Really enjoying your reactions and especially analyses. My theory (if you can call it that haha) on facial expressions, etc. The Warning has been doing gigs, festivals, etc since they were kids (they did their viral Enter Sandman cover which really started everything off at ages 14, 12, and 9). They've also talked about often being the only female act at earlier rock and metal festivals and about really having to prove themselves, both as a young band and as female musicians. I think they've used their passion, intensity, facial expressions, "fierceness", etc above and beyond their incredible musical talent as a way to prove themselves. Dany still does, Pau and Ale maybe to a lesser extent but perhaps as they've now "made it" (at least to some degree) maybe Pau and Ale feel more relaxed and do it less so (and I'm not suggesting that their performance or passion has suffered as a result, they're clearly better than ever, maybe just a different approach and probably a positive if they are feeling more confident and relaxed). For examples of more intense facial expressions and overall "fierceness", see Pau during the Evolve omv and Ale during Dull Knives from The Warning Cave. (actually, all three are insane in both clips!) 🤪😂 On the one hand, I kinda miss that earlier "fierceness"; on the other, it's also awesome to see them smiling and enjoying themselves as they should. Either way, the performances are superb and only continue to improve!🤘 (Sorry for the lengthy post, just my two cents worth haha).

The collaboration between Dead Poet Society and The Warning on Hurt started pretty organically. It all kicked off when Dany, Pau, and Ale were working on Keep Me Fed with producer Anton DeLost, who also produced Dead Poet Society’s album Fission. When Hurt dropped, they heard it in the studio and instantly became fans, even congratulating Anton on the track’s success. Then came Shiprocked, where the two bands first met. Pau was seen singing along to Hurt on social media, and Dead Poet Society noticed. They got to hear the song live for the first time, which only made them more excited about it. Jack Underkofler had been meaning to reach out to The Warning for a while about collaborating but kept forgetting to send the message. Finally, the day before Aftershock, he messaged Ale via Instagram to see if any of them wanted to perform Hurt with the band on stage. Pau immediately responded, saying she would love to. That performance brought everything together, and both bands started talking about recording a version together. The new studio version blends the best of both bands. Jack, Pau, and Dany trade off lead vocals, with Dany, Pau, and Ale on backing vocals. Jack sings the first verse. Dany takes the second verse with Pau's harmonies kicking in halfway, the bridge starts off with Jack then Pau takes over Most recently, on January 10, Dany and Pau joined Dead Poet Society on stage at their concert in Mexico City to perform Hurt live again. The crowd went insane as soon as Dany and Pau were spotted heading towards the stage, and the energy of the performance was unforgettable.

The Warning doesn't get "pigeon holed" into any particular genre. That's one thing I like about them. They have a little something for everyone from 8 to 80.

Opinions may vary but I think the Dead Poet Society album has a lot of Royal Blood vibes and a little bit of Muse. But those two bands come up in connection with The Warning constantly so maybe my ears are fooling me.

An interesting facts: Jack Collins, the lead guitarist of DPS, plays a 7-string guitar. Jack Underkofler is the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist. DPS is originally from Boston and attended Berklee College of Music around the same time as TW was there for a summer session, though there is no evidence that the bands met there. DPS is now based out of Huntington Beach, CA. Like TW, they have been a band for over ten years. The first experience TW had with DPS's music was when they were in the studio recording Keep Me Fed. Anton DeLost, their producer, was also the producer for Dead Poet Society's most recent album. And so, he let TW hear DPS's music. TW became instant fans. The two bands were both on ShipRocked last February and this is most likely the first time the bands ever met. There is a video of Pau dancing and singing along with "Hurt" while in the audience on ShipRocked. DPS saw that clip. The two bands began following each other on Instagram. Both bands also appeared at Louder Than Life and Aftershock. Prior to Aftershock, Jack Underkofler messaged Ale asking if anybody wanted to join them on stage during their set. Pau jumped at the chance, hence the video clips of her on stage with DPS. I'm not sure exactly when the decision was made for Dany, Pau, and Ale to add vocals to the original studio recording of the song, but it seemed like a natural thing since Anton DeLost produced both bands. So, I'm sure the arrangement was easily done.

I had a hard time picking out who is doing what at first, I think quite a few did. By now there are several versions. The latest from Mexico City just last Friday night. Both Dany and Pau came out to sing the song with DPS. By now you've probably already found it. So far there are just a couple decent fan cam videos.

The Warning can, apparently, do anything. They have a concept album, _Queen of the Murder Scene,_ created when they were teenagers, which is best done start to finish to get the full effect. Newer songs would be 'Evolve' from the 2023 MTV VMAs (to see them take control of a crowd of people who never heard of them), Pau's piano 'Breathe', and 'Automatic Sun'.

In the recording you reacted to, Jack takes first verse, Danny is on the second verse, in the breakdown it's Jack - then Pau, and the three of them in the chorus. Both bands played at Aftershock, and Jack had heard what fans the sisters are, he messaged Ale to ask if any of the sisters would like to join them for a song. Apparently Pau's reply was an enthusiastic yes, and that's the live video you saw of her with DPS. There are videos uploaded recently of DPS playing Hurt in Mexico City, where Danny and Pau joined them. Worth Checking out

You were initially correct. In the studio recording, Dany comes in at the beginning of the 2nd verse. Pau starts to add the harmony for a couple lines, then she takes over the lead. In the live video you watched, Pau is the only TW member on stage. That was done before they recorded it in the studio; which was the track you reacted to. A couple nights ago, both Dany and Pau joined DPS on stage in Mexico City for this song; and they sang it more like the studio version. I'll post the link in a comment below this one. 🤘☺️❤️

The Warning are genre fluid, so they can collaborate with just about anyone. The video of Pau performing with DPS at the Aftershock festival was before they did this studio recording remix which included both Dany and Pau, and possibly also Ale on the gang vocals. 😎👍

You were right the first time. Jack sings the 1st verse and 1st chorus. Dany sings the 2nd verse with either Pau or Ale joining her (Pau joined her live but Ale was not even on stage). Pau sings the 2nd chorus and 3rd verse with all of them singing the rest of it. The live from aftershock you referenced was only Pau and was before the official version was released. There are live versions on youtube from this past Friday when they sang it live in Mexico City.

I was the same trying to figure out who was who singing. You need to watch one of the live shows. Once you do that it helps distinguish who’s singing when. There’s a great one with Pau and Dany on stage just been uploaded

I also recommend a Japanese girl group called "PassCode". Their music genre is electronicore/metalcore. I recommend their song "FLAVOR OF BLUE" or "GROUNDSWELL". They are as unique and intense as HANABIE.🔥

Chika actually joined during the recordings for the previous album Reborn Superstar. She has been the drummer for everything they've released since "Pardon Me (I Have to Go Now)" (which was Sae's last video), as well as the entire new EP and the whole 2023 and 2024 tour.

By the way, Hanabie's secret weapon is when Yukina and Matsuri sing together at the same time.

"Serious topics in a funny way" is exactly right. That is really what they are all about. You got the break down of the meaning of the song pretty dead on, I think. The Meyers-Briggs personality type test is taken a bit too seriously by a lot of people in Japan, so, in classic Hannabie. fashion, they are very punk in their social commentary. The spoken part with Hettsu is everyone asking what type she is, but she can't remember lol (they do this live, too, and it's quite funny; I think it is fitting because they all call her an "alien" because she's so weird, so it makes sense that she's the one who can't remember which type she is). I am not too sure of the symbolism, though I agree this video is gorgreous. I did see one theory that the symbol behind them at the end is an extremely stylized 花 (hana/flower, which is of course the first character of 花冷え。but I have no idea if that's what they were going for or not. They do tend to put their name and imagery in their videos a lot, so on that level it makes sense. I did see in a recent interview that Hettsu not only does all their outfits, but has a lot of control over all the visuals in their videos, too, so if that remains true in this one as well, maybe someday she will give some insight.
