Iron-Man blew me away as a kid when I saw it in theaters. No silly quips or college humor every minute, just enjoying RDJ being a brilliant arms inventor who gets a wake-up call and begins making things he really wants. Tony Stark is very flawed and will make a lot of mistakes but he learns from each one wholeheartedly. He doesn't care because he believes that is what a hero would do, he is genuinely motivated after the cave incident and cares regardless, and that's what makes him a hero. Iron-Man (2008) didn't set the stage for the MCU but it inspired it *and set the standard for the following movies before it was eventually left behind. The current MCU couldn't hold a candle to it now, even with all the CG and money it has at it's disposal. That's how good it is

I love Marvel, but I hate the fact that they give already played roles to different people. Julian McMahon already played Victor von Doom in Fantastic Four (2005), he should have been re-casted for this role. Not the guy who already had a major role in this universe and is inseparable from Iron Man.
