Buying a Car Doesn't Have to Suck™ - Авто/Мото
Have you seen how many trucks are on RAM lots? Yeah, they are choking on them.
Not all auction cars are bad, but all bad cars go to auction lol
Ram dealership sold it at auction because they can't sell what they already have in inventory? Just my guess.
I owned a similar ram. Never again
Yep, they can't sell the new, so get rid of low-cost vehicles . I owned 3 and never had any real issues with them.
Now I have nothing to type. I'd only add that I think they're anticipating a UAW strike and will then get serious about moving the new inventory. Most of the production facilities are still jamming hard...
@@26longlongtime what didn't you like about it? I know RAM had a problem with transmissions about 20yrs ago but for the 2017 what did it do you didn't like? I'm a GM guy but I always like doing research.
Yep, and they would also rather bring it to auction than to give a customer a good deal.
$30k for a 7 year old Ram (or any brand), this market is crazy.
And it was even worse a few years ago. I paid $20k for my 2015 RAM 5.7 with 150k miles in March of 2021. Now the same trim with 150k is about $14000 and a 100k mile truck same trim is about $20k. As for trim, mine is a fleet Big Horn quad cab, which is basically specced identically to a SLT, but with the Big Horn bumpers, dual exhaust, fog lights, 6 way power seat, and a 115v power outlet. And the reason why I say fleet Big Horn is pretty much all quad cab Big Horns you see barely specced over a SLT were once owned by some rental agency, like Enterprise or Hertz.
That truck looks better than cars you buy.
I am from the Detroit Metro area. I just bought a 2020 RAM 1500 from a dealer. These trucks are everywhere here. Dealers have their lots full and talking to a few dealers as I was trying to buy mine, they told me there is such demand for these trucks used outside of Michigan, they can make equal or more money by selling them wholesale out of state then trying to sell them retail.
I live in Lake Orion MI and have a 22 Ram and your right there all over around here.
a few years ago you couldn't buy a used pickup in Ontario Canada because they were all being shipped down to the US for sale. It was actually ticking me off because I needed a truck and no way was I going to buy new. I know someone in the used car biz and he said US buyers were buying EVERYTHING that crossed the line at the dealer only auction. Over bidding too because with the USD at 30% over CDN the local dealers couldn't compete.
It was so bad, a 5 yr old used truck with 20,000 kms would cost you the same as brand new from the dealer because used, you got 10% interest. New you got 2%.
That Ford tail light is $1400
What would be scary to me is buying vehicles without even test driving them or seeing them in person.
Happens thousands of times a week. Some auctions you are 110% guaranteed to not buy anything because all you have is a group of people bidding extremely high. Easiest thing to do is buy green light from elsewhere & get the vehicle shipped
As was stated with the Ram, it had a pre-purchase inspection.
@@briangasser973 yeah, and often they aren't worth the paper they're written on. Ask superspeedersrob, he bought a ferrari with a pre-purchase inspection BY a ferarri dealer and it came with $50,000 in issues and the inspection showed none of it. Mismatched tires, bad steering rack, suspension issues, visible damage.
By the time youve bought your 100th car you know how to mitigate your risk.
Glad to see your back, was worried about not seeing any new videos. Big fan, keep them coming!
Thank you for sharing. For the RAM, that’s the last year before they got CarPlay, so the system isn’t current. Also, for both trucks, 6-7 years old would be harder to finance for some buyers, and they’re too old to certify. If these were 2020 and 2021 trucks at auction, I think there would be some more suspicion.
I sold my 3 yearold silverado because I didn't like the transmission and could tell there would be issues at 100k miles or so. 8 speed 37k miles
6-7 years isn't hard to finance. It's a clean low mileage truck that books out well. With decent credit a bank will buy it.
66000 miles on a ram with a hemi …. Will need an engine soon , that’s why they didn’t want on the lot …. Those cams like to eat themselves.
If it was driven right and maintained properly, it won't have issues. My 2015 5.7 has 206k on the original drivetrain, including cam and lifters. Put 5w30 in them, don't idle and don't short cycle and they will easily make it to 300k and beyond. Also, change the oil every 5k unless it is driven a lot in one month, which I'd say about 6-7k a month)
I used to work for a wholesaler who purchased vehicles from the wealthier suburbs around Chicago. That was a long time ago but I remember getting some great cars and once in a while a clinker.
Man, I'm glad you guys are good! I've been missing your channel! I've been checking all of your channels to see if you've posted anything!
If i was a dealer i wouldn't buy any Chrysler vehicles. They don't age well and are prone to all kinds of issues.
Kia Dude coming soon.
Thanks for sharing, helping us, and the folks understanding the car business over the last many years.
9:43 You just learned this? That surprises me. I thought every car guy knew this
Ding ding ding
I’ve heard it’s feel it in the seat it’s the rear
Chevy Dude, if you’re converting at 10, 11, or even 15 days, that’s unheard of unless you’re doing buy here pay here, even then, that’s unreal!!!
Well done as usual on your presentation.
Blessings to all of you.
Happy that your pack posting videos!
When those center high mounted stop lights were first introduced they were called Elizabeth Dole lights. She was the Secretary of Transportation who campaigned for those things to be a new standard feature on all cars.
They were also referred to as a Cyclops light.
In Illinois we call them lights idiot lights😂 never knew there was an actual name for it:)
It’s called liquidation . Dealers can’t hold inventory forever they will be paying it on the backend
So happy to see your progress of your dealership!
Love how your wife is involved seems she knows her cars! Glad your daughter is helping you tho!
I still have my 2011 Ram been a very solid truck 125K. Would love to get a newer one but two factors
1. Prices of new are crazy town
2. Not paying 7+ percent interest on a car note, even with over 800 credit score. Holding out till interest rates come back to earth!
Start making "truck payments" now... just put what you are willing to pay on a truck per month into savings and eventually, you will be able to pay cash or at least put a huge down payment on a truck.
Don't hold your breath waiting for interest rates to come down. Prices will be coming down though.
My situation exactly.
Finally back! Those trucks were sweet!
No a car expert but here in my part of California Dodge dealers are dying because they have more new Ram trucks than they can sell, and so far there are limited or no dealer or customer incentives. They don't want anything to do with used Ram trucks, they're trying to dump the new inventory they have.
Next used vehicle I may have to take a drive to Kentucky and see what you have available. Great information!
Hay, I wanted to take a minute to say Thank You for all your advice about buying cars. Using your tips and watching other car buying experts, I was able to get a great deal on a new car.
Ram dealer is trying to make their floor plan and picked the silver one.
You're a true car salesman. You never stop talking long enough to let someone else say their part of the conversation. I turned the volume way down to turn down the tone of your voice too. A bit shrill.
Are you familiar with RUclips?
Glad you are back, we are all wondering where you where at?
Haha I miss watching these videos love the process ❤
Make banner to fly next to volvo dat says the nicest best volvo in this area to draw attention to it like frank
Glad you're back
Mike, I’m glad you’re back. I’ve missed you.
Cam phasers in the v8 go bad around 80k but idk just an idea
Wow, your daughter has the same voice inflection as Mrs. Chevy Dude.
Funny how that runs in the family like that. 😁
Dealership needs money
If a dealer's service department is at full capacity (lots of work and/or not enough techs), revenue lost from pulling tech (to inspect/recon) from profitable the service work may have made it more profitable to send trade-ins (that they formerly kept to sell) to auction.
if i was there in the USA i would buy the Volvo XC70 but then again i am a nut for them because i have two second gen models.
also its a rare bright color because usually they are Grey or white or even black.
advertise the Volvo in Enthusiast groups there you can always find a buyer.
They don't want it because they don't have anywhere to put it. They are overloaded with new ones
I knew about the brake vibration check (front vs. rear), but I did learn CHMSL from you today. I like that Volvo, but alas, I'm not looking for a car at the moment. Cheers!
Taillights are even more than that because of the Blind Spot Sensors. One of those is like $1800 to replace on the F150.
were have you been.
I was wondering the same thing.
Great informative content
Idk down by you, but here in MI Dodge-Jeep- Chrysler dealers have tons of new Rams, Jeeps and cars they can't sell as it is.
They are dumping old stock. I see ram / dodge dealers overflowing with stock here in Canada. Toyota dealers are still pretty empty here.
Hopefully we see more videos posted!
Well when no one is buying the new trucks what else would you do with old trucks
Fantastic to see a new video,
Hello, how are you? passing by to honor your work and I also thank you for having visited me. Congratulations on the job!!!
GOD bless you and your family abundantly
Holy shikeys you finally uploaded 😮😮 I was worried something happened. Where the heck ya been??
I was always taught pedal and steering wheel it’s front and seat is rear
I hate the dial shifter on these.
People flat out can’t afford the price of vehicles.
Some dealers floorplan is maxed out so they sell off some of them. I had a friend who tried to sell his very nice low mile ram 1500 to a ram dealer they didn't want to buy it they ended up selling it to a GM dealer who sold it quickly to a customer.
Dealers have excise inventory due to lease returns.
If you refer to a customer as a sucker that makes me not trust a dealer
Are the Chinese-owned Volvos any good? And station wagons are kinda old-school, although I still see them from time to time near Chicago. But not long ago I saw a Daewoo still running, so...
I thought the same thing.
Why would you trust a dealer in the first place??
At the end of the day this is a stealership… there are other terms used just not on camera.
Not overly professional. Surprised that comment made it to video for the viewers to hear. Oops
Those are some sweet-looking trucks! But I could never let go of my 2005 Sierra they don't make them like that anymore. But dang that Ram and F150 were looking mighty fine.
Thanks grant! Never heard that before too lol
Dealer Lots are loaded with $60,000 to $90,000 new trucks that they need to sell.
The center brake light on those dodges goes out every 6 months. I buy the 6 pack amd keep them in the center because it's so comon
You are the Chevy dude... Your bride is mrs. Chevy dude.... Now would your daughter be the Chevy princess??? Love your videos... Keep on growing man
Dodge ram was more than likely wholesaled due to exhaust. i buy allot of diesels from dealers who can't sell vehicles that have any type of exhaust modification..
I have the same truck, 2017 with only 33,000
on it. Garage kept, I have a company truck so mine gets very little drive time
You have to be cautious of some of these vehicles because sometimes especially with those rams and Chevys, the cams will be wiping themselves out the cans in the lifters and send a bunch of metal into the bottom of the motor but when they dropped the pan to inspect for that failure mode, they end up cleaning it out lightning it back together for the client who says they don't want the repair, and they trade it in. So you have a vehicle and failure mode but with clean oil and a cleaned out oil pan also and you really can't detect it.
Not always true on the brake diagnosing.. Generally, maybe, always have to check rotors on both anyway
It could be the mileage.
Used Volvos can be money pits, crazy maintenance cost!
Okay Scotty kilmer 😂
@@gabrielesparza4 i’m speaking from experience I had a 2013 X60 T6… Electronically nightmare, and the maintenance cost was crazy… go check with the dealership and you’ll see the price listings.. The brakes prices on those cars are insane… excellent ride safe transmission, Electronics and maintenance will bankrupt you… they are not on anybody’s reliability list.. that’s why the car is sitting on that lot
Also if you can feel a vibration in the steering wheel its a front tire that is out of balance. Feel it in the seat its a rear tire out of balance.
On the Ram I didn't see a CEL at start up, is the bulb removed? Put it on a scanner.
If that Volvo is AWD and has less than 110,000 miles, I would be totally interested in it if I lived closer.
I think Kaitlyn got some help from momma when buying those vehicles, lol.
On my 2nd ram my first was a 17 with over 120k mileage on before trade it in with not a single issue now have 21 ram but trucks out on the market
I have bought from franchise dealer for 13 years and never had a problem.I have established credibility with these customers
What truck do you like better the Ford F-150 or the ram my family in the house has always had Ford can you please do a video on that
I'd buy that volvo wagon for sure.. those things are beautiful
They're dumping them as they don't want anything more than 5 years old on their lot. If they can't sell it in a month, off to wholesale it goes.
No update on that third brake light and its design defect? Id bet it looked like it got wet. And sadly if it is I bet you under the storage box under the seat its damp and moldy. It's been an issue since 1995 and they never fixed the leak design. But it does drain water into the cabin.... lol
$250 to spray a whole hood...that is super cheap
When you do it with a spray can it usually is.
Also there are hundreds and probably thousands of people on forums that have all these issues as well
I love car, congratulations for the video
Normally new car dealerships that sell some used vehicles its gotta be 3 years or newer with 40k or less so they clean the older ones and send straight to auction
People have no idea how hard this is, I’ve been a sales manager for years and years, especially for a nonfranchise dealer, it’s a learning process for sure, many times it Bankrupt’s a dealer and fast!!
What’s the details on that Volvo? Can’t find it online and curious about a wagon 🤔
You’re back.
Check the third brake light.
Maybe trying to lower their inventory to lower their interest payments. It's insane right now.
I'm assuming you car faxed the Ram truck. Weird the back is worn and the front is OK unless the front was already done. Curious what the fax says.
6 year old truck with 66,000 miles is NOT a low mileage vehicle. Its literally average mileage, about 11,000 miles a year put on this thing
That Volvo would sell in a week in a coastal city.... I sold mine in 3 days for $3k more than I bought it for 6 years earlier.... Maybe advertize it elsewhere with free delivery or a cash bonus for pickup?
Did you sell the Volvo between the time the video was recorded and Monday, Aug 28.
Great video, also what's with the Rolls Royce. My 17 F150 Platinum is going strong with 135k.
They sold it because it probably has the three major issues with them! 1. Cracked rear window frame and or third brake light. Fixable, but it will happen again. 2. Cracked exhaust manifold and or sheared manifold studs. Again fixable but will continue to happen! 3. Unexplainable intermittent storage humming noise that happens in all conditions (high speed, low speed, on the gas, off the gas, and any gear that it’s in. Not really fixable. They will say it’s fixed but it is not. I know people that have had the driveshaft replaced, alignments, tires balanced, tires replaced, a few electronic modules replaced (don’t know the names of them), and others…. I own one, it is a 5th gen (2019) and have ALL of these issues. The five other Ram 1500 owners I know have had the same. Doesn’t matter which gen either. 2019 and newer (2019-present) and 2017-2010 generation. I own a 2019 and I love the looks and interior but would NEVER BUY ONE AGAIN
Magnaflow and Borla make nice cat back exhausts for the Rams
Ok, so I watched more of the video, and yes Sales Managers can make money from wholesale sales it is far and few in between! Dealers put what’s called a “pack” on every vehicle, the service department usually eats all that up in high inflated sales “which is additional dealer profit” because what happens is it is transferred between departments and wrote off, making the money appear to disappear, which is not the case! Do not ever agree to a net profit % if you are a sales manager, only take a gross profit %… the dealership I work for has a standard service charge of $900, most of it is for wiper blades and oil changes, so you tell me, and god forbid a brake job or alignment!!!
its from canada, so the dodge will not warranty
66K miles is likely JUST outside of what they can certify them for, and they are probably looking to get maximum money given their very poor new sales and fairly full lots/limited space. The issue is that most dealers are overflowing with new trucks and more keep arriving from the factory. Corporate/the factory is oblivious to the fact that nobody is buying them at the instanely high prices they are asking.
So, the used market is once again exploding due to the disaparity in prices. My own car is almost worth what it was two years ago as new similar models are 35k+.
Looks like a great find.
The second one, likely because that generation Coyote engine is known to sometimes have problems and they don't want to take the chance. I'd get the engine looked at very carefully to see if it's not burning excessive oil or something else they "forgot to tell you about".
I’m not even going to watch the video. The answer is YES!
