- A cold and wet December day is not ideal to take the 196mph Porsche 911 991.1 GT3 out for a test drive. what's it like to drive and did we make it back without having an accident?

One of the most iconic 9IIs of all time. I think non club sport, comfort seats and manual for me. So hard to find that in a tasteful
spec.
This is a lovely car with a fantastic options list. We were thrilled to take it in !
This particular model the 911.1 gt3 had finger follower issues after the engine fire issue. This is the reason why porsche granted the car a 10 year warranty which is not mentioned in the video. Porsche made many new engines models under this warranty but the finger follower issue kept coming back. Users on the rennlist forum, which is where the issue have also been documented by many owners of the car, discussed a design flaw with the hydraulic lifter system of the car. This is why for the 991.2 gt3, porsche switched to solid lifters to avoid another finger follower issue and warranty extension, as well as a lawsuit.
There has certainly been plenty of discussion surrounding the engines. It's actually the longest guarantee ever issued on a car engine I believe and owners can maintain a warranty beyond the 10 year point using the Porsche warranty scheme. My understanding is that a lot of problems stem from engines regularly going into the very upper limits of the rev range. This particular car benefited from an engine replaced under warranty with the later generation of replacements.
God!! I'm glad I went with Anthracite Brown Metallic on my GT3 touring which is about to be built!! such a rare colour, and soooo much nicer in the flesh. Great informative vid as always!

Nice accurate balanced review -similar to the 991.1 GT3 spec I had with 18 way seats and I found good mix of road and 3 or so track days a year
Great review and beautiful example. I learnt the hard way that the buckets are definitely not for me in a 718 GT4. The best looking seats ever but I was quite seriously crippled in them and found the lack of compliance jarring. Thanks for this and I’m looking to forwards to watching the 991.2 review 🎉

@@911virgin8 it has and I now have a 991.2 GT3 with sofas and PDK which incidentally rides as well as the 991 T it replaced. Amazing compliance and far from the bone shaker the internet would lead you to believe. Wonderful machines!
Glad to hear that. I guess the "bone shaking" is all relative. For someone who likes old Jaguars or maybe Rang Rovers all Porsches are seen as bone shakers.@@WFOSA67

Beautiful example, well presented by Henry. Not an aggressive driver but can appreciate how it might light up a dull December day.
As you say, not the iseal weather / day. Also this is going to be someone's car when we sell it so I'm respecting that fact. We would never want the new owner to be unhappy with how we've driven it.

Lovely spec car, colour, brakes, seats, belts. Nicely under the radar but hugely capable. Take my money for that any day of the week.
It is indeed a very well optioned car. Not sure I'd call it under the radar though. The spoiler on the back and the GT3 badge give things away a little 🙂

No, it's factory paint. We tend not to sell wrapped cars because we have no idea what's underneath the vinyl
