my solution, drilled a hole and used a rubber plug to get to the pinion. Your right as for noise, can hear it on the bench but out and running, no noticeable difference.
Sweet motor mount brotha! I think I wanna get that motor mount for mine, I don’t really like the plastic stock one, my motor was put in kind of cocked n made the whole truck sound like it was grinding gears caused by the vibration of the motor being angled. Great video bro
Looks identical to several other brands. In have in both my TRX-6 and TRX-4 Sport but removed it from the Sport due to excess noise. Will remove from TRX-6 too.
I think the louder gear noise could be from the aluminum itself. The plastic absorbs the vibration while the aluminum is more solid so the sound is amplified through the mount into the chassis.
I bought that cover/mount awhile ago. Took some time to make it over here. Haven't installed it yet. You gotta have a Revolver vs. Kratos Six vs. TenShock 906 test.
Exocaged RC I'm waiting on Tom to come out with the unsensored Kratos Six version. If you get the chance....I'm curious how it runs without the sensor-wire plugged in. I was thinking about the 1900kv one. The 3700 has some appeal to it...especially if it crawls as good as Tom says. I just despise that big ugly sensor-wire always in the way....just one of the reasons i like the simplicity of the Revolver and TenShock.
yeah he mentioned that motor to me, for the general trail guy thats just out to have fun you can get by with no sensor wire, I compete a lot with mine so any advantage is a great thing.
Hi mate, do I’m loving your channel so much it’s really helping with my trx4 build.. Are you still using these motor mounts ? I was thinking about getting one as I’ve just put the stock one on my TRX4 build and there is a far bit of unwanted movement on the stock plastic motor mount..
nice. bad news. my UDR's trailing arms seemed a little bent when I bought the truck. a couple days ago, one snapped. I'm getting aluminum replacements, but they arrive any time between the 9th and the 30th next month. RIP
Appreciate you sharing I got there steering servo ain't hooked it up yet, I have a question!! Do you still have to pull the red wire out of the steering connector where goes into the receiver
Dude, I fiited an alloy kvx alloy motor mount and gear box support to my trx4 today and it sounds awful.. Like your alloy one soynds different only worse. Could this be the mesh or just the case being different? Im getting properly frustrated. I dont really want to break anything. Everything seems to run OK but that noise is driving me crazy..
I actually have made a bunch of servo winches but never recorded the process. It's not too bad to do, take it apart and remove the limit pin on the output gear, remove the potentiometer and the board and solder the JST connector straight to the motor tabs. For a winch controller I use a Hobywing 1060 esc
I use my hacked 8ch gt3c radio, its awesome and I use the 1060 esc as the winch controller. I don't use any of those add on keyfob looking things. I recently put up a video of me installing a hacked gt3c radio in a trx4 bronco. Maybe two - three weeks ago
From what I was told the SW4 is the best non sensored brushless esc in production and it works best with a 6-pole, maybe give the Tenshock motors a try, I have a video of them already.
@@ExocagedRC Good to hear. Im getting ready to put a 2700 puller pro in my sport and im sure the plastic mount wont like that haha thanks man for the reply
Exocaged RC could you tell me what motor that is in the video, I use a simular one but I'm not sure if it over heats or what because the system always turns off power too the motor even tho it isn't really hot
That’s a castle 3800kv slate motor with a 9t pinion and on 3S. It also has a castle mamba x esc with timing turned to 0. I don’t ever have any heat issues. Make sure your truck is rolling smooth with no binding anywhere.

Awesome test. You surprised the cat a few times with your jumping skills. Thanks for sharing

cool, direct link is in the description
4yrs later. Back to the future Joe

Great work

yeah thats probably it. Had no issues with it, it now has a Kratos 6 pole 18 slot motor 3800kv, very nice motor.
Exocaged RC looks good nice solid mount though. No flex on the mount when it torques up. 👍
Michael Burgess I was thinking the same thing.
Exocaged RC You should do a Kratos motor test against vs. Revolver vs. a TenShock 6-pole 906 motor.
That would be an awesome comparison of all three.
How does that motor compare to a TFL SSS 3656 2030KV 6 pole motor?
I bought that cover/mount awhile ago. Took some time to make it over here. Haven't installed it yet.
You gotta have a Revolver vs. Kratos Six vs. TenShock 906 test.
I'd have to get a 1900kv Kratos motor, the 3800 Kratos I have now would be so far out of the KV range it wouldn't be a good comparison.

Nice trx 4 💪👌
Thanks for the good information.👍😲😃

Bilbo Baggins o deer
Why didn't you get the MFR links like I have?
SWEETNESS... LOOKS GOOD!!!
Appreciate you sharing I got there steering servo ain't hooked it up yet, I have a question!! Do you still have to pull the red wire out of the steering connector where goes into the receiver
The 3BRC servo is awesome. No you don’t have to remove a servo wire or anything. Simply plug it in.
Good information 👌🏼
Nice rig did you make your floor pans?
Yep. Sheet metal aluminum
Thanks for letting me know Exo
Looks good, but ! Lol, I think you summed it up!

I think it simply could be the aluminum transferring the sound way more than the plastic does. Is yours really loud?
A little work with a rat-tail file on those motor bolt holes and you should be able to reduce the amount of slop between the pinion and spur.
I actually am no longer using this mount but once everything was secured it tightened up pretty good
Try using a ball tip hex to get to the grub screw.....
I’ve never had any luck with the ball tips getting a pinion tight enough to stay in place.
Did you do a video on that winch you have there? It looks very DIY and in line with what Im looking to do with my scx10.2.

so do you use one of those 3rd party winch controllers, or do you just have a second transmitter?
I use my hacked 8ch gt3c radio, its awesome and I use the 1060 esc as the winch controller. I don't use any of those add on keyfob looking things. I recently put up a video of me installing a hacked gt3c radio in a trx4 bronco. Maybe two - three weeks ago
I might have to pick one of those up, didnt know they could be hacked to do two escs!
Oh yeah, they can do more than that and I hack and sell them if you decide to get one.
Do all the trx4 have a little motor slop? I have a Holmes hobbie puller pro 3500kv
yeah they all do, gotta have some clearance there for smooth operation
Would've happen to know if I could crawl with the SW4 + 3800-4500KV Castle Creation of Holmes Hobbies motor would ya?
From what I was told the SW4 is the best non sensored brushless esc in production and it works best with a 6-pole, maybe give the Tenshock motors a try, I have a video of them already.
How tf do you have a neutral???
Any updates?
I haven’t had any issues at all with it and I’ve put 4-5 motors in it so I’d have to say it’s working perfectly fine.
@@ExocagedRC Good to hear. Im getting ready to put a 2700 puller pro in my sport and im sure the plastic mount wont like that haha thanks man for the reply
Nice motor and yeah the stock mount won’t have any issue holding that motor.
But can it handle bashing?
lol yeah it sure can, did you watch to the end of the video?
Exocaged RC yes but that isn't drive shafts bending bashing like I like to do
I never had an issue with breaking the stock shafts due to the almost 7-1 ratio in the axles. The truck in this video has MIP driveshafts
Exocaged RC could you tell me what motor that is in the video, I use a simular one but I'm not sure if it over heats or what because the system always turns off power too the motor even tho it isn't really hot
