What a great thing to do, checking those four versons of this song. Helloween are one of the favorite bands of my youth, growing up in Germany in the 1980s. Now Lovebites are one my favorite bands, and it is so great so see them playing a Helloween tune.
To appreciate the differences it might be helpful to know that the original album version was released in 1988, so there is almost 30 years between that and the live version. Pretty impressive to think what Michael Kiske is still capable of after this amount of time. Also, few metal bands (except Iron Maiden) would have integrated orchestral or synth into their music in the 1980s.
After several lineup changes, separating and reuniting, Helloween are now a 7 piece band with 2 vocalists and 3 guitarists, but vocalist Andi Deris did not appear in this particular song.

Great comparison and reaction ! Miyako's piano recital of "Eagle Fly Free" is from her debut piano EP "Étude Op.23" which contains her reimagination and translations of 6 famous rock/metal songs. She mentioned that she wanted her EP to showcase how closely related metal is to classical music.

"Eagle Fly Free' is a classic of European Power metal, and the LOVEBITES cover absolutely did it justice. I wish LOVEBITES did more covers. So, it is definitely not thrash metal, it is power metal.

This is drummer Haruna's favorite band and one of Lovebite's inspirations along with Iron Maiden. Both Helloween and Lovebites first met at Germany's Wacken music festival back in 2018. Haruna and Miyako went to Helloween's concert last year in Osaka and met them backstage. Also Miyako, bassist Markus, and others spent time at a bar.

Thanks for the reaction. In June 2023, Miyako's solo EP (piano) was released.
    EP 'Etude Op.23':
    - СD:
    'Battery' (METALLICA)
'Far Beyond The Sun' (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN)
    'Eagle Fly Free' (HELLOWEEN)
    'The Loner' (GARY MOORE)
    'Burn' (DEEP PUEPLE)
    'Addicted' (LOVEBITES)
    - DVD:
    'Eagle Fly Free' (Music Video)
    'Addicted' (Music Video)
    'Inside The Piano' (Documentary)
In November 2023, Miyako gave two solo piano concerts in Tokyo. In which Miyako played all the songs from her EP on the piano + songs from LOVEBITES ('Empty Daydream', 'Liar', 'The Everlasting') + 'Through the Fire and Flames' (DRAGONFORCE) + classical pieces by F. Chopin and S. Rachmaninov
In October 2024, Miyako also had two solo concerts.

The long build up in the live version is on the album too, it’s just a separate short track called “Initiation” that opens the album. Also, on the half step down live… that 2017 performance was almost 30 years after the album was released. Not uncommon for older singers to lose something off the top of their range.

    1. I’m certain the similarity between the verse and Yankee Doodle is intentional. I think the whole song is a pastiche of American patriotic music.
    2. Miho does tapping on bass in “Holy War”.
    3. I thought it was cool that both groups include a Dean “V” electric guitar in their equipment (Miyako’s is like “The Miyako Edition”)

Originally Helloween had 2 guitarists where 1 of them, Kai Hansen also did vocals.
His is more like of a Dave Mustaine style. More gritty, but they wanted a more clean one, leaving the thrash/speed metal style, then go for a more melodic style. With the addition of the 18 year old Michael Kiske, one of the most talented vocalists at the time (So good that Iron Maiden at some point, was considering him as a replacement for Dickinson). With Keeper of the seven keys I was Powermetal born. Kiske was 20 when Keeper II was released.
At this point Helloween was about to break up. Kai Hansen wasn't very happy with the softer approach to metal. I've heard rumours, that he wrote their biggest hit "I want out", as a reaction to it.
A year later or so he left to start his own band Gamma Ray. They brought in Roland Grapow.. But you knew instantly it wasn't the same band and new material didn't stick with the fans.
It affected sales and popularity. Kiske became a bit sour too, so he was forced to leave Helloween,. On top of that their drummer Ingo got depressed, and started to "live the rock life" to compensate and selfmedicate. Sadly it didn't go too well.
He hardly could play drums, so they were forced to find a new drummer too. So they brought in Andi Deris on vocals and Uli Kursch on drums... Sadly Ingo deicided to jump on front of a train in 1995. RIP
In 2017 they deicided to celebrate the 30th anniversary of "Keeper I", so they invited all to join for a tour. At this point all resentment was all gone, so they had no issues with touring again. In fact they enjoyed it so much that they continued with it. Even released a couple of albums too! The last guitarist Guitarist is named Sascha Gerstner (tall guy! You should see the backstage pictures with Lovebites!!), who joined around 2005 with Daniel Löble on drums.

I wouldn't call Eagle Fly Free thrash metal, it's more power metal. If you want to hear Lovebites do thrash metal, there are some very good examples, like Break the Wall, Set the World On Fire, Thunder Vengeance, Dissonance, The Hammer of Wrath, and M.D.O. Turning a metal song into a piano arrangement isn't as far fetched as you might think, metal and classical music are pretty closely related, as genres. If you take a metal song, like Eagle Fly Free, strip it down, and play it on, let's say a piano, like Miyako did, you get a classical masterpiece. Another example is Harp Twins cover of Metallica's One, played on, you guessed it, a harp. That one(!) is beautiful. The other way around works too, if you take a classical piece, like Moonlight Sonata, and plug it in, and your name is Tina S, you can turn it into a shred fest. I feel like "song writers" in metal are more composers than song writers, take Tuomas Holopainen of Nightwish, aka Metal Mozart, for example.

No one can compare Halloween live version with LOVEBITES live version from studio with out public. Third guitar of Halloween is the same as Miho playing bass. ASAMI is special story, beautiful incomparable. You can not compare voice from a man of 100k to ASAMI not even 50. MIYAKO piano version is from other world. Great arranger, composer, player.🥰😍😘
