Ep.261 A close affair with Stingrays and Margarida gets bitten - Sailing Grand Cayman

- Опубликовано: 12 сен 2024
- In this weeks episode Margarida gets something big on the line and starts winding in, did we get Christmas dinner!?
Also my friend Doug is crewing on a HH55 Catamaran so we go visit him and give it a bit of a review. Whatever anyone can say, it is one fancy catamaran and very expensive.
We couldn't end Christmas day without taking Margarida to swim with the stingrays. Wish requested is a wish granted but Margarida wasn't expecting to have a close affair with the stingrays and ends up with some nips. And lastly, Doug discloses to us that he is in love with one of my old crew. Watch to find out which one of the girls is while I take you on a trip down memory lane and look at some of the antics of the Scandinavian crew series: bit.ly/2PAPnny enjoy people!
Give it a thumbs up if you liked this episode!

No man alive , or woman, can forget Sal. One of the benefits of being a long time subscriber is those memories. That's some good look'n sand Peter.
Peter, there are many types of stainless steel. Leaving the fancy specialize ones aside there are two main groups, the 300 series and the 400 series. The 300 series have among them the known 316 ss and others, these are alloys that do not have iron there for the oxidation (rust) is not red, bur there are soft. The 400 series such as 410 ss are alloys containing a bit of iron so the oxidation is red. The iron is added to produce a stronger alloy that can be hardened. In order to reduce the corrosion (oxidation) a surface treatment can be applied to 400 ss series, it's called passivation and what they do is to remove to a certain depth all traces of iron and carbon so contact with the oxigen in the air and water will not show as red oxidation. Because this treatment is only on the surface, all areas of ss that rub (friction) with other assembly components tend to scratch their surface exposing the material beneath where the passivation process do not reach and producing the red colored oxidation. also excessive polishing will wear off this treated surface and cause to rust. From Tampa always enjoy your videos
Would you say this is more of an owner maintenance issue instead of a build quality issue?
When I first saw that it was almost 29 minutes long I almost didn’t click on it. But I am glad I did. What a great clip. Enjoyed every minute. Margarita has so much young energy and your narrative is super. Keep it up.
Plucky what a great memory of those wonderful girls! Those were GOOD times indeed! Good on ya for reminding us of them😍...nothing but quality😜
Wow what a stunning cat.. So many thanks for the tour 😮💜💯
Sound's like it would brake up in time.. To complacted.. Simplicity is the key
BEST EVER FISH FEEDING CLIP ! Greg from Australia
I love Margarita fishing. She's such aittle dynamo and its hilarious watching her order Peter around on that net. Love it
Margarida, for being so afraid of the rays, you certainly looked brave to me. Peter, another great episode. Thank you.
Freezer Anchor.....funniest narration so far! Well Done!
Lisa was the reason i started following this channel We 🇸🇪 are everywhere.. 😂⛵️✨🇸🇪✨
Another top notch Video. Nothing but quality. Maybe put a "video shot in May 2020" overlay in the beginning, as some of our calendars have been completely scrambled by COVID lockdowns and time lost...
You guy's make my day so full off laughs during the Covid pandemic....CHEERS and thank you from Chatham Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
Lol “He’s trying to slot Margarita with his slice!”
Awesome Plukkster,Thankyou
I'm with ya Peter, people are not thinking about the 1% of their sailing career that could be that huge storm that sends a huge wave through your aft "sliding glass door"! Whoever thought a sliding glass door was a good idea for an ocean going vessel?! One of the reasons I'm so into para anchors as opposed to drogues, boats are made to take seas from the bow, even boats with big strong bridge decks and companionway doors don't want huge seas filling the cockpit. Like you said a huge wave fills the cockpit with literally tons of water... a very dangerous sitch! I'm glassing in two 4" PVC pipes for our cockpit scuppers in our Crealock. Dig your vids, like your style dude. Peace!
I remember Sal. She was ex military I believe. I always enjoyed the different crew you picked up while re-provisioning . 😂😂 Those girls were so lucky to have met you that day. 👍👍👍
Sal was a small slice of heaven! Don't think she ever got the memo on swearing. LOL Those were some good times on LongReef. Enjoyed seeing the Stingrays. They can be aggressive. That cat was something else. Nice way to Spend Christmas! Thanks for the adventures.
I’m miss looking at the coral and lovely sand
Subscribed....and thanks for answering my question on your previous video. You guys are great.
Thanks for the walk down memory lane, them diving off the back of the boat was funny as hell!
I loved watching those episodes with the four girls .
They were awesome young ladies.
Xmas ?
These videos happened before the COVID series. 9 months behind real time, give or take.
@@bobadam7021 Sooo, what happened to the buddy that liked the one woman?
Brian McIntyre nothing, as far as I know. His love is unrequited, as is mine.
"I'm a one slot slice guy" and "you never know where that slice has been... peeeeeeeople" 😂
Nice work. The Stingray has good taste.
Peter you're pointing out the same problems I have with seawind catamarans
Margarida always has such a lovely smile...
Had been waiting for your upload... awesome
Ball cam 😂🤣😂😂🤣🤣💯
That was a nice Horse-eye Jack that Margarida caught! Not my favorite food fish, but mixed with rice it can be good.
I was waiting for Plukky to snap and avenge Steve Irwin with his buck knife and some native dialect after he tried to slot her with his slice. I love listening to you yell at Peter Margarida haha! Hope yall are well!
Sting Rays aren't dumb. I'da bit Margarida too. Lucky fish...
I wonder if slice's cut was itching and that's why it got so touchy with the healed wound. Maybe small parasites. Just a hypothesis.
Beautiful cat and wish I could afford it. I would not worry about a wave breaking the doors as much as a person doing it. What a phenomenal design and hope Doug gets the few bugs out that come with new boats/designs.
Those were crazy times with all the girls on board. 🤪🤪🤪🤪😄😆
I agree with you on big Cats like that. I think the new Seawind 1370 is going to be a nice one. Perfect for one for guys if someone wins the lottery.
Glad to see you guy,’s back on the sail. Stay free and breath easy. We all enjoy your video documentaries on your adventures in life together. Looking forward to your, Tahiti videos once you get there.
Always
Entertaining, LOVE YOUR CHANNEL
ROFLMAO
Sal and the other girls were a hoot! Sal was built like a rock, a very fine rock I might add. I believe she got her sailor mouth from being in the military and most likely got her build/muscles from the same place. lol.
Splice just wanted to hang with the cool kids!
Another great video! Only 3more months till xmas again 🙄😵
Also I've noticed there's 2 types of cats, the ones designed for crossing oceans, and the ones designed to sit in harbour and look pretty with a weekend trip here or there just to remind everyone your still a rich bastard🤣🤣🤣
Stay safe guys x
“Machine gun” 🤣😂😅👌👌
My 2 cents worth...after hearing about the dream to cross the Pacific with Margarida and being concerned with seasickness have you tried or tested out whether a swinging bunk could help remedy seasickness in a seaway. In the old days They were used in military ships for seafarers. I did some research and found this reply on just this idea. I’d love someone on a yacht to try it out and report back on it’s effectiveness... Re: Using a hammock during a sailing passage
I spent 60 days cruising on the US Coast Guard Eagle. All of the cadets slept in hammocks, below deck, that were hung fore and aft. All of the hammocks swung side to side in a rolling sea. Even though they were only 12" apart, the hammocks never touched one another. I slept like a baby....even in very bad weather » 😊 enjoy!
Dougie fresh you lucky dog!
Plukky, you lucky dog.
Slice, you lucky dog.
"Looks at all that sand... wonderful, wonderful sand... "
Hold on plucky! You never finished telling the story of whether you told Sal about Doug’s penchant for her. I waited til the end no less, for that impeccable quality I’ve come to expect. Gotta know!
Btw, Doug’s pretty cool dude. You’re lucky to have a bud like him.
Love the Amarula!!! If you haven't tried it you should.
Stingray city is a blast!
Chris from Sailing Britaly has a seasickness remedy that I’ve never heard of. Put ONE ear plug into either ear. You should give that a try
That Big stingray likes the taste of margarita, just like margaritas on the on the beech 🏖
Old cats rock!
Thanks for another video on your time sailing before the quarantine. Ever since you did the last two live videos, Margarida is missing. Lately, I get the impression: A. Margarida flew the coop, B. Margarida went back to Portugal to work. I'm thinking it's probably A. Part of this is also because I noticed friction from Margarida towards you in the videos. You also highlight this point in your videos. Margarida probably went through a lot before the quarantine due to seasickness and during the quarantine because of financial realities. I hope I'm wrong but you seem like a guy that can handle adversity and that's always a good thing. I look forward to seeing more with or without Margarida of your sailing adventures. Peace.
I caught two wahoo just north of West Bay right outside the reef in January. We were trolling a small Rapala in about 300 feet of water. We were in a tiny little boat. Cayman is my favorite place in the Caribbean.
Plucky, you motivate me to do more and be better... keep at it!
You can see my buddy Jerry’s boat in the back ground in the Sting Ray city part of the video.
That fish curry looks delicious.. you've just inspired me to make a chicken coconut curry, yum..
You are funny and Sals a honey!
Nice video but take the rod out of the holder when reeling in a fish and you'll find it much easier. Pull up reel in
Sal is unique. One of a kind loves life character. Oh and downright gorgeous.
There are SO many types of stainless steel! You have to find out what alloy that you like and then make sure that this it the alloy you get. You are not so interested in strength or hardness, but just rust resistance. Austenitic SSteels are inexpensive, strong, and quite resistant to salt water, but there are even better ones if price is less important. 304 and 316 are common, but they do pit around salt water. Maybe something like 904L, especially if you might ever want to weld on it would be a good choice.
Watch out Peter, she looks just a bit too comfortable on that monster cat.
Eating small shrimp stripped with a little lemon and salt would be delicious. Eating them alive is way past anything I would do. Happiness is not about the biggest boat is it. It seems like it is more about your attitude towards life with what you have. You guys have that. I enjoy every episode!
Let's not forget the Italian girls.
How could you?
timinwsac - Or autistic girls... “How Dare You”.
Great Stuff!!!
hilarious ,,, love it
When trying to get past any censors - I prefer to say 'defecating masonry' instead of passing bricks.
Love the content - best of luck to you all.
Someone got hammered :)
"When Margarida sticks the fish, I'm sure she's not thinking of me" says no sane husband!
Great video guys 👍. Nice catamaran to bad he’s a Habs fan. Go Sens! 😝
A vintage episode . Ball cam . Hickies And a soiled mattress , I thought you were swapping yachts with Doug though 👍
Sal. She was the best the bravest the funniest and all round lovely person and don't forget she's very good looking too
Hi Plukky. I just came across this. Didn't know they exist. Get Marg a Fish Finder. Happy Marg, happy Plukky x
Hand feeding stingrays.... Rather foolish. If by accident that barb cuts you, !!!!!!!!!. You do have a valid point though about the large glass doors. That is exactly what would happen. A solution, install a heavy nylon netting at the back which could be deployed in rough seas and should a wave hit, the net breaks up the wave. Make sense?
That was a nice harbour and vessel very clean looking . Just a little over my price range also lol
@04:46 "look at all the mansions, peeeeeeeploe, nothing but movie stars, corporate CEOs, and members of the porn industry, right here people!!" Plukky impersonating Sir Attenborough when describing Cayman island's "fauna".
Wallaby is humourous
Fantastical
Nice anchorage
@4:55 -- "Just Do It" by Houses on the Hill. Awesome band, awesome song.
Have any of the Seawind cats ever had an issue with waves bursting through the glass doors?I doubt it! Whatever makes you feel better
It is just one example of the flaws and there are many of them.... Many flaws allows mother nature an opportunity
M no one can predict a wild animal including me. In the situation with the stingrays I would try to be very still. Most of the stings happen when people step on them. They are not aggressive although they do get very excited when receiving free food. God bless you two. Be careful!
Don’t worry about a wave overtaking the cat. It’s fast! They just sail way from them!
Appreciated the Canada shoutout
I think your right about cats, takes a lot of extra work to make them safe in Blue Water storms. One was pretty much ripped apart just south of Hawaii recently. Yes, I remember those times with the 4 girls, and then went into the mini series with the accident and that's when I first saw Margarita. Oh, and a little joke for Plucky and Margarita... Do you know why Popeye’s pipe never rusted?
He kept it in Olive oil.
@Adventure Ticket Anything of value to add to this discussion ?
Cats versus Mono's. Got any thoughts ? Much to do about nothing. not worth reading.
@Adventure Ticket You are obviously a sick ducker? Did I say that correctly?
LOL Peter, you could run full speed in to that glass all day .. you would only break your face.
Did they really eat that, Jack ?? I hope not cats won't even eat them !
The cat is amazing and all but that’s too much comfort for a life of adventure..to me
That stingray was really interested in Margareta. Did she pee in the water, you would ask. Lol... and Peter you was down stream. oooooohhhhh noooo.
Peter do you really believe that a wave in a following sea would go over the back?
I know you have loads more time on a cat than me but it always seemed mine just floated up over them.
I assume you mate with the cat has sent you off home , nice boat and they lift there bums hight to rogue waves
Love the videos
The new GoPro Ballcam - well done.
hahahaha the good old days.
Love this video. Stingray City is awesome. Those large creatures are intimidating. Took me a while to enter the water and I was forced to kiss one for good luck. 🍀
Part of the 6% right here. -Dave Vancouver.
Wooohooo Canadians rock
Margarida has great Fishing skills , you should let her fish more often husband!
I was on a boat holiday (large sail boat with about 40 people) in a storm in Iceland and we had a a massive wave crash through the back bifold doors filling the main cabin with 12 inches of water. The girls were packing it
That does not sound fun
Homes to movie & pawn stars 🤣🤣 you forgot off drug lords mate
I have a question Peter... What boat you sailing man? ❓❓⛵🙋♂️
A home made boat that is sinking
"The stainless we are getting is terrible." --- Peter
Jacks are great eatin´ Mon!!!!
"Exciting n scary at the same time ". That's like a lady takin one up the trades-mans isn't it Plucky ,lol. Great vlog as usual n gotta say it makes a change from a lot o boat work that's going on on some of the other very inferior channels .
Many fanx to yas
Fair winds n followin seas
:-D
dude what anamial dont want a bite of margarita lol
How far behind are your videos? Christmas in September lol? No Covid?
Well if its Christmas it was December 2019.
That was contaminated stainless. It’s easy to not have that happen. Stainless tools and not touching stainless steel with iron will prevent that.
You had my ROTF again. Then you showed Sal and pals. Vickie, Lisa???? I can't remember the other two just Sal and Vi,kie. Which one of these girls died in Morocco or Monaco? Thanks.
12:04 then replace the flat windows with bubble shaped windows and voila, problem solved!!!
