I like to watch your video's and live vicariously through them. The love and care you have for Sierra is so dear to my heart, you even brought her bed! My girl Dublin had been down with bad discs but she is back up and will make it down to Rocky Point with me in a few weeks! Love our dogs!
Crappy beer. One of those breweries had 36 years from me and I ended up with a degree in Malting. Now if you had said "crappy irresponsible trashy beers drinkers", I would wholeheartedly agree!!!!! I am positive those companies do not endorse throwing their empty containers around the environment. I certainly cannot say enough negative things about those types. I try to do my bit and carry out trash not put there by myself. I laud the fact that you do the same. Thanks for sharing ☺
Liked the informative video. And thanks for cleaning up.. We do the same when we are on bike tours. Most people will put trash in trashcans if they are near by. The problem is the parks service, the camp sights don't empty them when they are full, and that is why people give up and dump it instead of hauling it out. That isn't an excuse, just a fact. People all want a clean place to camp. but they don't want to put in too much effort searching out a can with enough room to dump trash.
Really appreciate the bacountry cleanup you do! You'll never find my craft IPAs littered around campsites! Leave no trace, love the vids and keep trucking
Thanks for following along, Jess Trudeau! Living off grid permanently in the Canadian backcountry would be incredible. You all have much colder winters than what we experience in the US so I'd love to test my cold weather skills in that environment. Have a great evening! ~ Brian
As always thank you for being a positive in my day. Love your pup, she is gorgeous and a great companion. Heads up there is another massive system that will plow into the West Coast in about 10 days and head to the interior West in case you were thinking bout coming back to Co anytime soon. I think this will be the biggest snow producer so far this season. Peace.
I grew up camping. I've spent almost the last 20 years raising kids. In 2012 me and my wife had a major financial downturn. We've struggled for a long time. I don't say this to garner sympathy, rather the day is fast approaching where she and I will be able to travel, and ditch the traditional 9 to 5 jobs and sticks and bricks home. I absolutely love your overland on a budget travel style..
It's great, I have to say this is my favorite type of camping. I absolutely love it when the snow is falling outside while I'm comfy/cozy inside next to the stove. There's nothing better! Hope your week is going great, Haydee! ~ Brian
Im trying to decide between this tent and the Alaknak. Cabela's makes a pretty good product so i cant really go wrong. These vids help people out man! Keep up the good life
Hopefully Cabela's will take a hint from you and include winter-vent covering options: velcro strips with tent-fabric + reflectix - better than the duct-tape option. A reflectix interior removable "ceiling" would also really help keep heat near the ground.
Glad you're enjoying some of the mountains of my native state! In all seriousness there is a lot of beauty there....you just have to modify your expectations. It's not an in-your-face kind of thing. Kansas, babe!
Hey David! Yeah, I love this area! I went to school at Kansas State from 1993-1998 and used to come down to the Council Grove and Cottonwood Falls area to camp/hike. I've always loved the history of the Flint Hills. Towns like Council Grove are right up my alley, I could see myself settling down there one day. Are you still living in KS? ~ Brian
@@OffGridBackcountryAdventures No, not for many years. I was born in Hays(NW KS), lived in Ulysses(SW)as a kid, also in Hutchinson. Then Oklahoma for a long time and now in W. North Carolina for the past 25 years.......the so-called "flyover states" do indeed have a lot going for them. If you haven't, you should read William Least Heat-Moon's book "PrairyErth: A Deep Map" which is about the Flint Hills. A good book for those nasty winter days when you can't be outside, or don't want to be!
I'm always surprised to see a few thumbs down on your videos...especially this one. I mean you started it off with bacon cooking, amongst the other positive content you shared. I guess there's always gonna be a few canoe's out there!
Hi Klas Stefan, thanks for subbing my channel! I'm making an effort to post up daily since I have an unlimited mobile hotspot so I look forward to making more videos about winter camping. I'm currently in Kansas but will be heading West starting in January making my way to California by the 1st of March. I'm excited to get into some good snowstorms in Colorado up in the mountains. I always enjoy hanging out in this tent while a storm rages outside. Hope your after afternoon is going good! ~ Brian
Oh, Thank You for cleaning up those sites, every little bit helps. 🔥 About the cheesy beer can brands, its my opinion for your comment, its young kids or younger adults that's trashing these area's on the weekends. 👍 Jeff
Was thinking of this tent. Have you had it in snow and blowing snow conditions. Wondering about the drafts and how it holds up to wind. Tha is for the upload. God bless
I just put upmy bighorn 3 with camp chef barrel stove. Had problem with stovepipe ring burning. I didn't have stovepipe 100% straight up and perpendicular to the stove. Just wondering if you had same problem. I'm hoping that not having stovepipe 100%str8 up was my problem. Any thoughts. Got 5 inch stovepipe and rings same. Any help be appreciated. Tx. Just watched your video again. Was wondering how to regulate the heat. I'll be doing the same for events. Cheers
Good tips, how does this tent work in cold temps? I would winter camp with my kids and a wood stove -- But I hear cabelas tents have some condensation issues in cold weather.
Good show today Brian. I'm really impressed with the tent and winter setup. I have a lot of relatives up around Concordia, Ks. I'm out in Kansas every fall and have camped around Salina, Ks. before. Is the National Park close to either of those cities? Take care. Vaughn
Another good video... been watching a lot of your videos. Looking for advice. Have a camp in Michigan 3 hours north of where I live. Had a travel trailer but got tired of the maintenance and mice.... sold it. Looking for a tent for base camp. Considering a using my Alaskan Guide 3 season or purchasing a Bighorn w/vestibule, stove or the Cabelas Xtreme 4 season. I mostly camp solo one in a while with my wife. Would consider setting it up in Mid September and take down Mid November. Will use it for 1 full week and 3-4 long weekends. Or possibly put up and take down each trip. Would really appreciate your/some guidance. Thanks
Dont know if you know but Cabellas is either completely out of the big horn3 tent as well as the Alaknak tents!!All they have is meow tents!!What is up? Is that it?
My tent has a center pole with vent at the top. I don't know why it didn't occur to me to cover that. As soon as the stove starts to go low or out it gets cold quick. Thanks for pointing out the obvious to me.
Yeah, it sure does get cold quick when the stove goes out and these vents aren't covered! As soon as I started putting reflectix over these openings, it completely changed how I run my stove. I rarely ever have it full bore with the covers and I've found I don't chew through as much wood as I did when the vents were exposed. Have a great evening, Florence Quarry. ~ Brian
I have a horrible time with my Big Horn 2 and condensation. As soon and I add heat inside the tent and that warm air hits the cold ceiling it drips horribly! Is this your experience too?
Just subscribed. Good videos dude. Just wondering what you do for cash? Maybe you mentioned it in other videos? How do you pay for insurance on your truck, cell phone, supplies, etc...?🤷
This time of year throw an orange bandanna around your dogs neck. Deer hunting season, when I was a kid my best friend lost a dog to a hunter who thought it was a deer.
Steve, thank you so much for this suggestion. I'm heading into town now to pick one up for Sierra. I never thought about this risk, I'd be heartbroken if I lost Sierra in a scenario like this. Thank you! ~ Brian
***👍Brian, I subscribed 3 or 4 months ago and love your channel. ...have you considered on contacting CABELA about your improvised improvements to the tent. ......seems like some easy design changes they could do considering the cost of this tent........Thanks again on great video's. 👍👍 Jeff
My brother from another mother! Douche canoe is the best phase I've found to describe those lost souls out there who spend countless hours being mad at their computer screen. Those folks need to go for a hike. ~ Brian
I hate people who trash campsites especially when you’re out on state game land and you pull up nobody around but there’s trash everyplace just pisses me off to no end I end up doing the same thing you did clean it all up so it’s not an eyesore for myself while I am there I would love to catch the people when they’re doing it although I have in the past and taught them a valuable lesson, something your daddy should’ve taught them when they were young...!!!
My favorite kind of day! Thank you so much for cleaning up after the messy people.
Yeah, lazy days at camp are the best!

What did you pick
Another great video 🤘 👍.
Dude I am using that - douche canoe. I just about fell off my chair laughing when you said that. I can use that when I get back to work.
Yup, same here - LMAO!!!
I just said the same thing. Wasn't expecting that at all lol
Hopefully Cabela's will take a hint from you and include winter-vent covering options: velcro strips with tent-fabric + reflectix - better than the duct-tape option. A reflectix interior removable "ceiling" would also really help keep heat near the ground.

Have you ever had trouble with sparks burning holes through the outside of the tent? We bought a tent and got a couple nice holes on our first fire!

You have a very special dog 😁
Let's set up camp in Silverton or Lake City. Nice cool weather. A little snow. Good test for the hot tent.

I recognize the lake. Nice little lake! How well does that cabelas big horn tent handle Kansas wind? Is it warm enough?

How hard was that big tent to put by ur self
Looks like the flint hills area. My son is out there at ft Reilly. Check out Milford lake area.

Hey bud ,nice I use the alacnak tent 👍🔥🏕🍺
Hi Richard, those are great tents! I've heard from many individuals who use the same one you do and they all love it.
Where in Kansas? What lake?
What about condensation
lol I thought I was the only one using the douche canoe line!!!

Crappy people drinking crappy beer. ....sure is fitting.
Craft beer is wine coolers for pog's.

The funny thing is that there's usually a trash can like 20 feet away from where they threw their trash on the ground. 🤔
It’s disheartening how people behave throwing trash everywhere. I hate it when i see it in the campground!!!!!!!!!
Teenagers can't afford the good beer.
