DUDEEEEEEEEE yeah now that makes sense why palpatine specifically contacted rex personally (as he did with cody in the movies) & gave him special orders on ahsoka despite her not being a jedi
I think the main reason for the independence of clones in the 501st is due to the close contact with Anakin, Obi Wan, and Yoda. The three of them encouraged independence and their differences. Even in the 1st episode (I think) of the clone wars, when Yoda and 3 clones have to fight off a platoon of droids, Yoda himself see's each clone as completely different and unique in the force, and encourages their uniqueness, as that's what sets them apart from droids. But Obi Wan, and especially Anakin, heavily emphasized individualism and independence. Not all Jedi's do, even towards the end of the war. Many treat the clones as just another number, but our MCs know better. It’s moments like these where I will never understand why people are so adamant that inhibitor chips were a better retcon vs having clones retain their autonomy. There’s a genuine negotiation between what’s right and orders from an authority. There is so much room for amazing story telling but order 66 is boiled down to “the chip made me do it!!” Why wouldn’t the chip be able to do the same thing here?
Chips were apart of the canon lore so it’s annoying and ridiculous to see so many free, independent clones walking around. It’s even lazier writing to ignore previously established conventions in favor of a more “morally grey” storyline. Moral grayness and complexity can be good but it does not always translate to being a good story.
While I don’t agree with you about not having chips at all but I do agree that it’s kinda dumb how the chips are really only used to make them obedient to take out the Jedi and that’s really it.
I agree completely. The tragedy of the clones is lost, the moral dilemma of a good soldier vs a good person…the point in Legends was an allegory for WWII and military indoctrination as a whole. By making the chips a thing, they ruined half the tragedy of Order 66 that the show itself was supposed to be building towards. Having clones choose to execute the Order and live with the guilt was always more interesting and had more story telling potential than the huge plot hole that was the chips.
@@warlordofbritannia people forget just how much of a tragedy, and how scary, reality is. I’ve had people argue that it’s hypocritical to argue against the chips because the argument goes; chips = mind control but no chips = mind control through conditioning so it’s all kind control anyways!! checkmate!! But those people fail to recognize that there’s still room for choice to be made at an individual level without the chips. You said it yourself; good soldier vs good person. The chips remove all agency and all chances. You don’t lose necessarily lose it all with mental conditioning. There’s still a chance to come back.

Dave on the other hand fails to think through many of his creative decisions, only to realize he made a mistake years later.
So, what's the deal with the inhibitor chips now in this show? Have their effects worn off on most clones by this point? Does Wolffe not have one, because he seems to be acting like his normal self compared to how Jesse was in the Clone Wars finale? I haven't gotten this far in the show yet. So, I wasn't sure if they'll eventually explain it or if they already gave an answer and I perhaps missed it.

The Commandos are training the first generation of Stormtroopers. They also guard top-secret, susceptible areas and operate in high-value missions. They are this era’s counterpart to the Death Trooper and Dark Trooper.
I like to partly think how wolffe and his troopers acted like they did is because of the clout/respect the 501st and rex earnt in the war especially if you include the original battlefront 2 campaign journal nartion where it says the 501st got the best of the war but also the worst. If you're a soldier in the same army and know the records anyone who survived in the 501st legion would have the respect deserved from any and all
Probably shortly after the show he leaves and joins Rex, Echo, and Gregor. I imagine after this confrontation with defector clones he reflects on Order 66. Now, Wolffe wasn't the one who killed Plo Koon, that was Captain Jag in an ARC-170. But it isn't unlikely that he was also on Cato Neimodia and maybe so were a few other Jedi who he might have started a search party for, being a commander. I honestly think we will probably get another animated spinoff series set after Bad Batch but before Rebels, about his Clone Rebellion, how Wolffe joins, how they presumably fail, lose Echo, and end up where they are in Rebels, alone.
Captain Rex: You're hunting a child... Vader: I killed them. I killed them all. They're dead, every single one of them. And not just the men, but the women and the children, too. They're like animals, and I slaughtered them like animals. I HATE THEM.

Sidenote, but it’s writing decisions like this that really make Filoni the successor to George, for both good and ill. They’re both idea guys with a tendency to constantly retcon and stumble on the details.
With George, he sucked at writing dialogue and directing actors and contracted tunnel vision at other times, failing to recognize that what made sense to him wouldn’t work the same to the audience. Dave on the other hand fails to think through many of his creative decisions, only to realize he made a mistake years later.
Hemlock theme..
Its odd seeing Rex without his pauldron
So, what's the deal with the inhibitor chips now in this show? Have their effects worn off on most clones by this point? Does Wolffe not have one, because he seems to be acting like his normal self compared to how Jesse was in the Clone Wars finale? I haven't gotten this far in the show yet. So, I wasn't sure if they'll eventually explain it or if they already gave an answer and I perhaps missed it.
i haven't watched this show and I might be wrong but I think the chip isn't at play here maybe. Jesse was acting up because he was following protocol 66 and Rex was conspiring with a Jedi. I think they're just their normal selves here
@@pinkloverpreychips wear of with time but imperial commando we see in the show (not the hillo commando near wollfe) are loyal
i didnt see this episode. can anyone explain to me why there is commando there alongside the clones? what his purpose?
The Commandos are training the first generation of Stormtroopers. They also guard top-secret, susceptible areas and operate in high-value missions. They are this era’s counterpart to the Death Trooper and Dark Trooper.
fan service
I’ve watched this scene a buncha times, but not the full episode. Is that particular commando clone more a shiny?
You've got to watch the whole series! It's fantastic!
we need a series for rex and the other clones...
This should have been a way bigger deal that it was treated as.
Bataille des plaines d'Abraham
I like to partly think how wolffe and his troopers acted like they did is because of the clout/respect the 501st and rex earnt in the war especially if you include the original battlefront 2 campaign journal nartion where it says the 501st got the best of the war but also the worst. If you're a soldier in the same army and know the records anyone who survived in the 501st legion would have the respect deserved from any and all
In Rebels Wolf removes his chip and joins Gregor and Rex. When did this happen?
Will wolfe get his chip out
I don't think it matters now since the clones are developing stronger morals
@@skywolfx76its gives a clone independent rational think
The chip already serves it purposes and burnt out once order 66 was executed
Where's Comet 😢
who’s that commando on rex’s ship?
Gregor
What's the synthwave music that plays at the end?
Blue Loop by Stiig
Captain Rex: You're hunting a child...
Vader: I killed them. I killed them all. They're dead, every single one of them. And not just the men, but the women and the children, too. They're like animals, and I slaughtered them like animals. I HATE THEM.
This should be called Omega and the Bad Batch since everything is about Omega.
I hope wolf see’s echo again
Ever since plo koon died
Wolffe knows about Echo?
I want to know how he joined Rex in Rebels
Where’s Ahsoka
I am confused do they have chips or not seems like they don't
They would’ve worn off by now
Why are they letting them go?
Because he respects Rex and the other clones as his brothers. Rex convinced Wolffe to do the "right" thing, and he decided to let them go in an honorable manner.
for fuck's sake when will lego make more bad batch sets I want a lego clone resistance. maybe it's for the best, GCC products are superior lol
Lego did sw dirty
Wolffe is a jerk (never liked him since he stunned Ahsoka), but at least he did the right thing here. I hope there's a third Clone show so we can see how he left the Empire.
He should have said open your eye instead of open your eyes

…wasn’t Rex part of Vader’s Fist? Why’s he gone rogue?
Clone wars
Im sorry, but i hate this entire retconning of the clones.
It's much more brutal and intresting, if it's not a chip, but simply bred into them, that they don't question orders and so on.
That would also make it much more meaningful, when some clones turn to "good".
Honestly, this doesn't make sense if wolfe's inhibator chip activated. Take a look at wrecker when his activated. No thoughts, just pure follow orders. So the fact that wolfe is even talking to rex let alone let them go away really doesnt make sense.

Wrex got demoted in rank by Jesse during CW episode victory and death, leaving him a captain once more.
@@AzureMckay threaten to demote verbally, but all of those in board would have gotten killed including Jesse before the proposed demotion would have been filed and made official.
So according to official record, Commander Rex would have died with the crew on a crashed venator.
Still a Commander all thanks to good timing.
@@alexloponte7056 commander, watch the last season of clone wars. (Was threatened not officially demoted, all involved died in a crash)
Hey guys about the commandos are the clones inside the suit or StormTroopers -anyways they have the sound module for a clone and the stormtroopers sound different to those commandos > share your thoughts below 👇
Nice plot point that goes nowhere in the show. Time was better spent on filler
why didntt they use the same animation for rebels. i cant watch rebels cos the animation is too shaite
I really hated that they killed Nemec. Something that the clone wars did right (half the time) was clone plot armor wasn’t stupid. I mean ridge survived with Rex, when Cody faced grevious one of his brothers survived too, it’s just really annoying that somehow the characters of the story are just fine & the others become fodder. Sure, kill off Samson & fireball but really, everyone but our main gang? Just seems stupid & lazy.
