I was also really happy to see how kind you are to your younger self. It’s essential to be understanding of the fact that we are always learning/growing (and it’s all a part of the process)! You are where you are now with your art due to your younger self, and the same goes for future you looking back! It’s so important to honour our journey, y’know? xx

I always get soo weird about watching myself on videos, whether im performing or someone just takes a video of me vibin in the corner. But seeing the way you watch yourself from past videos makes me feel better about watching myself in videos :) (PS I love you!)

Aww Lauren, this was so much fun to watch! It must be so bittersweet for you watching your younger self & how far you’ve come. I can’t imagine what it must feel like to have that drive, knowing you won’t ever give up because you were meant to do this, make art, scream, throw your middle finger up to those who don’t get it! I’m glad they don’t because it just makes it all the more special for those who do!

More of these! Love hearing the stories behind the videos and the honesty about the 'cringey' videos from the past that are actually really cool to look back on. You still sound great from the start, it's just so funny to see the young you exploring your performance moves. Super cute!
Just watched this and was blown away! really amazing see you very conscious about self image but desperate to let the freaky side out (something that we all now know and love about your performances). Also it is heart-warming to think how much effort and dedication your mum has given to you throughout your career, you are so fortunate having that support and I am sure Helen is rewarded every day by your strength and drive to define your identity x

i relate to baby lauren so much rn 🥺 i’m in a music college w a bunch of girls that sing R&B and being in there as a metal/grunge guitarist (hopefully a grunge singer soon 😔) its so HARD. i have that constant need to better myself and strive for better and i just wanna make good fucking music. praying in 10 years time i can look back and be as proud of myself as you are of little you! sending love bb 🥰💘💘💘
Lovee your voicee, you really are one of the best singers I've ever heard! It reminded me of a performance I did in a pageant, it was a playback of Starman, Bowie. I was 9 years old and I remember that before going on stage I started crying haha. I won the second prize because the first was won by the granddaughters of the person who organized the contest😒, but I am very proud of that performance 😊.

Next Tuesday is my birthday, and guess what? I'll be here watching the new vlog ❤. This video reminded me the first time i heard a cover from you, that Led Zeppelin cover "whole lotta love". My dad show me that video on my birthday, and it's kind crazy to think about it, cause he passed away 4 years ago and i'm still here following your Job because of him, this is just amazing for me! I don't know what else can i say... Love you! ❤

Didn't all those people realise the immense natural talent that was standing before them, what a great bunch of memories to be cherished, the performances are amazing. I think most of the folk that criticised you back then were obviously jealous.
Thank you John! I always found it hard fitting it, the second I sang people just lost interest. Hoping to find my true friends later in my life

People bullied me at school, for following my dreams, and I'm 20 now and a total failure. And the only thing my mom ever told me was when I asked her " Mom can I sing" ? .. She said. Yes, really bad.

I was heavily bullied in school and now after 1 year of singing at 23 years of age, I can now I finally say, to to hell with them all, my confidence from just one year of singing has risen at an insane rate. Find the type of music and singers you love and learn from those singers, that's how I learned, you can do it too!

It took me about 44 years, a bout of depression, crippling anxiety and a huge leap of faith to sing, always loved singing, always sang privately, but never performed. In an attempt to deal with the depression and anxiety I joined a choir, and loved it. Roll on a few years, and I'm performing a solo of a Les Miserables number, Bring Him Home... which, if you don't know the song, is 'quite' high... I did all right, but more importantly I LOVED IT! By pushing myself to perform it helped me face the anxiety head on, and get over it! The choir is now 'my' choir... I inherited the leadership when the original leader returned home to the Netherlands, and we've gone from strength-to-strength, as have I, standing up in front of them every week (pre-flippin-covid of course) and singing! x

I'm clearly not an artist aha, but my general confidence journey has been hard and taken a hell of a lot of effort. I spent so long despising myself and having no self belief AT ALL. I've been slowly changing that over the past few years with therapy and healing from trauma but this year something seemed to change dramatically. I think it's because I finally feel comfortable with who I am and that has made me not give a flying fuck about what people think of me anymore aha. Honestly you, and so many other incredible women, played such a big role in getting me to where I am today and I can't thank you enough for that grrl 💕💖💕💖 also you're so fucking talented lovely, even when you were that young. It's incredible. Fuck the bullies, I'd have been right there cheering for you in the front row. I'm just glad you kept going and I can do that now 😊 lots of love xx

and with your own music and your own band at a young age and already kicking ass with the high quality of everything you do. i've been a fan since the early era of HoG, before you even had the first album - i discovered the band through someone'svideo from some club gig..... and then i found this channel and your old covers and thought "woah, she's like 13 in the oldest videos? and she sang like THAT" :O

It's funny, because I'm doing early performances like these right now. Every time, something goes wrong, and I learn a thing. Last time there was no monitor, and my backing track was too far away to really hear, and I was next to my amp trying to play shred guitar. I was just hearing my dry signal, thinking I was out of sync, and it sounded like hot garbage... to me... to everyone else it was fine. But I definitely lost visible confidence being up there having that happen. So, uh. Yeah, I'm bringing the monitor with me everywhere now like a best friend. haha
100% talent... and 500% hard work!! At least!! 🙂 Very inspirational video! 👍 I'd love to see more 🤩
Stage fright is a real nightmare, but---as almost everything---can be solved with focus and persistent practice. As Derren Brown said: "Confidence can be faked. It's not real."

Really enjoyed watching all these videos! You've always been talented then it seems! Made me feel old when you said you started High School in 2009, as that is when I finished high school :P. Would love more videos like this! Thanks for sharing them! Just an idea as well would love a video like this where you react to newer stuff as well from like HOG or your own stuff and say a bit about each video as well. Anxiety is like a malevolent dragon. You have to be willing to go to the unknown and slay him in his lair before he grows so big and comes to eat you and your kingdom. The unknown represents whatever you are afraid of. It's out of your comfort zone. You have to go there and put yourself in a situation you are afraid of. You become stronger each time you do that. As Lauren said, she was embarrassed to sing. But she had the courage to face her dragon and kept performing. We all know the results.

Inspiring, seeing your style and voice grow - you were always an artist at heart, and now you have the heart of an artist. I really wish I had a mom like yours. My dad encourages me and got me into rock in the first place. My mom is cool, dont get me wrong but but I know I couldn’t stand an office job and told her I wanted to work in a record store and be in a band and she said she wouldn’t pay for my college. Whatever I’m doing it anyway. What’s the point of life if it’s boring. Sorry for the rant lol
