For the second straight year, Game 5 of the NBA Finals came down to a crucial shot and a critical mistake. This time, the big bucket was a foul shot by Dwyane Wade with 1.9 seconds left, and the critical mistake was made by Josh Howard when he burned Dallas' final timeout in between Wade's two game-winning free throws. When it ended with a miss from midcourt by Devin Harris, the Miami Heat had escaped with a 101-100 victory in a thrilling Game 5 of the NBA Finals to take a 3-2 lead and move just one victory away from the first title in franchise history. With 43 points on Sunday night, Dwyane Wade is averaging 34.4 points per game during the Finals. Wade's 172 points against Dallas are the third-most for any player through the first five games of his NBA Finals career. In 1967, San Francisco's Rick Barry scored 201 points through five games in his first NBA Finals appearance; Allen Iverson had 178 through his first five games in the Finals in 2001.

What makes this amazing is that Dwyane wade is the YOUNGEST player EVER to average 30 points in route to a finals win and had the 2nd most steals in that series of ALL time in a finals, and he is the only player EVER at 6'4 and under to record 100 blocks in a season, it's unfortunate that after this the heat had no one around Wade for his prime years before injuries, people like to say Kobe is better but Kobe was no where near that effective in ANY of his finals appearances, if the their places had been changed and Wade had played with Shaq in his prime they would have won more championships than 3, but i guess we'll never know how great Wade could have been because of injuries but even then he is a 3 time champion. People sleep on him so much these days but people need to respect greatness

People always dismiss these finals like it was no big deal, most of these people didn't even watch it to really understand how dominant this guy was. He brought that team lead by Shaq from the dead when Shaq was playing like he was dead. Avery had no answers for Wade and Wade destroyed them! I couldn't believe how much respect the refs were giving him but he deserved it, he gave the league one of the most compelling finals ever, who ever tuned in became an instant fan or a jealous hater! Lebron was a way bigger star than Wade and couldn't get those calls, that's how much better wade is than Lebron when it comes to the big stage, he practically swept the Mavs. Wade was special that season, he not only dismantled Dallas, his also put a whooping to the pistons which also had everyone glued to the tv! Other than Wades shoulder injury in 07, this guy has been dominating the league since he's entered it. One doesn't have to like DWade but his game should garner ones respect!

I have watched every Heat game this year, and I can safely say Wade hasn't lost as much athleticism as people think. His knees aren't holding him back, his aggressiveness is what is holding him back. In an interview, Wade talked about how in the 4th quarter he knows he needs to score.(he is the leading 4th quarter scorer) He gets about 9 in the 4th quarter. What I hate is how he doesn't have the same aggression in the first 3, as he does in the 4th. He could easily be a top 5 scorer in the league and have some respect around the league, if he did have a high level of aggression. Just know, that in the post season Wade will come alive like it is game 4 of the Boston series! ;)

    • @mckinneyanthony250
      @mckinneyanthony250 9 лет назад +11

Wade has to take it easy, he's not getting any younger. What he's doing is smart, you get to a certain point in your career when you have to pick and choose when to be aggressive and when to take it easy. Shoot, that's the reason why he has a few more years on his body than he would if he just simply attacked all 4 quarters. The guy is 33, not 23, remember that

***** His knees weren't the thing that kept him down this year. It was constant hamstring injuries. I'm telling you, the guy still has hops. He just doesn't show them so much because he is scared of another injury. He needs to do what Stephen A told Rose. Just give it his all, and if something happens it happens.

DoU EvenLift Wade was the best slasher, was more effective and more consistent than Lebron getting into the paint. Wade was better at splitting the defense and shooting impossible layups. But Lebron was great too, just not as good as Wade in this manner.

    • @DoUEvenLift
      @DoUEvenLift 10 лет назад +1

Oscar Féliz False, LeBron is actually better than Wade, Wade is just more flashy & fun to watch they were both top 2 they just did it in different ways, Wade was more finesse hitting extremely acrobatic lay-ups and driving the lane with quickness & speed, LeBron on the other hand was just too big. strong & explosive to stay infront of, he didn't have Wade's quickness or finesse but when you're 6'8 250 of pure muscle and are one of the most explosive players in the league you don't need Wades finesse.
They played different games,Wade ran through the defense, LeBron ran through the defender, Wade finished around the contact LeBron finished through the contact.
Wade's top 3 scoring seasons are '09, '07, '06. Let's compare stats on their finishes around the rim(all of their FGs & FG% of shots made in the restricted area)
      Wade:
06: 4.9FGM/7.5FGA(per game in the restricted area) 66.1%
      07: 4.8/7.2 66.5%
      09: 4.9/7.5 66%
      LeBron:
06: 5.7FGM/8.5FGA(67.7%)(2nd most FGM/Game in the RA behind Shaq)
      07: 5.2/7.3 71.2%
09: 5/6.8 72.5% (Tied for 1st in FGM/RA with Dwight despite taking 0.3 less shots per game in the RA)
This season LeBron drives the lane 6.6 times per game in the playoffs this year and scores on 68.8% of his drives.
Wade Drives the lane 6.8 times per game these playoffs and scores on 57.1% of his drives.
I know that's not as relevant cause it's D-Wade's out of his prime, but the point is LeBron's a better finisher through contact and better at getting in the paint & slashing.
Wade was extemely quick and had a great eurostep and is one of the best at splitting double teams I've ever seen, but when LeBron puts his head down and decides to go to the rim at 6'8 250 with that explosiveness there's basically nothing a defender can do.

LeBron's numbers against the Warriors in the Finals were great, but I think Wade's performance in this series was better. He willed this team to win after being down 2-0. *****
Shaq was a liability in the Finals
Walker shot 39% and was Wade's leading scorer
GP was washed up with average defense. Williams was also washed up. They have big names but their production was not there.
and Shaq was 0-1 in the 2005 Playoffs when Wade did not play
but Wade was 2-0 in the 2005 Playoffs when Shaq did not play
Shaq had little impact in the 2005 Playoffs when he was much healthier than in 2006.
Shaq got outscored by Antoine Walker in the 2006 Finals. Wade averaged 10 more points than Shaq in the Playoffs & 21 more in the Finals. Shaq was a net negative in the Finals meaning the Heat were worse when he was on the floor compared to when he wasn't. Shaq didn't play more than 5 minutes in the 4th Quarters and was a defensive liability. and Shaq shot 37% from the Free Throw Line making him an even bigger liability.
Wade's Role Players were weak too. Average Defensively and Wade had to do everything Offensively.
      Wade dropped 39.3 - 8.3 - 3.5 - 2.5 - 1.0 on 50.5% in the 4 games after being down 0-2 and played great defense
Lebron also had Kyrie in game 1 of the Finals and still lost, and LeBron had 0 pts in the OT of Game 1 before the garbage time layup
and he had 0 pts in the 4th quarter of Game 4 at home with a chance to go u 3-1
LeBron was also 0/3 on game winners in the 2015 Finals whereas Wade made all the clutch plays
      -15pts in the 4th of Game 3
-Game Saving Tip in Game 3
-Drive that created Payton's clutch jumper
-Lockdown on Terry to Force miss and Overtime
-game tying shot in Game 5
      - Game winning Free Throws
      - Clutch Steal with 30 seconds to go in Game 6
LeBron also played no defense in the Finals which is why his numbers looked so good, he had all his energy on just 1 end of the floor, unlike Wade who played both end
"LeBron's Overrated Defense Exposed - 2015 NBA Finals"
and Harrison Barnes shot 37% for the series, but over 50% when LeBron was guarding him, proof of how bad his defense was and how he was a 1-way player
"Harrison Barnes Exposes LeBron's Overrated Defense"
also, LeBron didn't lead his team in every category. Hakeem Olajuwon is the only player to lead a team to the Finals (and win) while leading the team in all 5 categories for the playoffs (pts reb ast stl blk) in 1994, and he was playing defense at the same time, guarding the other teams best player Barkley, Malone, and Ewing whereas LeBron guarded the weakest matchups and put forth no defensive effort in the Finals

***** The one thing that sticks out between Wade's performance in this series and LeBron's recent Finals is the field goal percentage. Under 40% shooting for the series and 31% on threes and an average of 19-20 missed shots per game. Compared to 57% shooting and 51% against the Spurs in the previous Finals. LeBron was forcing up a lot of shots, and his jumper was broken. Obviously he's not to blame for the series loss, but his shot selection could have been better and that would have been enough to at least force a Game 7.

      @hakeemolajuwonisbest9995 8 лет назад

LeBron did not lead them in 5/5 categories for 4 rounds like Hakeem did - the only player to do that and while playing superior defense
and 21 shots in 6 games is a 3.5 shot per game sample which is too small to accurately tell how bad his teammates were
Mozgov averaged more points than any of Wade's teammates in the 2006 Finals and Thompson averaged more rebounds than any of Wade's teammates
2 of Wade's top 3 scoring teammates shot under 40%
whereas 2 of LeBron's top 3 scoring teammates shot over 50%
LeBron also disappeared in the clutch moments
      0/3 on game winners
0 pts in 4th quarter of Game 4
0 pts in OT of Game 1 before the garbage time layup
LeBron also completely coasted defensively which is why his offensive numbers were so huge
"LeBron's Overrated Defense Exposed - 2015 NBA Finals"
and Harrison Barnes shot 37% for the series, but over 50% when LeBron was guarding him, proof of how bad his defense was and how all his effort was on 1 end
"Harrison Barnes Exposes LeBron's Overrated Defense"
and lastly, assuming all assists = 2 points
Jordan is the only player to score + assist 50% of his team points in multiple NBA Finals when he did it in 91, 93, 97
LeBron only did it for the first time in 2015
