That's what I'm thinking. The acoustics in the recording point to this for me. It sounds in no way like many people doing different impressions. I think you have it, Croix, I honestly do.
+Shinbu1128 I know. I am no less impressed than if he HAD done all those impressions himself. This was still a monumental undertaking and worked to perfection. I showed the real video to my husband and he was fooled all the way to the end, and he has an excellent ear.
Sir 15 seconds of Bora Maraca was very proud of his whistling, he's the hymn for a Scarecrow whistle after all which automatically makes him the whistle God
I am very quick to call BS to most internet videos, but this one had me totally fooled!!! I'm incredibly impressed by his lip-syncing abilities!!! I had no idea!!!! I love this guy even more now!!!!
Look at some guys on the internet, they do some amazing impressions of trumpets by pressing their lips together and letting air escape similarly to a trumpet, some awesome talent out there
You don't call an illusionist out for "pretending to do magic", you know it's not real, even though the illusionist would say it is. This is really very creative and i love the concept. I admire all the work that went into this and all the creativity and dedication of each of these great voice actors. Also huge props to the sound designer for that great blending. As a graphic designer I know how much work something like this can be, although myself am completely clueless as to how audio is mixed properly.
OMG! Can't you people see when you're being trolled?!?! THIS video is obviously the fake, and Mister Rob Cantor --impressionist extraordinaire & comedic trickster-- actually did everyone of those impressions. I always knew he could sing Shakira like a champ, but this super meta parody video tops even his vocal chops. Win!
Hah, I don't know how to feel. On one hand, I completely believed that the original video was just Rob and Andrew sitting in a room and shooting the breeze. It was an amazing feeling, being tricked. On the other hand, I'm disappointed that Rob doesn't hold this prowess himself but am appreciative that he gave all of these wonderful people credit. The video was extremely well-done. To an enamoured fan like myself, it seemed exactly like Rob was making all of the voices himself. I couldn't be more pleased; for some reason, I don't resent him at all for tricking us -- this new knowledge only makes the original video better.
Ah HAH, Your leg! It's caught in a bear trap! Otherwise known as a Cantor trap. Otherwise known as a.... hoax? :) Well done, Rob and everyone involved!
To the people saying he's a dichead and he lied and blabla... the title said "29 Celebrity Impressions, 1 Original Song" I don't see it saying "29 celebrity impressions by done by 1 man, 1 original song" They are impressions so i don't see anything wrong here. *flies away*
Why so many dislikes? I was mind blown, this is such an awesome project and an awesome idea. Really awesome of Rob to think about this and gather all these talents and edit them together to make a viral video. The whole concept is genius and it came out to be genius. Yeah a lot of people said it could be fake and it was but at least he showed us how he did it. Amazing, bets of luck to him. I hope he's gonna make even more crazy projects in the future :)
Check his video for "All I Need Is You" for a beautiful gif-tastic video with a lot of little hidden messages. Oh, and music videos for his band Tally Hall... especially Good Day. There's lots of genius in and around Rob.
I'm really bummed out. I just learned Gandalf wasn't actually a wizard, and that he was actually played by this poser actor who was only pretending to be a wizard. I trusted Peter Jackson, and he really let me down. Some place in my heart I always knew it, but it's just so disappointing.
I think it is freakin' genius. A lot of good entertainers got exposure to help them with their careers as well as talented technicians adding to the their work portfolio - a lot of hard/rewarding work went into this endeavor. Kudos!!
When I was watching the original I remember during certain impressions thinking "Man, he soudnsd liek Brock Baker doing an impression". Welp, there goes my mind.
Caroline Lafferty Well, I mean, I guess you can be a little disappointed. However, it's like I said in another comment, all this effort these guys put just to make you smile for a bit is simply astounding. Don't forget that aspect of it :p
Caroline Lafferty I think it's fine, it was a just the music video for the song, and if you read the description before watching, it's clear that he was very transparent about it. Though I liked that I got to watch it with the illusion of it being him, up until he did the trumpet atleast.
Caroline Lafferty Well, doing half of them would've been physically impossible for one person. Even most of the male impressions require a pretty impressive vocal range.
TheGuyThatDoesTheThing That's why I was so impressed to begin with, because of the seemingly inhuman vocal range this guy appeared to have. It's still a nice production but it would have been nicer if there had been one person who was actually capable of something like this.
I feel like someone gave me a delicious chocolate cake, but then I realized it was made out of crap. But I still ate it because this song is awesome anyways
***** But she's not a dolphin. She's a pretty lady in her fifties with a hilarious sense of humor and a great smile. If she wants to make dolphin sounds during sex, I'm cool with that.
Look up mouth trumpet tutorials. It's a thing, and some people are that good at it. But I guess now that I think about it, judging from this video, my whole life might be a lie anyway....
AceAttorny I totally agree XD Having studied music for 8 years (and subsequently listening to tumpets for 8 years), I instantly knew that the trumpet bit was fake.
Lindsey Alvarez, you are the star of this thing. I only had a small shred of doubt when I finished watching it - that was some great editing! A mighty fine job to all the impersonators as well, and of course to Rob for some mighty fine lip sync.
This is hilarious, it's like people thought he sat down, came up with this devious plan whilst steepling his fingertips a la "Mr. Burns" style, and thinking to himself "I'm going to fool the crap out of all the idiots in the world, muahahahahaha." He's a fun guy, he came up with a fun plan to do something fun with his friends (Who AGREED to it...), they had fun and figured they'd share their fun on the internet, and a week later posted "ha, gotcha!" I mean, they made the "How we made this" video WHILE THEY WERE DOING IT. They clearly had no intention of keeping the charade going, and knew people would call them out. This showcases two things: 1) His talent as a songwriter. I like the song personally. 2) His talent at lipsyncing. Go back and watch it, his lip syncing is spot on almost the whole time, just look at his mouth and facial expressions. I want an actual logical explanation as to why so many people feel so offended by this. I've scrolled through all the comments and I've yet to see one, they just keep saying "I'm mad" and go off in their juvenile corner. That or they're trolling. In which case troll on. Cheers.
I had a hunch, a nagging voice telling me that this couldn't be just one voice. Impressive work, though. I'm surprised even the whistling was done by someone else. Mr Cantor can whistle, though, can't he?
Rob CAN whistle, it's just that Bora can whistle way better. It's not the first time Bora's whistled in recording, either. Check out Hymn For a Scarecrow by Tally Hall, which is the band Rob's in. Bora did the whistling on that, too.
"We're gonna perform an original song for you with 29 celebrity impressions." Hey, he never said they were his impressions, but they were impressions nonetheless.
Sam Wise Is the songwriting itself not genuine talent or creative expression? Yes, the lip-synching for this specific music video is a marketing ploy, but if you'll just take a look at his other videos...
Yes, it was fake. But the song was really good, so I bought his album and cant stop listening to it. This is the most impressive way I have ever seen to get your name out there, and I couldn't respect him more.
Even though the song wasn't sung by a single person, I ,personally, still think that this video was pretty amazing. Stumbled across this video by chance when i was checking out a video by game theorists, which eventually through the comments section and browsing through the other videos, took me here. What I'm trying to say is i find it really amazing how all of you guys agreed to do something like this, which turned out to be really entertaining. I mean , while you didn't do any of the voice acting/singing , you managed to bring these guys together, and what makes all of this amazing is when you decided to come out and tell us that this video was made with the help of those other awesome guys! Honestly, that's one of the hardest things to do. I seriously, think this video deserves more views and so does the original video, it's full of talent people! What is there not to love! I mean seriously, I'm pretty sure showing this to a random stranger would still leave them amazed even if you told them it was made by several people !
Rob Cantor's impression of Rob Cantor.. perfect. Also, I can't believe SOOO many people fell for this. I honestly think only Tally Hall fans knew better. Hmmm..
***** That wasn't meant to be a jab at Tally Hall fans. It was a "we all, as fans, knew this was partially a joke" I'm damn proud of not just Rob, but all of them in their own endeavor's.
amy small I don't think it's that he _can't_ whistle, I think it's more like it just sounded better with someone else doing it in the pre-recorded audio.
Lol I know I was kinda mad when it said "This was fake click here" and I still wana know WHY exactly put so much effort into something fake? I mean, yeah it's clever and obviously tricked a lot of us... but why not just show to talented people from the beginning lol...
Honestly, why didn't he just show who was really singing? It's already impressive that a relatively small group can do that many voices. So, why did he have to fake a more impressive feat of it being all from one person and then make the truth less exciting when the truth would have been fairly awesome in its own right?
+lawrence Oh God, not this again. When he ORIGINALLY posted the video on RUclips, there was no indication that it was fake. The extra comments in the description was added about 1-2 weeks after it went viral.
Were you not glad to see this? Was your life not changed for the better, to hear these sweet lyrics, and sung comically by some of your favorite celebrities? Were you not glad to sneak to his webpage and hear those slickly L.A.- produced songs, or to see the other thought provoking videos on his list? Without Rob Cantor, you never would have felt and shared those emotions that video gives you - ever. Thank you to all involved, I love this project, and hope for some more songs given the all-star impersonation comic treatment.
Even if it is fake, the other people playing as these celebrities have some talent. They must be known somehow for this man to contact him, so good for them!
It is called a trackball, i don't know how people get used to it, but the main deal they say is that you don't have to move your arm to move the mouse, you use virtually just your thumb. Precision is not a problem though, there are even pro gamers that use it, it is just a matter of getting used to it.
***** That's interesting ty I got decent playing Halo CE with a trackpad but it was difficult hand positioning and having to click the button too, this looks kinda useful
I love this video and the actual video. So creative with lovely voices. Might I add that i was completely fooled. Great job. Although I was a little suspicious when the girl voices kicked in, but still just believe you had an incredible range. Either way i loved it. And the fact that you made a behind the scenes video.
bora is always there whenever theres anything from the tally hall members. so common this is that i bet if you are going in for a medical procedure led by zubin your nurse will probably be bora.
I thought he did them all...It's like my heart just broke into a thousand dissapointed pieces and then reglued back together because watching all those people do impressions is still amazing
Oh man, he didn't do ANY of these voices though. I'm impressed at the lengths he went to in order to pull this off. That within itself is worthy of attention.
NO WAYYYY!!! I admit it, you fooled me for a while. Now seeing this, all the talent and collaboration is overwhelmingly perfect. Thank you for sharing your gifts
Way to own up and show the world. This may not be your 29 expressions, but it doesn't matter now, it's art, you've shown that. Plus it's humor, an art in itself.
I feel a lot better about myself that this was the work of a bunch of talented people instead of just an insanely skilled impressionist. Great job everyone. You had a lot of folks fooled, myself included. Such a seamless production.
Rob and crew: Absolutely amazing! Rob, your lip-synch was dead-on! Cool song, and loved that you had many friends helping you with this! One of the coolest things "out there"!
lol..I thought he was using software to mimic some of those voices..everytime I hear Melissa's Aguilera it blows my mind, she should be so freakin' famous, gorgeous and unreal pipes.
Honestly, the work that went into this hoax is art in itself.
Yup
I knew he couldn't do those girl voices haha
even though this is an afterthought, well done for "getting it". Honestly though, it wasn't worth getting tbh.
Honestly I totally fell for it just because of people like nick pitera
even if it was a hoax his lip sync was on fleek
what if THIS is the hoax, and the original video is actually just rob cantor doing those impressions?
Whether this is true or not, I think we can all agree that this is a ludicrous level of effort that they put into a single shitpost
Croix OH SHITTTT
That's what I'm thinking. The acoustics in the recording point to this for me. It sounds in no way like many people doing different impressions. I think you have it, Croix, I honestly do.
What if Shia LaBeouf actually did every one of the impersonations?
Bro you got me fucked up, I had to reply off my wife’s phone bro this shot got me flabbergasted, absolutely befuddled… some would even say… bamboozled
Whoever impersonated Rob Cantor is amazing, I would've never guessed that part was fake!
same! it was spot on!
Rob did the part at the end
that was the joke...

Did you not question the fucking trumpet?
Anonymous User I've seen people be able to mimic sounds perfectly with their voice before so not straight away no
+Blaize The Billie Holliday voice was done by one of the guys. There are plenty of impressionists who do voices of both genders!
+Blaize same

I WAS WAITING FOR THIS COMMENT! I was totally thinking it earlier today, and you just write it better than I could have!
who would've tought 2 years later Melissa Villaseñor would be on SNL
right?
Hah, I don't know how to feel. On one hand, I completely believed that the original video was just Rob and Andrew sitting in a room and shooting the breeze. It was an amazing feeling, being tricked. Well done!

I noticed that too!! ;0;
Everything in my life now is a lie.
But dont be sad the voices was from diferente people not the celebrities that support me
At least he gave them all credit. And he used real celebrity impressions.
Putting the 'Cant' in 'Cantor'

He just wants to see how many people he trolls. If you have an idea, might as well overthink it and troll people on the Internet.
***** its not really trolling if you show its fake in the description of that video
Cj cathead most people wont read the description. u had to watch the whole video to find out otherwise
Or maybe he wanted people to think it was all him
Stefan Larsen then you watch the whole video.... usually they put things in the end
I knew he couldn't have gotten Shakira and Britney so right with his tone but that is amazing editing
I've never been so impressed but simultaneously disappointed in my life...bravo, Rob!
i feel cheated
why, it's in the description of the original video
^ This right here needs to be the top comment.
tl;dr = WERE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?!
the frank sinatra guy really made me surprised. it sounded so perfect.
You know it's THE SHIT when you have a viewing party.
Even if it is fake, the other people playing as these celebrities have some talent. They must be known somehow for this man to contact him, so good for them!
3:13 wtf is that mouse....
It is called a trackball, i don't know how people get used to it, but the main deal they say is that you don't have to move your arm to move the mouse, you use virtually just your thumb. Precision is not a problem though, there are even pro gamers that use it, it is just a matter of getting used to it.
It's not a mouse it's a rat
***** That's interesting ty
I got decent playing Halo CE with a trackpad but it was difficult hand positioning and having to click the button too, this looks kinda useful
***** I know XD i was just saying that I didn't realize people used them anymore. I've seen them before but just didn't think they were still a thing.
Cameron Barb Mostly a thing when you're 3D modeling nowadays. Don't want to move your arm everywhere just to move a model.
I love this video and the actual video. So creative with lovely voices. Might I add that i was completely fooled. Great job. Although I was a little suspicious when the girl voices kicked in, but still just believe you had an incredible range. Either way i loved it. And the fact that you made a behind the scenes video.
If you had footage of everyone singing their part you should post that too
bora is always there whenever theres anything from the tally hall members. so common this is that i bet if you are going in for a medical procedure led by zubin your nurse will probably be bora.
I'm pretty sure that the girl who did the Christina, Britney and Bjork impressions was on America's Got Talent.
Yeah she was
What's her name?
+Anna Johnson Melissa Villasenor
+Micah Bowe ok thanks
Knowing it took more than one singer to sing this piece makes me feel so much better about myself as a musician!
The comments are mostly about how everyone thought it was real when in the description it showed the credit to the voices ;u;
Damn...this is genius, but I'm honestly so disappointed. I TRUSTED YOU.
haha nonetheless, good job.
10 years later and I'm just now finding out it wasn't all him, damn.
I’m right there with you 🤣 fully believed it
Rob looks a hell of a lot like Renly Baratheon.
Nothing pleases me more than knowing that Bora did the whistling.
MELISSA VILLASEÑOR WAS IN THIS??? If anyone doesn't know, she's on SNL now, that's awesome!!!
Way to own up and show the world. This may not be your 29 expressions, but it doesn't matter now, it's art, you've shown that. Plus it's humor, an art in itself.
I am so fooled, man. I can't believe it was fake, but that's still good. I love the video even more. Bruh.
saraiah morgan He put in a lot of time. I admire that.
I feel a lot better about myself that this was the work of a bunch of talented people instead of just an insanely skilled impressionist. Great job everyone. You had a lot of folks fooled, myself included. Such a seamless production.
Why am i not surprised, it was too good to be true
Rob and crew: Absolutely amazing! Rob, your lip-synch was dead-on! Cool song, and loved that you had many friends helping you with this! One of the coolest things "out there"!
Bloody. Fucking. Brilliant.
I am officially subscribed.
lol..I thought he was using software to mimic some of those voices..everytime I hear Melissa's Aguilera it blows my mind, she should be so freakin' famous, gorgeous and unreal pipes.
0:59 is amazingly so perfect
Hi
So cool
Solomon Young I miss him so much
omg at 0:47 i just noticed he has the album art of tally hall on his wall, both mmmm and good and evil. yay
