    Lenovo made the most non-sense decision on earth, but still there is a workaround. Thank you.

      I must say it is weird decision to had these button flip by default.Even after getting a key swap it kinda bit annoying having a smaller key as the control key which is way more used.

    Amazing video Brian!
    I jst got an X1 and ended up on this video. I was shocked Lenovo made this no brain ridiculous decision.
    But i really thank to Windows who's willing to modify its Bios, in order to pickup Lenovo's nonsense.
    But the Fn key size is smaller than the Ctrl key, though 😢

      Glad it was able to help, I am also not use to doing this too so I would do the swap too since I use external keyboard a lot, just easier to move between the built in keyboard and external keyboard.

    Try F12. There is also an option to switch the Fn and Ctrl key in (F12) Keyboard manager on thinkpad p1.

      Would like to hear the answer for this question, thought I think not, because the keys are of different size. Mb there is an alternative keyboard of some kind, to swap the keyboard entirely

    can i switch FN to Ctrl function key of thinkpad trackpoint 2 Bluetooth keyboard?

  • @Minsang1st
    @Minsang1st 4 года назад

    for some reason, this doesn't work for me. I had to update my bios for even the other two options the fn lock and f1-f12 default (not exactly sure what they were called) to show up. When I do this swap, my fn key will just become useless and I won't have a ctrl key to work with which is really frustrating. I reinstalled my windows, updated my bios, updated my drivers (including keyboard ones) and it's still doing this. Any ideas why?

    On any thinkpad, in MS-Paint application Ctrl + '+' or CTRL + SHIFT + '+' does not increase eraser size, but this combination works on on-screen-keyboard. Can you explain how can we do it on normal keyboard.

    Hi, will this process work on an external Apple magic keyboard as well? I'm thinking of switching the FN and Ctrl function keys on the magic keyboard which will be connected to my Lenovo laptop. Many thanks!!

    On my client laptop Lenovo I have no access to BIOS and cannot install external software: is there a way to swap Fn and Ctrl?

    • @BsianTech
      @BsianTech  5 лет назад +1

      Hi Kumbaya, without access to the BIOS and can't install software then I won't know another way to remap the keys on the keyboard unfortunately. If the computer has the Lenovo software already preinstalled the software you are after is called "Hotkey Features Integration" this is where you can swap the FN and Ctrl.

    • @Marius_Elmore
      @Marius_Elmore 4 года назад +1

      To access it you gotta go to Settings > Restore > Restart. That's how to get to the Bios but to access that grey blue screen you gotta pres Troubleshoot > Advanced and go to the thing that says UEFI something. Then you follow Bsaian's instructions.
      Hope this helps, I had the same problem and now it works.

    They way it is designed is better. Reaching with pinky for CTRL at the end is too far. I am not sure why people who can write with all fingers would prefer CTRL so far away.
