Every male in my family, and 2 girls served our nation, every one of us, in combat, 2 served in the special forces and 1 never came home..this speech is reminder of the war we all fight in our minds after that hell. Sing. Never back down. Ignore the bell...and sing.
Mental toughness is not only in the physical, but intellectual as well. Sustaining continuous hardship and forging through for years and decades of school to arrive at a doctoral degree, becoming the best in the nation to serve your country by developing technology used by these special forces guys takes heart and grit at well. True I will not take a bullet like these guys, but that's not my contribution, I am much more valuable elsewhere. And when these guys use our technology so they won't have to take a bullet, that contribution is just as significant if not more.
My grandfather turned 100 this year. He landed on Omaha beach on June 6 DDay he said he didn’t die that day as he didn’t give up. He was shot and instead of falling on the beach he continued up the beach he said “I didn’t give up as the fate of my friends and the free world was at stake”
I am 15 years old hoping to join the special forces because I never pay to do something because I believe I have the potential to do what is right for my country and family
I'll never forget that statement, "There is a lot of sharks in the world, if you hope to complete the swim you will have to deal with them." Life is like that swim.
Currently undergoing technical training to be an aircrew Flight Engineer aboard c130s in the air force. It's fucking crazy hard. Way more than anything I've done before. But I eventually want to be a Special Missions Aviator and then from there become a combat pilot or special operations pilot. I think I just found the video I'm gonna watch every morning before class haha
I'm glad I'm a proud American, and even prouder if our armed forces. The men and women of our military deserve so many thanks, and so many prays to have God to keep them safe and to come home. Thank you to whom are serving and have served. And a special thanks to those who gave their life on the battle ground. May God bless and keep you all. Amen

20 years served with the UK SAS. Gave my soul for my country and our allies. I would do it all over again in a heart beat.

“End of the day, somebody has to make the enemy scared of the dark.
There's one guy who was a wise person, told me this, and i still remember forever.
The pain has to end, so why quit
Not alot of good came from my father, he was a narcisist, who shot himself and left me, my mom and brother alone, broke and in depth.

Chills. As a civilian, I'm grateful to be exposed to this mentality. I refuse to feel hopeless anymore.
Admiral McRaven, such an amazing speech!
I, as a German, have never heard such an inspiring speech.
