To give more context regarding Magneto's motivation: canonically he was the lone survivor of the holocaust in his family (hence his German before he perished and the camps in his PTSD flashbacks). This is why he's largely been one of the most aggressive advocates - if not down right supremacist - for mutants. His time with the X-Men was actually some of the most muted Magneto we've seen.

Head writer Beau DeMayo said this episode was the centerpiece of his pitch to Marvel. He wanted to evoke modern horrors like 9/11 and specifically the shooting of the Pulse nightclub in Orlando where a minority community have what is supposed to be a separate but safe space which became anything but, because someone decided 'no, you can't even have that!' (as indirectly foreshadowed in ep2 where the Friends Of Humanity even deny the Morlocks the indignity of living in the sewers)
And I dunno about you but watching a small nation with a displaced population being systematically wiped out by a technologically. superior power in front of our eyes hits differently these days.

imo this was one of the rare times a love triangle makes sense. Usually is is just the person in the middle can't decide. But in Rogue's case there is a real choice between the one she loves and the one she can touch. And Scott has a triangle between two women who were essentially the same person until recently, with one being the original and the other being the mother of his child.

If you are a millennial, the end of this episode feels startlingly real. We all lived through 9/11, or Columbine, or The Pulse Night Club shooting, all things the show runner references in his inspiration. The tragedy, the pain, the incredible feeling of shock and loss... it's all there. This episode is the epitome of what good tv writing should be... it makes you feel something... and that's the best type of entertainment.

I've cried for a while after watching "Remember It". The characters are so moving, the story so beautifully tragic. But beyond it all, it's the real life relevance that's so powerful. Ignorance, bigotry and discrimination against mutants is deeply rooted in real life prejudice against LGBTQ+ people, black people, and everyone who's different. Hatred towards minorities is sadly very real.
This episode is art in its purest form. Just a few colors, drawn lines and sounds mixed up together on a flat screen, yet somehow it feels more real than life itself. And it broke me.

11:30 In the comics (when Rogue was still a villain), she permanently stole super strength and flight from Carol Danvers (Captain Marvel in the MCU, but calling herself Ms. Marvel in the comics). This left Carol in a coma, with her mind locked inside of Rogue's head. The 2 personalities kept fighting for control of Rogue's body, driving her crazy. Out of desperation, Rogue went to Xavier for help, even though the X-Men were the enemy. Charles eventually made Rogue an X-Man. The team did not like the decision. Over time, Rogue slowly gained their trust.
The main reason that Rogue didn't have Captain Marvel’s powers in the X-Men films is because FOX (the studio that owned the film rights to the X-Men, Fantastic Four, and all related characters) didn't have the rights to use Avengers characters (still owned by Marvel). In recent years, Disney (the owner of Marvel) purchased FOX. So now Marvel has aquired the film rights to almost all of their characters either by Disney buying the studios that own them, or by making deals with the studios to "borrow" them. If I remember correctly, Universal still owns the Hulk, and Sony owns Spider-Man. This is just for the film rights; Marvel still has the rights to every other form of usage of these characters, like video games and merchandise.

But since the 80's that was dropped and now people know Scoot Summers is Cyclops and all the other official xmen. Some mutants might have secret identifies but not Xavier's xmen

I think I sat there with my mouth open the whole time. And then they hit us with the "I can't feel you" line... and the song choice. The bittersweet irony of Genosha's song being "Happy Nation" ... it's all so good but all so heartbreaking.

Rogue can fly because, before joining the X-Men, when she was a villain, she fought Captain Marvel and permanently stole her powers, putting Carol in a coma. That's why she has superhuman strength and durability, can survive in space, and can fly.
Episodes 4 and 6 are the weakest of the show, but this episode was perfect-10/10; the dialogue, plot, action, voice acting, score-everything about it was perfect. If it weren't for episodes 4 and 6, this show would be a 10/10, but it's still a 9/10 and the second best MCU project behind Daredevil for me.
Something I love about this show is how well and accurately everything is. These storylines are almost copy-and-paste from the comics, only changed a bit for originality and how respectful these creators are to these characters. Fox films did most characters so dirty just to push Wolverine up, and he isn't even a top 5 X-Men member in my opinion, and he is my second favorite Marvel character, but he doesn't join the team till years are created, and the others have so many moments and are more important to the team. Cyclops is my favorite X-Men; he is the first X-Men and the leader of the team, and in the film, he was a joke; this show made him Justice. Storm in here is an omega level, and in the films she wasn't even that powerful; Rogue in here is so accurate, but in the films it's not accurate to her character at all; Gambit, etc.; the only ones that were done well were Wolverine, Magneto, and Professor X.

Rogue cannot survive in space, cause Carol hadn't the powers of Captain Marvel back then, when Rogue absorbed her powers. Back then, Carol went by the Name Ms. Marvel and wasn't that strong, as she is as Captain Marvel.

@@jaynecobb8356 Rogue can definitely survive in space for a while, and I know she didn't steal Captain Marvel powers because it was still Mar-Vell, and it was Ms. Marvel who she stole the powers and memories, but because now she is commonly known as Captain Marvel, I found it best to call her that so those that don’t read the comics gets confused by Kamala, and Rogue is still super strong, like depending the version and the writer she can lift 50 to 100 plus tons.

A problem with rogue/magneto is he did groom her. He is her boss or supervisor. And when he eas his teacher he tried dating her. He is also much much older. Magneto in the setting of 1997 is about 30-40 years older than rogue. So the age gap mixed with him being her teacher and then boss/emoloyer/team leader its got a messed up powwr dynamic
