up in massive complex towers and trying to get a tech up there to rework the bell wall would be nuts and a crazy process to complete en situ so the bells get rotated depending on how much "mileage" and wear from use that they get. That way the wear pattern stays nice and even and you keep getting to hear that lovely sound and not some crazy thunk or something.
PS: that Deutscher bell really should be better cared for. Did you guys hear how dull it sounded and see all the dust fall off?

For me these are the last big bells with a really beautiful and harmonic sound: 3:07, 4:02 and 5:33 . You can get credit for making a really big bell, but if you're not careful, it will sound like a giant soup pot out of tune.

I know of two bells that are larger than your No. 15 and are not mentioned - Pummerin in Viennas St. Stephens Cathedral (20 tons) and Concordia 2000 at Kronplatz in South Tyrol (18 tons).
So if you're doing a "15 largest something" Video, just do your homework.

The Wanamaker Founders Bell at Philadelphia at 17 tons, and tonally low D. Hangs in the campanile at the top of the John Wanamaker’s Men’s Store. It tones on the hour from 8:am to 8 :pm. I know, not very famous anymore,but Philadelphia was swanky City once. It’s a dump now, but the remnants of the 19th century will give anyone pause.
