To be honest, most of the things you mentioned being removed from Retail, feels like were placed strategically in E3 demo to showcase everything in the game, in a seamless flow. Graphically, nothing is a downgrade as far as I can tell, except for lighting changes, which as you suggested might be a case of the weather system. E3 footages have always been heavily color graded for a while now, so Light and Color comparison is moot.
i would love for them to change the flare mechanics. In the game before, you can only use the flare in blackzone, and only in 1 location with enemies just spawning in. You can literally hide without aggro-ing anyone, then extract. I would love to see using the flare as a mechanic to call in either ammo backup, or call in other players from around the area, so that others can see the flare, decide to help or not, then run towards the location instead of spawning in, or having to meet others in hubs. In addition, enemies can also see these flares, so they move towards it, like increasing your aggro range instead of spawning enemies in. This would make the player be careful whether sending a flare would be the best idea or not.
If you spend a long time playing, you will see the day cycle, sometimes with fog and rain variations. It is absolutely stunning seeing the sunset in a minor fog, just stunning.
I was one of the closed-beta testers. And it was god DAMN AMAZING! At that time I was wondering to buy Division 2 or Fallout 76. Seems like Ubisoft is aiming for quality now. You can see it from Division 2 and Breakpoint.
Can’t believe people are actually saying “still not as great as div e3” are you fucking kidding me. That wasn’t a game. That was practically a cutscene. You’re mad a sequel (that improves on the old) doesn’t look like a cgi short now. It’s pathetic.
E3 demo is prerendered, illumination is unbelievably expectacular compared to the plain retail version. An evident example is the detail of the backpack. There's simplier vegetation variety in some areas in the retail version. They have achieved a good balance between graphic quality and performance though.
Finally something has changed and there's no downgrade :) I like the idea that the E3 showed the past and in retail, as some time have passed, the settlers moved. I think it would be great to show the early version of game and then put some details here and there from that presentation, maybe to make a side quest out of it - small but engaging thing in my opinion.
Pretty certain that the E3 demo was done on Xbox One....was it not? I am seeing in the comparison video from E3 where a controller is being used, which is slightly indicative of that, unless the people playing the demo were using controllers on a PC.
I use a controller on my PC all the time as it allows you to more smoothly pan the camera for nice looking clips. They always say they're playing on the PS4 or the Xbox when they show off these games, but those versions are even less impressive than the final product. At least the PC versions are somewhat close
I'm noticing more changes in story and placement elements than graphical. I think some of the stuff you've pointed out missing or different were just show pieces for the demo and were never meant to be in the game. The Jungle at the beginning and the attack on the capitol in the end of the video for main examples. (Although I would really love to have them reopen the jungle part.) P.S. at 6:15 the piece of the plane was just moved up and to the right, it's not removed.
Having played the closed alpha and betas, they really did a good job upgrading and fixing the issues that were present as well as the amazing optimization.
I went tot he downed airplane around lvl 20 and there WAS a giant juggernaut for me :) Also nice video and I'm happy to see, that Ubis is finally starting to get real with the pregame demos.
A slight correction to an otherwise amazing series of comparison videos. At 6:16 you mention that the presidential seal was removed, when actually its just a little further up on the crest in the retail version... awesome job as always NICK930
compared to Division 1, this is practically better than anything we could have gotten; proud to say that ubisoft massive did a fantastic job on this one !!
Looks like the demo has more volumetrics and particles on screen in general gameplay which adds some nice detail and makes for a richer image. I prefer the colour pallet of the retail version and a number of the added details are appreciated.

Graphically, nothing is a downgrade as far as I can tell, except for lighting changes, which as you suggested might be a case of the weather system. E3 footages have always been heavily color graded for a while now, so Light and Color comparison is moot.
This game looks so much better than at E3, fair play Ubisoft.
Best video channel comparisons ever
They definitely intentionally showed a downgraded version at E3. 4D Chess move by Ubi, well played, well played.
They used console for E3, ps4 pro, I think
9:27 - The plane debris is still there just moved further in front of where you climb out.
Third (I guess ,I'm not sure )
....
i would love for them to change the flare mechanics.
First
If you spend a long time playing, you will see the day cycle, sometimes with fog and rain variations.
You can see it from Division 2 and Breakpoint.
love your videos !! nice work !
Great Comparison man!
After playing it...I was definitely impressed... Hell surprised even that it was that close to E3
My guess is that the lighting was changed in E3 version to make it look a little bit more cinematic
Can’t believe people are actually saying “still not as great as div e3” are you fucking kidding me. That wasn’t a game. That was practically a cutscene. You’re mad a sequel (that improves on the old) doesn’t look like a cgi short now. It’s pathetic.
You are doing important work, thank you.
E3 demo is prerendered, illumination is unbelievably expectacular compared to the plain retail version. An evident example is the detail of the backpack. There's simplier vegetation variety in some areas in the retail version.
They have achieved a good balance between graphic quality and performance though.
5:50 that glitched sign is an internal dev note supposed to tell map designers to remove the luggage models from that spot
Finally something has changed and there's no downgrade :)
I like the idea that the E3 showed the past and in retail, as some time have passed, the settlers moved.
(Although I would really love to have them reopen the jungle part.)
P.S. at 6:15 the piece of the plane was just moved up and to the right, it's not removed.
Alright, this is good. Glad to see they’ve tried to keep to what they shown
Another great video Nick. Very informative.
Having played the closed alpha and betas, they really did a good job upgrading and fixing the issues that were present as well as the amazing optimization.
I think the jungle got replaced by dark zone or something... Because (maybe) Ubisoft don't want the game size more bigger (it's just my opinion)
ugh i'm stuck on a month long work trip but I can't wait to get home and play this
I went tot he downed airplane around lvl 20 and there WAS a giant juggernaut for me :) Also nice video and I'm happy to see, that Ubis is finally starting to get real with the pregame demos.
Keep up the good videos bro, really good ideas i like it
It’s so refreshing to see a new game not flopping on release. Last time I’ve seen a good e3 game was Battlefield 1
