Dr. Giacomucci; Do you realize what a powerful tool this information is? Imagine frontline staff, social workers, eligibility workers, housing support staff etc. were introduced to this? You have the "First Aid Kit" for staff not in the clinical field that deal with people experiencing homelessness. The information provided here will support the frontline team to better serve. It could help change our mindset of people that are "homeless". In my humble we, in the past have treated people experiencing homelessness like modern day "lepers". I sincerely am grateful for what you have shared here. Thank you is an understatement! I pray this is just the beginning of what you are doing. Great things to come! Natalie
During and especially after my long-term sexual abuse when I was 16, I improved in several things. Became vegan, started working out, started reading self-help books... But during just 6 weeks of light sexual abuse when I was 22, which was in a place I couldn't escape from, I broke down, developed anxiety, depression, sexual dysfunction (most devastating thing), abruptly left school, ended my relationship, started isolating, started eating junk... only now 11 years later I'm starting to recognize everything that happened. I didn't realize for this long. And I was the type of person saying about others "why is she coming out with this information after so many years?!"
I am an unusual case of recovery from drugs and crime you're very long traumatic life, in 2009 I went through some very harsh adversity, and came out of the other side the most high functioning person in my family. At one point I was the most emotionally and mentally Disturbed person what's in 10 miles of myself. I kicked them doors everyday is a 9 to 5:00 job.
Thank you for this🙏 I experienced the worst trauma of my life right before beginning to work with a group of clients post their trauma and it saved my life to repeat the important lessons regarding trauma over and over and witness who I call the most powerful people I have ever met overcome with flying colors!
I practice the philosophy of Nietzsche. That which has not killed me has made me stronger. As Othinn impaled himself to the World Tree to gain power, so have I pushed through pain to become more powerful. The fires of our suffering can either burn us to ashes, or become the crucible that allows us to reforge ourselves into something stronger and better. I have chosen the latter.

Love the 5 domains of growth screenshot. Defo have all 5 but it seems there must be more missing so on to more videos... sorry to be critical but the throat mic x lip smacks were awfully distracting from the substance. Offering your book for free is super generous. Keep up the great work
Hi Roman, the stats I pulled are from various research studies in the academic literature. See comprehensive list of references in chapter 9 of my book which you can access free online here - link.springer.com/book/10.1007/978-981-33-6342-7

Yes! It is such a helpful reminder for us as therapists/professionals to apply the same lessons we teach our clients!
Great explanation Scott, would love to see more on PTG and related concepts
Thanks Zachary! I will make a note to create more similar content!
Very good information. Helps us reposition our perspective when we focus too much on the struggles. There is hope.
