Guide to Cleaning the Sig Sauer P320:
The Sig Sauer P320 is a highly regarded modular handgun known for its reliability and versatility. Regular cleaning and maintenance are essential for ensuring your P320 operates smoothly and remains in excellent condition. This guide will provide a step-by-step process for cleaning your Sig Sauer P320.
    Step-by-Step Cleaning Process:
    1. Ensure Safety
Check for Ammunition: Make sure the handgun is unloaded. Remove the magazine and visually inspect the chamber to confirm it is empty.
Engage the Safety: Keep the firearm pointed in a safe direction during the cleaning process.
    2. Disassemble the Handgun
Remove the Magazine: Press the magazine release button to detach the magazine from the grip.
Check the Chamber: Confirm again that the chamber is empty.
    Field Strip the P320:
Pull the slide back slightly and lock it in the open position.
Rotate the takedown lever located on the left side of the frame down to the horizontal position.
While holding the slide back, pull it forward off the frame.
Remove the recoil spring and guide rod by pulling it out from the slide.
Tilt the barrel upward and remove it from the slide.
    3. Clean the Barrel
Use a Cleaning Rod: Attach a patch soaked in gun cleaning solvent to a cleaning jag and run it through the barrel from the chamber to the muzzle.
Scrub the Bore: Use a bronze or nylon brush on the cleaning rod to scrub the inside of the barrel, focusing on areas with carbon buildup and residue.
Dry the Barrel: Run clean, dry patches through the barrel until they come out clean.
Oil the Bore: Apply a light coat of gun oil to a clean patch and run it through the barrel for protection against corrosion.
    4. Clean the Slide and Frame
Use a Brush and Solvent: Dip a toothbrush or cleaning brush into gun cleaning solvent and scrub the inside of the slide and frame, focusing on areas where fouling accumulates.
Wipe Down Surfaces: Use rags or paper towels to wipe down the inside of the slide and frame, removing dirt and debris.
Clean the Firing Pin: Use a brush or patch soaked in solvent to clean around the firing pin and striker channel, ensuring it is free of fouling.
    5. Clean the Recoil Spring and Guide Rod
Wipe Down: Use a cloth or paper towel to clean the recoil spring and guide rod, removing any residue.
    6. Clean the Exterior
Wipe Down the Grip and Frame: Use a cloth or paper towel dampened with solvent to wipe down the grip and frame of the handgun, removing fingerprints and dirt.
Inspect for Damage: Check for any signs of wear, cracks, or damage that may require attention.
    7. Reassemble the Handgun
Insert the Barrel: Place the barrel back into the slide, tilting it slightly downward to secure it in place.
Reinsert the Recoil Spring and Guide Rod: Position the recoil spring and guide rod back into the slide.
Attach the Slide to the Frame: Align the slide with the frame and carefully slide it back into place until it locks securely.
    8. Final Lubrication and Inspection
Apply Lubrication: Use a small amount of gun oil on a clean patch or cloth to lubricate the moving parts, such as the slide rails and locking lugs.
Wipe Down the Exterior: Use a soft cloth to wipe down the exterior surfaces of the handgun to remove any fingerprints or excess oil.
    9. Store Properly
Final Inspection: Check to ensure everything is properly reassembled and functioning correctly.
Store in a Safe Place: Place the handgun in a secure and dry location, preferably in a gun safe, to protect it from damage.
    Additional Tips:
Frequency of Cleaning: Clean your Sig Sauer P320 after each use or at least every few months, depending on how often you shoot.
Avoid Over-lubrication: Excess oil can attract dirt and debris, so use it sparingly.
Use Quality Products: Invest in a good-quality cleaning kit and solvents for the best results.
By following these steps, you can maintain your Sig Sauer P320 in excellent condition, ensuring it performs reliably when you need it most. Regular maintenance enhances its performance and contributes to the longevity of your firearm. Subscribe to the Skull Crush Inc channel for more gun cleaning videos.

Nice video. I do want to make a comment that might help some viewers. When installing the guide rod your comment sounded like it should be obvious which way to install it. Actually, it is a very common problem to install it backwards. In addition, Sig doesn't make it easy because there are at least three different guide rods. I have three in front of me. The guide rod for the full size has a single spring and on mine and yours the breech end has a rectangular dimple in it. Compact and subcompact guide rods have two springs. The end with the double spring is the muzzle end. In addition some guide rods have the round breech end cutaway to have two flats on it. If it has flats the should be vertical so the narrow profile matches the barrel extension. As always, the manual is the best source of information.

Very helpful, thank you. My model is an X5 Legion, and the recoil spring isn't neatly packed on the rod like this one was. You have to (I assume) feed the loose spring end into the slide assembly and then compress it into place with the rod and then slip that into place against the barrel as shown in the video. Otherwise everything was the same.

Fortunately I saw it and slid it back in, although it still doesn't stay in place sometimes when I tip the FCU while outside of the grip module. Could anything have fallen out or gotten out of alignment in the seer housing while the pin was out? The gun dry fires fine but I have not taken it to the range yet. Thanks!
