This is true.
There are thousands of people doing the exact same thing and after ten years they became insolvent or hardly can pay rent. So this is not about how to do something right. It is about how Paul has the karma to become rich. Karma to become rich means that in your past life you did good things for other people. So it just happens miraculously. If Paul would have opened a food store he would also be a billionaire right now. It is not about that he did this and that. The question is of course, whether this is the goal of life, to become rich? A life in luxury lasts for maybe twenty, or thirty years or maybe fifty years and when we leave we can't take anything with us.

If a good amount of folks do what you say, just imagine how many millionaires we already have or will have in the future. I have been looking at similar opportunities. As Noah noted, he has witnessed this occur frequently. Never did my Husband and I make more money than others in the middle class. With a $250k stock portfolio, we intend to retire at age 58. Never have we ever sold even one share of stock...
I think though this was well put out, but it isn't for me. Factoring a young mid income, short term minded person with constant need for cash, are these still recommended? I am new to all of these and have incurred so much losses, I am beginning to think I am not doing what is good for me but good for others

That’s the thing. Not everyone Can do this, because not everyone wants to be wrong with how they handle their life. Pride will hold you down like a professional wrestler. Millions of people can hear this advice, but how many people can admit they are living the wrong way and come to accept that they will not be miserable. The old saying you have to spend money to make money is painfully true and most people find it too scary to spend big or small on something that make yield absolutely nothing. You got to think things through and you have to be open to suffering, and you have to be able to stand back up after a huge blow/commit to a sinking ship in hopes it can make it back to land. Regardless business risky and I’m not above calling it gambling. Playing it safe is why most people will stick to their safe factory jobs but these jobs sap energy, and usually the safety will prevent trying risky things because all that hard work for the small bag could disappear at one wrong move and they will have to start all over again with the shitty work life balance they really don’t want to do

I like the way he speaks bluntly, he doesn't hide the fact that he has done some mistakes both personally and in business, the struggles of business and the anxiety coming into success, and at times, the small wins that are then overshadowed by things going wrong...the depression and sadness that you have to nurture yourself...we should hear more from him.

Kinda like Apple without Steve Jobs. It ran ok without him and turned out some ok products still, but once Jobs returned to Apple, it started to churn out truly incredible products under his leadership, including iPad, iMac, iPhone, MacAir etc, making Apple the most valuable tech company in the world.

I worked for Paul and he is such a kind guy. He is so smart it is scary. He knows people and how to treat them, we all wanted to work for him.
I think that's what people rarely talk about - billionaires are as smart as hell.
Hey Stephen - I worked for Kinko’s 15 years, half in the stores and then at the headquarters in Ventura. Paul was, and still is, my hero. What an amazing person and amazing leader. His only mistake was trusting the morally bankrupt sharks at CD&R.

LISA MICHELLE PACILLAS really seems to know her stuff. I found her online-page, read through her resume, educational background, qualifications and it was really impressive. She is a fiduciary who will act in my best interest. I value this!

Warren Buffett has mastered what patience looks like. He has stuck to the markets, having a long term view on the markets. I was trained at a south Jersey Kinkos (Mt Laurel) then moved to Prescott, AZ for college. I didn't have a place to stay or job when I pulled into town. I walked into Kinkos and was able to chat with the manager - I mentioned I was trained on all the machines and equipt I could see in their store - she hired me on the spot for 20hrs a week. Was the best college job and am forever grateful. Great management and esprit de corps, especially when we were slammed.

In 1996 I was 17yrs old working for a carpet cleaning company in LasVegas an I met this guy. He was sitting at a table doing paperwork while I was working around him and he gave me some advice about starting my own restoration business and it was spot on !!! I didn’t realize owned the entire company until this video almost 30yrs later

I greatly appreciated this interview. This man was extremely humble and very personable. His honesty in regards to how owning a business TRULY is was refreshing. We are in a time now where everyone wants to own a business to “buy a Bugatti” but he in the other said, “it’s important you take care of your people”. I also loved that he touched upon it being a huge responsibility and burden instead of a piece of cake.

It really made no sense to me when he said ''It doesn't matter whether I'm right or wrong, whether the market goes up and down. I'm good regardless''. People are really losing a sh*t ton of money out here. I personally have been buying stocks since the beginning of the year and yet nothing's changed, but I've been reading articles of people still in the same market pulling off over 350k in just a couple months. Its tough out here!
Sometimes, the strategies to stay on constant green in a downturn markets are quite rigorous for the regular-Joe. Matter of fact, they are most successfully carried out by experts who have had a great deal of skillset/knowledge of the market. Maybe you should hire one.
@@McElvinn Agreed! I first contacted a Financial Analyst because these days, it's easy to buy into trending stocks, but the task is knowing when to sell or keep. That's where my manager comes in, to help me with entry and exit points in the industries I'm engaged in. I’m currently 60% up in profits just in 5months with my initial capital of $160k

He seems like a really nice humble guy. He's worth A LOT more than most celebrities, but so many celebrities wouldn't even take the time to sit down & talk with anyone like this because of their arrogance & egos.
The term celebrity is just a term the general public use, it's quite a lazy term as we assume it means they're a movie star or famous. There are plenty of so called "celebrities" who would sit down and have a conversation about money. Buffet, Gates, Musk, the list goes on have all sat down and discussed money and wealth. It's a very healthy thing to do.
Never make assumptions about people you don't know, calling them arrogant etc, it reflects worse on you.

The actual definition of 'celebrity' is "a famous or well-known person". So, I don't know what other definition that you're using as a person from the 'general public'.

the ending comments were his best. 100% agree with the idea of success being defined by our children wanting to spend time with us in the end. we should also look after ourselves so that they can do that with us in a reasonably good way. i was on a walk with my 8yo boy (i am 50yo) today when he exclaimed his enjoyment and gratefulness for our moment together, and as i recount that now, it sinks in just a bit deeper on how important it is to build those moments with our children. it's what builds the foundation for their future. i fear we're living in times where we have allowed ourselves to become disconnected from this importance. i continue to struggle with being present to this.

What a great interview, this is truly a down to earth common sense man who cared about his employees and about the work that he did despite the ups and downs of running a business this is my kind of boss. I had a boss like that in Michigan where I grew up, he was a nice guy in fact, it was the manager of a TV station that hired me. You did a great job Noah and your engineer that I saw reflecting in the fireplace, lol.
What a sleeper of a video (in a good way). Such a nice break from the constant flex culture, and the end for me of how he defined success really drove all that home.

Protecting your capital is much more important than making money. Basically because if you lose your capital, making money is much harder. ''Missing the train'' vs. ''losing your money''. There are a lot of trains, but if your money is gone, it's over.

Great Interview. At the same time, I think that you did not show Paul that you were interested in getting to know him outside of his money and wealth. He mentioned a number of things that you could have elaborated on to make the interview a more interesting and insightful one.
For example, when he talked about his favourite employee story, you could see his eyes light up, and he was interested in letting you know the details. You just shifted the conversation to another money conversation, not indicating if you were interested in knowing what he told you, because when people are interested in things, they usually ask questions.
Overall, you left a lot of information on the table. You could work on getting to know the person first and then going the business route. I think you'll find that people open more to you, and you can build better connections with these people.

Great interview. Dives deep into what it means to be a business owner, no holds barred. Not just roses and unicorns but difficulty, stress, but it can have it's rewards. "you own your business, don't let you business own you'." Selling the business is really the mountain for a business owner.
Found the part about managers really interesting.. Could put a good manager in a bad store and it would become a good store. Take a bad manager and put him in a good store and it would become a bad store..
