- The Army Ranger Wing (ARW) is the special operations force of the Irish Defence Forces, the military of Ireland. A branch of the Irish Army, it also selects personnel from the Naval Service and Air Corps. It serves at the behest of the Defence Forces and Government of Ireland, operating internally and overseas, and reports directly to the Chief of Staff. The ARW was established in 1980 with the primary role of counter terrorism and evolved to both special operations and counter terrorism roles from 2000 after the end of conflict in Northern Ireland. The unit is based in the Curragh Camp, County Kildare. The 2015 White Paper on Defence announced that the strength of the Wing would be considerably increased.
Rangers have served abroad in a number of international peacekeeping missions, including in Somalia, East Timor, Liberia, and Chad. The ARW trains with special forces units around the world, particularly in Europe. The ARW in its domestic counter terrorism role trains with the Garda Síochána (national police) specialist armed intervention unit, the Emergency Response Unit (ERU)

@@makkapakka2098 Kill records are extremely situational and don't always denote a superior Sniper. Currently the 75th Ranger Regiment has won the International Sniper competition 3 times in a row against units like the KSK, ARW and British SF units. Also the JTF2 operator that took the shot was not trained by Royal Marines... I don't know where you got such information, but I would like to see it if you could provide it. US Army Rangers are the most consistently proficient and likely conduct more combat Operations then any other Special Operations unit. With the funding and training the Regiment has access to they can conduct a large amount of Tier 1 Operations, but it really all comes down to the individual. Any man can be a great sniper given that he puts in the work of course.

@@makkapakka2098 Bad information...? You literally said the 75th Ranger Regiment was a conventional unit you mong... If anybody has bad information it's you. The JTF2 Sniper was never trained by Royal Marines that was also a blatant lie. Furthermore I have never heard of ANY Special Operations Unit being trained by Royal Marines ever. The Royal Marines are a conventional amphibious Infantry unit and their snipers being "the most lethal" is definitely debatable. Rangers are certainly the most lethal Special Operations (Not talking about strictly Sniping) with some Ranger Snipers getting over 30 kills in less then 3 months during HVT raids etc. My point is that there are good snipers that hail from every nation.

The very first American Ranger companies came to be in the 1600s, as a mobile defense force against Native American raids on Anglo-American colonies, since defeating small, individual raiding parties wouldn't stop the onslaught of them coming from the bush.

Sorry mate but I completely disagree. This video can easily be found on the internet, and the fact of the matter is that all of it is from the same video. Want to see a better version of it? Go to the Irish Defence Forces RUclips channel. Better music to go with the video and scenes that actually cut together properly and make sense. Peace.

Again, it's impossible for this channel to have completely original content as he is simply taking military videos and putting them together to make motivational videos for different groups. As the ARW only has the one video and is in fact the only footage of them, it would make sense for him to only be able to use that one video. The original is amazing, but so is his version. The Irish military's RUclips page doesnt care about credit. Nothing about it is monetary, it's simply educational. So whether he credits them or not as long as their message is being spread I hardly doubt they'll care

I just found an article on this. They board a regular ferry with passengers on board. They prep warned them and keeped them below decks.
