3:00 I don't know why but the shot of Anakin watching the Y-Wings fly overhead doing their bombing run always gets me. I bet he never could've imagined seeing sights like that when he was just a simple farm boy on Tatooine
This entire arc was not only inspired by the Vietnam War, but they also had guest crew (Walter Murch) who worked directly on the film "Apocalypse Now" working on this arc, namely in sound design.
In essence umbara was essentially the republic’s Vietnam, local resistance with unnatural tactics that a conventional military struggles against all the while you can’t even see who you’re supposed to be shooting at
Something i noticed at 1:07 is that umbaran camouflage is kinda like vietcong camo. Their uniform alone doesn’t look like it would blend in with anything but around their surroundings it’s actually effective. The faint glow to their helmet and gun looks like the foliage, especially since the rest of their uniform is grey which blends with the fog
It’s called panicking... it’s something real world soldiers also do... kinda hard to know what exactly you should do when the enemy is literally RIGHT ON YOUR BACK and you were expecting them from a different direction
It's not even panicking the reason he couldn't shoot back was because the at rt have to turn on to give him his side arm it's like a built in holster@@terrencemoldern2756
Enemy infantry attacking you while you’re resting tends to throw you off. Not to mention trying to hit a small fast moving target that can kill you with a single touch is difficult, especially with how close it was.
something that bothers me to this day about this scene. why are they in a trench facing a single direction... in a place like this it would be common sense to set up a circular perimeter around which you face outwards at all directions.

"I love the smell of rhydonium in the morning..."
It smells like… victory.

Luke was the simple farmboy. Anakin was the slave
I like how in this arc it showed them with Anakin first. So we are freshly reminded how he works with them vs how krell works with them.
Krell got what was coming for him. If Anakin was there, he would’ve mutilated him.
Truly, this is the clone wars vietnam.
100%
No that will the battle of geonosis
@@andytorres6052 Vietnam with no trees
Geonosis is more like D-Day @@andytorres6052
Nope that will be the battle of jabiim
The airstrikes are like the same tactics in the Vietnam War
Exactly!!!

Broken Arrow, “We Were Soldiers”
This whole campaign is space Vietnam
0:55 that’s the first time I noticed fives in the back being like wtf?
I didn’t see his face at first so I just thought he was starring a burning hole through Rex

Literal shadow people
Gooooooood morning Umbara!
I love that last shot with the whole squad, Anakin, Rex, Fives, Hardcase and Tup
"Sending in an Eagle"
Helldivers Malevelon Creek Eagle Air Strike be like
All those shots and they couldn't hit that Scutiger droid. Also, that clone at 1:39 should've shot that guy before getting on his AT-RT.
