Honestly, my favorite Kanyon program, was the "New Jersey Triad" with him, DDP, and Bam Bam Bigelow. They were awesome together! Should have had a longer, bigger run!
The triad was getting popular, so I guess Kevin Nash and the other WCW writers destroyed their little run. Bigelow mentioned it in a shoot, before he passed.

Little off topic for this upload, but Cornette's slow aew face turn. Imagine if it could've been an on screen plot with a Cornette on screen invasion angle with old school vs new school. Especially with the new signings (Punk, Bryant) real wrestling vs modern gymnastics.
I have a suggestion. This Thumbnail's Artists, Maurice Freeman and Travis working together on all thumbnails. Travis does the concept, Maurice draws in this anime style!
The North Korea one was baffling how Scott Norton was so shocked why they hated Americans. It's like dude, your government dropped more bonbs than they did in WWII, incinerating 5 million people, mostly civilians. North Korea was for more progressive than the authoritarian shit hole of South Korea and all that progress in infrastructure was demolished. I'm not American so it just shocked me how little an American could know about that history. Up there as the most stupid I've seen someone be on television.
I knew about the fact Kanyon was gay, and felt bullied by the Boy George skit, and his sad suicide, but I was unaware of how close he and Mitchell were, that was heartbreaking how much James cared for the guy.
Different episodes serve different purposes though. Evan and Jason were on a podcast recently (this one? I listened to a few in one week tbh) talked about aiming to tell the emotional story between the people behind the star we all know and love and not necessarily a specific event like the North Korea trip or the plane ride from hell.
He was such a talent. A shame he had that lisp. I couldn't have cared less about his lisp but he could do so much in the ring. Loved his team with Wrath. Liked the martial arts they added into their style, but wasn't a fan of the "Mortal Combat" story line. I actually liked the Mortus mask, but the rest of the outfit was overboard.
I am all for free speech but I am a bigger fan of keeping my mouth shut when I have nothing nice to say. So when it comes to the guest artists supplying Corny with some really good thumbnails while Travis is sick then maybe some of you guys should do the same. Love the guest artists' work and hope Travis gets well soon
For a good period of time Kanyon was my favorite wrestler or at least one of them way back when and I'm glad he's getting some much deserved respect. I remember the Boy George thing baffling me because he was being used well before that bullsh*t!
Glad Jim called out john cena out for saying he wasn't good in the ring like come on we all know chris was the better wrestler and im sure that disappointed jim to hear cena say that cause jim always praises john cena
Nitro, Labor Day in like 97 me and my buddies were front row and my friend had a sign that said “Wrath+Mortis+Glaicer=Gay” It’s not excuse but we were 16 and this was a different era. When they came down the aisle Mortis stopped, read the sign, drew back and spit a massive loogie at my buddy. He got the sign up just in time to block it. When he came out we were horrified. It’s just horrible to know you had a part in making someone feel like that. It’s been over 20 years but it still sucks knowing the guy was suffering like that.
I do feel bad that Kanyon was hurt by your sign knowing the deeper reason for it. But a teenager carrying a childish sign to a wrestling show isn't anything to feel too guilty about. That was such a casual type of insult back then, and also one that many if not most wrestlers probably got and it wasn't coming from a place of real hate, in your case obviously.
Also, recall that wrestling itself back then included a lot gay-as-the-butt-of-the-joke angles. So it's not like a teen dude watching this stuff can be expected to be more sensitive and conscientious, lol. (Personally, I don't even think all those angles were done with hateful intentions - more cheap and maybe tacky bids for laughs if anything. But that was then, and our culture has moved on a bit from that now.)
Kanyon was a good worker despite what Flair said about him. And a great guy too. Made more positive actions on his finger than Flair ever had on his own body.
I guess Jim missed the part where the Young Bucks talked about their relationship to him, including a very dark part about a 45 minute phone call where he was threatening to kill himself to one of them. They definitely had a personal connection of sorts.
I was at a WWE show once and Mortis was the dark match! It was SO random. But I think if he could’ve gotten a serious run in WWE as Mortis I think it could’ve worked.
Well he was originally supposed to return as Mortis actually, and how was this planned?, If you look at the SmackDown Magazine from 2003 its shows a photo, information about him returning
I know this is said often about people, but Kanyon was literally ahead of his time. His arsenal of moves is modern, him being gay wouldnt be an issue today (Anthony Bowens, Kenny Omega [kinda lol]) he had amazing charisma and even though it isnt where it needs to be, mental health is treated better than it was in the 90's. This was a huge tragedy. Rest in peace Kanyon.
Who is the new Artist? I know Travis Heckler is sick or something but I've heard around three or so different artists names but none can make up their minds about who is doing these superb pieces.

I've said this here before , Kanyon was one of the best wrestlers to do. He used to always do really cool maneuvers and was pretty righteous on the microphone . I never understood when I was younger why he never got the big match even though he was great going back to his Mortis days . Unfortunately as an adult I can understand , but only imagine the reality of the situation . #whobetterthankanyon
Positively Kanyon was hilarious. He was a mega talent. He was very good in the ring. He could portray many different chatacters. Could have been bigger with a little better writing & booking.
The offensive moves Kanyon came up was ahead of it's time. Was a huge fan. And the last image of him on national TV was getting a chair wrapped around his head. The Invasion MVP deserved better.
First off speedy recovery to Travis. Loving the guest artwork for this week. Killer good! Now Kanyon...My heart broke for the man during this episode. Sad the struggles he was going through towards the end. If only back then he could've gotten more than just medication. I don't understand why Flair couldn't call him Kanyon on Stern after the interview and tell him the truth if it all was just a front he putting on defending WWE. Of course Taker is untouchable but you can't help but say damn how much did he know at the time since he has such a close relationship with McMahon. If he knew the segment on Smackdown was a gay bashing session...
@@thebigz3786 not talking about the chairshot, it's much bigger than that. To the point Jim and others brought up during the DSOTR episode it came off like a bad form of hazing.
@@THERCWRSHOW maybe. Though you have to take into account that Kanyon came out after he was fired, and the only person he told, was Sinister Minister. Who found out Kanyon was gay and told WWE? How did they find out? Then you have to remember Kanyon wasn't a main eventer, and was doing segments like this in WCW.
@@thebigz3786 You also have to remember that the WWF treated ex-WCW wrestlers like red-head stepchildren after the buy out. They gave DDP a creepy stalker gimmick, and they made him look like a complete jobber. And they made Booker T look like a total buffoon and he became basically Shane McMahon's lackey during the Invasion angle. If two of WCW's top stars who were multiple time world champions were treated that way, then it's not surprising that a guy like Kanyon who never reached that level of success was treated the way he was. Still the optics of forcing a gay man to dress like Boy George, and then having him get beaten down with a steel chair by a 6'10 biker from Texas is a bad look for WWE. But it could have been and probably was a coincidence, because as you said most of the people in WWE didn't even know Kanyon was gay at the time. As a gay guy myself who also suffers from depression and other forms of mental illness I would like that think that WWE isn't homophobic, but either way it's not a good look for them.
@@SpinosaurusTheProudSocialist first off, I'm sorry that you're going through some tough times. I have two lesbian aunts and a gay uncle. To the matter at hand, I think its just the timing of everything once the buy out happened, surely they couldn't make WCW guys look better than WWE guys that soon, although I wouldn't have made some of the gimmick decisions the WWE made. However, DDP did go on to win a title at WM 18, and Booker T eventually became a world champion, and KOTR. They just had to get rid of that WCW stigma over time. I don't think Taker bullied Kanyon, because people in DSOTR said Taker liked him.
Kanyon was one of my Boyz. He was a guy I grew up watching. He was amazing could hold a Intercontinental Title forever on my card. Just don't search for the hentai version
If only it actually looked like Corny...
never thought i'd see Anime Corny
John Cena: Apologized to China over Taiwan.
Also Cena: Stabs a wrestler in back for Vince.
Jon Xina XuX
That was 2003 Cena. I don't think that version would be apologizing to China. But now he's an actor and wants to cover all his bases.
You guys act like everyone is supposed to know Taiwan is a country, this is not a history class. Kanyon was not great.
Cena was in a no win situation, also Americans need to stop acting like they’re perfect.
@@3venflow22 If youre not ignorant, yes.
I remember his interview on the Stern show and feeling for him. He was always one of my favorite workers growing up. I think you were always great and deserved a push or run as a higher level competitor, RIP Chris.
That was 1 of my all time favorite hs episodes especially when artie lost a baseball bet to him n artie had to make out with blue iris rip chris
man those were the good ole days of Stern. Artie was funny as hell.
I think Kanyon and Matt Jackson were really close friends. A 19 year old Matt Jackson had to convince Kanyon over the phone not to commit suicide. Scary story to hear.
Too bad
Which is funny because Matt is morally against gay people....
@@jeffreyklima7612 I don't know what Matt's personal stance is but one of the biggest misconceptions a out Christian's is that we hate gay people. We are taught explicitly with no way of misunderstanding that we are to hate the sin but love the person. You don't have to agree with every aspect of someone's life to be able to still love them. You are not a true Christian if you hate anybody for any reason and sadly there are a lot of self professed Christians that just don't get this. Hating people even when they've done you wrong is a deal breaker
@@stephensanders8572 Matt is an evangelical Christian, he's been very open about that. So yes he hates gay people.
@@jeffreyklima7612 Interesting because Kenny is Bi and they come across as very close friends.

Psychiatrist: Anime Cornette doesn't exist. He can't hurt you.
Anime Cornette:
I loved Kanyon in WCW he was a highlight to me as a kid. Loved DDP and Kaynon. I am sad he ended up taking his life something tells me he would be great in the current WWE/AEW landscape. RIP Chris Kanyon!
My new favorite artwork. Gives me anime and boondocks vibes.
Anime sucks tho
Cornette as Col Stinkmeaner would be great lol. I'm sure he'd like the Boondocks

WWE did nothing to him, he sucked
@@OongTheLastAirbender obviously not a wcw fan. Mortis, Raven's flock, Jersey triad, he was alot better than when wwf screwed him
Did WWE do something illegal that we don't know about or did they not see him as anything more than an enhancement wrestler?
Yet wwe does they punish wrestlers all the time for personal reasons and its petty af..vince is a pos human being.
Sad how he passed. Going to check out that documentary now. Thanks Jim 👍
I’m glad corny said kanyon was better in ring than cena. I agree
This. And, as C.M. Punk said, there is one thing that Cena is WAY better at than 99% of other wrestlers - kissing Ol' Vinny Mac's ass...
Episode was decent. Another one kinda like the Korea one. Nothing was said in this that wasn't already something out there.
@@dielawn87 it wasn’t a Korean War documentary lol

The Kanyon Cutter angle was genius.
The Cover art upgrade is impressive on all the new Videos.
LOVE THIS ARTWORK!! We need more Cornime!!
Yet ANOTHER bad-ass piece of artwork, looks just like a comic book!
I really like this particular art, perfect for the clip. Poignant.
I saw that Boy George Kanyon segment live and even back then I thought it was stupid
That was a burial.
Beautiful artwork. Great stuff on Kanyon!
I love sinister minister and lol at Jericho's reading ability. This was a touching dsotr
For a good period of time Kanyon was my favorite wrestler or at least one of them way back when and I'm glad he's getting some much deserved respect. I remember the Boy George thing baffling me because he was being used well before that bullsh*t!
Kanyon was way cooler than Cena and better in the ring.
9:51 there's our little tax deduction😂😂😂😂
hahahahahah when he dressed like ddp and gave everyone in sight the diamond cutter that was priceless lmao even the camera men n staff
The Young Bucks were on it cause Kanyon was friends with them and helped them when they were starting out.
I guess Jim missed the part where the Young Bucks talked about their relationship to him, including a very dark part about a 45 minute phone call where he was threatening to kill himself to one of them. They definitely had a personal connection of sorts.
Omg when he said Kanyon was better than John .🤣Made my day !!
Man, that animation. I love it.
what animation? i didnt see anything moving
From the Looks of Things, Heyman Was LEGIT Horrified by the Amount of Abuse 'Taker Put on Kanyon
Just hearing Jim's voice crack as he started to talk about the Boy George skit
Ik everybody loves the regular artist who does the art for these videos but these new guys have been great.
The young bucks knew kanyon earlier in their career. I think they mention in their book about Kanyon hitting on them or something.
This new art is so great. It’s so nice to see hand drawn ART, real art

How is it hilarious?
BEST THUMBNAIL YET
I've said this here before , Kanyon was one of the best wrestlers to do. He used to always do really cool maneuvers and was pretty righteous on the microphone . I never understood when I was younger why he never got the big match even though he was great going back to his Mortis days . Unfortunately as an adult I can understand , but only imagine the reality of the situation . #whobetterthankanyon
I hate depression for people. Poor souls.. .
The artwork is so awesome, I cant focus on listening
You missed a good period where that farm kid constantly dog walked undertaker LMAO 🤣.
I love this new art work! I loved the other artwork too but these are also very cool
Positively Kanyon was hilarious. He was a mega talent. He was very good in the ring. He could portray many different chatacters. Could have been bigger with a little better writing & booking.
College educated, he left his career for wrestling. In my opinion, made the best choice.
People over react to that chairshot. Plenty of guys got hit like that from time to time.
The 2 aritsts need to collaborate IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Kanyon was one of my Boyz. He was a guy I grew up watching. He was amazing could hold a Intercontinental Title forever on my card. WWE or WE would bring him back and do what they did just for the simple fact at look how they have handled other talent and how they treat them before they go!! It's wrong. Innovator of Offence R.I.P ✌️💐
Fantastic new artwork
I was shocked John Cena said Kanyon was not a good wrestler. His face while he was saying it wasn't selling it. Terrible they would 💩 on Kanyon.
It was a tiny lisp but fuck didn’t dusty Rhodes have a lisp. As far as his New York accent I didn’t hear it but maybe because I’m from Jersey I’m use to it. This story broke my heart he was so young. RIP Chris. Who better than KANYON NOBODY!

This thumbnail is fantastic
I love the artwork...Stan Lee (Rip) vibes
I like the original art styl. But this art is damn good
Was he in the Judy Bagwell on a pole match?
Great episode but I disagree with the last part...it's not true that the YB and Cage had nothing to say and where there just because. Cage talked about how he was trained by kanyon and the matches in the indies and the YB talked about traveling with him and him almost taking his life when on the phone with Matt...so not really there because they where fans. Still great talk (and lovely art)
VO requires a pace and a cadence. Sometimes, yeah, it gets in the way of sounding natural or enthusiastic.
The best kanyon story line was when he turned on DDP and was dressing like him and had the book with a brick in it lol
You know who better then Kenyan no one he was good and ahead of his time
