Thank you so much for this video. Your message reminds me of what my former therapist said: Anxiety or fear is the overestimation of the threat and underestimation of your ability to handle that threat. She said to me: There is no situation or event that you cannot handle or accept. So true.
This video is one of my staples, I have watched it many times and will continue to do so. Simple is not easy, that made a difference for me. I think Ive been expecting the hardship to go away and to live in blissful state. I can only thank you sincerely for the help you are giving thousands if not millions.
Thank you for this Video. I think this is the most important message i've ever heard. I'm dealing with worrys and fear and panic for years and by watching this video it feels like a ton of weight fell off of my heart and i can think clearly about all this. Thank you very much. Greetings from Austria.
Bianca I’m so honored by your comment. This reminds me of why I’m doing this in the first place. Thank you for watching and for allowing me to be on your team! DrPaul
I couldn't help to laugh when I heard this on the video and with the laugh a realization that, yes, we all have to deal with this extremely hard thing called death. Hope you are well
Dr. Jenkins! You are amazing !! Some Julia Kristina markets herself and makes zero sense. She needs to learn from you. But you are AMAZING! THANK YOU!!!!!!
Great discussion. A lot of new insight gained. Thank you. Once I was driving down a road at sunset. There was a deer standing frozen with fright in the road. Fortunately it jumped out of the way. Fear is meant to alert us to act to avoid danger. It is not meant to freeze us in inaction and get harmed. That's why I appreciated the example of actually walking the boy through his fear to a point of understanding. Helpful imagery. Thanks.
This video is fine at the time you made it nearly three years ago, doing a video about worry and anxiety today about the world crashing down all around us is a whole different ballgame.
Catherine Malloy, thanks for watching it, yes, our world is constantly changing and that is why I like to identify principles. They are true no matter what is going on, but how we apply them can change. Thanks for commenting.
It should be every primary and secondary childs right to have some time to learning these valuable emotional life skills in your videos along with social skill learning. This would solve heaps of hurt etc later in life.
I have found that listening to these vids, Dr. Paul, helps set a good intention 👍 to the start of the morning routine. Covid pandemic is taking a toll on trillions of people and animals all over the world. Heavy work in keeping things in perspective. Thank you 💚 for all your video's. 😀 I bookmarked quite a few that target what I need to keep working on. 🇨🇦
That was excellent, thank you for your help. I really appreciate it and look forward to seeing more of what you have to say about anything quite frankly.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Gosh! This was powerful! 💯 The stories help put the practice into perspective. I also appreciate when you talk about how you helped your clients work through an issue. You basically answered my "what" in what does a psychologist do to work with a client. "You Got This!" 🏋️♀️ The truth is you can handle it.👍 💪 🇨🇦
Yes! Exactly, there is a predictable exit strategy to this earth life, we are all gonna die and its harder on survivors than the one that dies. We can all handle all human experience because we’d have to deal with anything that comes our way, even death.
Hi! First thank you for great and informative explanation! I have been wondering why we are for example listening music and watching movies that trigger sad and anxious feelings but somehow also act as some sort of self help tool.. After this explanation about limbic systems combination with experienced control I am now wondering coul this psychological mechanism be behind that experience also? I hope I managed to make my point clear enough, as English is not my first language.
Brandon Davis, hang in there. There are ways to let go of the anxiety. It takes work to re-program our neural pathways to respond to situation differently, but it can be done.
I target most of the videos to parents, I do have a teen playlist and you could go through there and see what might apply. I like it when parents and kids watch the video and talk to each other about what they saw.
This must be why people guess my age at roughly half what it is on a regular basis. Stress and worry are a waste of energy and I've known that my entire life.
When I was a child I always asked, "What if..." to nearly everything. I was in a constant state of fear growing up but my parents thought it was cute with all the questioning. I wish they'd gotten me help because I also had horrible OCD about praying I would go to heaven if I died suddenly. It was a verbally abusive household and my parents argued a lot and they pitting siblings against each other. Now as an adult I see that I never got over asking "what if..." and I still do it and am living in constant background fear. My cortisol is through the roof and I'm depressed and scared to get out of any and all comfort zones. It's a sad place to live when you ask what if constantly and your brain always gives negative answers and can't believe in positive results.
You make too much sense. I think I need to watch this over and over and over..... worry is my middle name. 🤣 I’m fairly certain this is in my genes... lol

Will you please do a video on overcoming loneliness? 🙏
Great suggestion. I have added it to the topic list. We may have come out of a pandemic, but loneliness was there before and after.

Thank you
