I had never really given Helloween a chance before but this reaction video made me very interested in checking out their entire catalogue. Not only is this a groovy and catchy song, it is an excellent live performance.
Condensing 20 minutes review to..... 20 minutes!!! Loved to see the three vocalists of Helloween united in the same stage. I have seen helloween live many times in the last 25+ years and Michael Kiske was another level at that time. Now all of them have lost voice but for the "older" guys seing all three in the stage is amgic. Thanks David for the review.
Godfathers of power metal. Given that you have all 3 singers through the history of the band, 3 of the guitarists from their history all coming together after nearly 40 years to unite for the fans as the ultimate Helloween is an unheard of thing. They are all great entertainers and showmen. That whole show is entertainment. Special shout out to Markus Grosskopf the bass player. IMHO he is second only to Steve Harris in always being heard in the mix of songs among metal players.
Wow! I was a fan of Helloween since my childhood, was listening to their whole body of work in 1988... Was not expecting such high praise from David. Glad that these dudes are still being appreciated. I am sincerely sure that their first entrance in 1984 was a game changer for the whole metal scene and their influence on the speed and power metal movement is OG.
First Helloween mini album was released in 1984. That makes it 40 years on stage together. That is a very long journey and they wouldnt be able to do it without having Fun and Joy on stage and without this Comradery.
Love the breakdown as always David, glad to see you enjoyed it. This music video really made me fall in love with Helloween. They seem like an awesome band, and I love that everyone on stage is together and united and just having a blast. It doesn't feel like anyone is left out, or forgotten, everyone is moving around and interacting and seeming to have fun(easier on the first song than the last but still). Hope to see much more from them. Excellent band all around. Especially love Nabatea by them. Dig deeper they are super fun.
Glad to see you enjoyed this. I never thought id ever submit something that would possibly be at the top of the new scoring system but thats super cool 🤘 This was either gonna go well or bad due to the song being longer and yes the studio version is this long but I had a solid feeling you were going to at least enjoy the live performance. You have pretty much the same thoughts as I do when it comes to the song length, once you get to the 10-11 minute mark it does feel like your 10-11 minutes in but not dragging. You brought up King Diamonds Halloween and fun fact this song and King Diamonds Halloween were released just 1 year apart from each other in the 80s Ive seen this band live and they are a ton of non stop fun to see live from start to finish
By the way, they don’t play Jackson guitars. Sacha plays Dean guitars, and Weiki plays Gibson Flying V , and Kai plays ESP Custom guitar based on Randy Rhoads model and two custom ESP based on the classic Gibson Flying V. 🤘
Back in the 80s when videos were a big thing on MTV they made a video of this song where they cut it down to like a 4:00 song. Too many reactors react to that version, unfortunately.
I can still remember when they said there was a video coming and I was so excited about it... and then - this short version. I was so disappointed back then 😂
I loved Helloween back in the 80's. a lot band member changes over the yrs especially now kai Hansen & Kiske is back its great. Keeper keys albums are great. Go for Rise & Fall, Dr Stein or March of time. A different sounding metal band back then
I’d call this a highly fitting selection for the season. And for that reason I do dig it. Might not be my favorite style of metal, but these guys are real players. And any time a group writes a heavy song about Halloween I bet I’ll enjoy it. I also actually really like that King Diamond track. The season of fear is here. 🎃🕯️🎃
Original album recording is the same length. The song tells a story with multiple peaks and valleys and that’s why it’s so long and with different movements. MTV played the music video back in the 80s but they shortened it to fit their format and the result was a disjointed, cut up version that doesn’t make sense and that all Helloween fans detest. Sooo glad you didn’t react to that one! Longer is way better in this case.
Great song. It's a long song from the Keeper part 1. You already reacted to a long song from Keeper part 2 a while back. They played almost exactly as the record except few changes in Kai solos.
I just knew you’d gonna like that 😬 I know you by now. I disagreed with you several times and was upset several times. And I told you that 😅 But I like your reaction to this song. Thank you
Really great rendition of their '80s classic - and it's amazing that Michael Kiske (the bald one) can still hit those highs when he wants to. I don't know when this performance took place, but it appears that most of the original founding members are on the stage. And yes, the original album track was 13:18. Here's one of my favorites from back then as well: "I Want Out" - MTV video: ruclips.net/video/PVJFIrGpsRU/видео.html and an amazing cover by Tommy Johansson (15 years ago) with his one-shot band Granskogerz (accompanied by his brother-in-law Kim Arvidsson. It's a great spoof cover of the original video (watch that one first): ruclips.net/video/fXhGUymlC80/видео.html
Man I loved Helloween. Is it extended? nope..Helloween has legs. They have a number of very long songs. Helloween was, for my Maiden loving ass, Maiden meets dungeons and dragons. all about it back in the day.
That song is less than 3 minute long....as most Misfits songs are. LOVE Halloween, one of my favorite Misfits songs. Halloween II, not so much....I feel like Glenn was just messing with Jerry on that song, trying really hard to get under Jerry's skin.
9.4 hell yeah!!!! Deserved for THE Helloween masterpiece
You MUST listen to Keeper Of The Seven Keys, a real journey of a song.
He already has a reaction to that song, check it out its really good

From the album “Keeper of the Seven Keys” part 1. The song is 13 minutes and 18 seconds on the album!
Halloween is from part 1.
@@twiedenfeld Yes, I stand corrected! 👍
The music video version is 5 minutes tho
Don't know if someone already answer this, but the original song (The one on the record) is about 13 mins. So, they did not add extra guitar solos.

Helloween the power metal legends! 🤘
Haruna’s favorite band!

That video of that song I've watched God knows how many times. Love it...
I saw Helloween in 1988 when they toured with Exodus and Anthrax for MTV's Headbanger's Ball tour. Was a fun show!

I believe it is the second longest song only beat out by Keeper Of The Seven Keys.
The King for a 1000 years is 13:54 long

thank you for the reaction video

It could’ve been the Misfits song “Halloween”, too lol

@@THEDavidHeretic if it wasn’t for Cliff Burton and Metallica’s second Garage Days EP, I don’t know if I would ever “discovered” them.
Check out sodom-ausgebombt, in general it would be cool if sodom listened to any track. Sodom please
