Other than fiberglass, I've never worked with a more difficult, hairy, sticky (or not where you actually want the stuff to stick) material, so an excellent execution on your part, nice work!
Great job. Add a cut lap next time, strip of masking tape around the circumference to get a clean line. When it becomes rubbery and not sticky you can cut a clean line.
I would recommend using scissors or shears with a slight serrated edge when cutting fibre, carbon and kevlar. I found it gives a better cut as the material does not slip in the jaws when you cut it. The serrations do not need to be large if you can feel them with your finger that's fine. Unless you want to go the the expanse of ceramic scissors😃
Fiskars rotary cutter works wonderful for carbon. I use that for cutting repair swatches. Best part is when the blade wears out you replace it instead of being out a pair of shears.
Nice looking! I found doing the peel ply in 3 smaller pieces gave me much less fuss. One for each fin, then a rectangle down the middle over lapping them. I got a tip to tip video I think I explain it in.
@RocketVlogs so you wet the peel ply with resin? I am a begginer and I have only seen peel ply used to remove excess resin. I suppose you're making sure there is a resin rich surface under the peel ply? Is there any risk in doing this where the peel ply becomes difficult to remove? Thank you. I am going to attempt doing this myself since I want a shiny surface
You have to be a little careful laying up carbon on top of fibreglass as they have very different moduli. Because of carbons stiffness the fibreglass isn’t under any load and it’ll all go through the carbon layer.
Just ordered my Rocket Sunset shirt. I'm finishing up my LOC Vulcan to hopefully go for my L1 soon. Though I'm not near ready to attempt glass or CF, your videos have been very helpful. I think it would be cool to have a White Wolf to add to my collection!
Awsome video , thinking of laying up my level 1 loc IV fin can , is it possible if ive already painted ? Some club members told me its hard with it being cardboard
had a quick question about west system the mini pump set they sell is to long for some of the cans of hardener are you suppose to just cut to fit ? searched all over and can not find an answer to what im sure is a total noob question
@@RocketVlogs thanks i found that out i didnt see them in the package and didnt want to open in case i needed to return but found them, another question for you as far as filler what do you like to use? I was thinking the microlite.
Sorry I'm a day late! Reg Glare trip is coming up and in honor of that, use RG22 for FREE SHIPPING until March 31st! New Merch soon, too, hopefully! rocketvlogs.com
Why struggle cutting the carbon that way? You can easily get a piece of veil with some spray tack which will secure your carbon and allow you to cut nice and clean without tape.

Definitely. Proper shears or high end scissors make a massive difference when cutting CF

Easy peasy nice and easy. Thanks for sharing.

Fantastic Video. I appreciate your videos and love the channel. Thanks Braden.
Awesome job! Will be using this information to do the same to my 7.5 inch Warlock. 👍🚀

So, how long do you wait for the resin to cure without the vacuum? Cheers!
clear wont stick to 2500 sanded surfaces very well. you could have gone to 600 or 800 and itd have been fine
Nice technique, thanks for sharing!
That white wolf is a great looking kit
Such a good video keep the good work up 🥰

Cardboard doesn't make it any harder, but paint will. Ideally, you'd need to sand it all off.

Should come with different size straws to fit the Group A cans. If they're too long, you can trim them.

What about curing in an oven ?
I didn't do it.
@@RocketVlogs is it possible to obtain the necessary strength without curing in oven ?
@@shashankphansikar7094 Yes.
Can you say overbuild???
Actually if I had the time, I'd be doing the same thing to mine.
Where do you get the carbon fibre fabric?
Soller Composites!
@@RocketVlogs THANKS!
i JUST WANT 2 LEARN MORE ABOUT cf, PLEB!!
Who's the pleb, the guy with pretty hand-laid carbon fiber or the guy crying about it on the internet?
How do you get the edges? Do you wrap the cloth over one edge or something?
I just painted them black
I'll take the white wolf
Do u just like to sand? 😂 you were driving me nuts with this one LOL waayy too much sanding
