Fun fact, Toriyama said that Yamcha's the second best cook in the series (right behind the Ox King), meaning Yamcha probably stands a better chance than Goku at keeping Beerus from destroying the planet, just from cooking.
I never felt that Yamcha was a failure. He stands side by side with (now) literal Gods and nobody asked him to. He is always in the most nightmarish situations and yes he complains but he is at least there. He is a cold reminder of the vast powers Dragonball has on display. He may be the first to be beaten but that means he was the first to fight. And I know any and all Dragonball fans would agree that if Goku asked him to fight as his side once again he may say no at first but on that day you would find Yamcha there.
@@lindada4495 the relationship wasn't healthy. It was a on and off relationship and there was no commitment. So, nether of them wanted to be together forever. Poor Yamcha man...
Why does everyone say Yamcha sucks? He used to be a top 5 fighter in Dragon Ball (Kid Goku, Krillin, Roshi, Tien, Yamcha). He only got "weaker" because Goku's Saiyan blood made him exponentially stronger after fights or near death, making Yamcha and the others look weak. Plus, I think Yamcha dying to a Saibaman isn't a big deal, considering Piccolo had a rough time with them too. The Saibaman are estimated to be as strong, if not stronger, than Raditz. Goku and Piccolo barely beat Raditz, with a miraculous hit by little Gohan. So basically, Yamcha went toe-to-toe with a creature stronger than a Saiyan, a race that specializes in nothing but fighting. Either way, Yamcha is an EARTHLING who has ridiculous power and can FLY. I don't think any of us can even crack a rock...
Why do you call yamcha pathetic for the 300g scene? And other human would of instantly died at like x5 gravity. The fact he could even stand was amazing.
+Hyperion Dark Yamcha isn't pathetic for not being able to withstand 300g, he is pathetic for even attempting to do so in the first place. That's not how you train. He thought he could sort of cheat his way to strength instead of gradually working his way up over time. He was too lazy and short sighted to do it the proper way, so it backfired and man was that hilarious. This is why we love Yamcha lol.
***** I see your point, but it had already been established that Yamcha was stronger than most humans. So are Krillin and Tien. You can't be a Z fighter if you don't have above average strength anyway. 300 gravity alone would not kill a Z fighter even one with a low power level such as Yamcha. Yamcha had just enough energy to merely press a button, but he didn't do any actual training so it was not impressive in the slightest. ^^;
Toryama fucked up so many potenital in dbz and earth fighters, also Yamcha in db with turmanets, imagine Yamcha beating Goku, but not Master Roshi but ok DB was great and better than DBZ. Imagine z fighters vs ginyu force in Frieza saga, Tien and Yamcha vs Jeice and Buters. Or Androids saga, where perfect cell Come back to the past and makes alliance with other 4 androids(or make more Androids) vs z fighters. But noo, Vegeta, Goku, Gohan must kill all the enemises and Piccolo have one badass moment. Its easier to make ssj2 and ssj3 than acctualy story. So many potenital, also earth fighters would be respected. Put them in the gravyti chamber and also hyperbolic chamber, but no he hummilated Yamcha even more, so stupid. Imagine gravity chamber, then they Use multiplication technicue, when they finish training on 400x for example, that is like they trainded in 1600x, learn them kai o Ken and etc. No need for ssj2 Just make normal villans, a little bit stronger than past one. Frieza is weak on dbz comperd first 18 and 17 Androids, dont mention cell and Buu. Toryama had luck with the hype, but when you look at dbz its pretty bad, i love it, but its bad. For example Android 18 (Who is weaker than 1 forum cell) beat up Vegeta like nothing, then few episodes later Vegeta is beating up cell in second form. That means Androids are weak as fuck now and earth fighters dont train, they Just become more and more irelevant. I would like to know how to draw to make My fan fiction dbz. Toryama became lazy as shit
_I love how people argue that Yamacha never got strong in the Z series. The filler of when he was on King Kai's planet was to show how much those three have improved. Toriyama stated that by the end of Z, all three original human characters, Yamacha, Tien and Krillin, have surpassed all known enemies in Z to some degree. This to me wasn't surprising to me when Yamacha tried out 300x Gravity and only then he couldn't stand up. This also means that he was also the most likely to have a development to keep up with Goku if it wasn't for Krillin's long time friendship and the fact that he got lazy when Super Saiyan lore was introduced in the series. While Yamacha isn't a power class character, he is still gifted with techniques that could kill an enemy, much like Krillin could have killed Nappa with his Destructo Disc if Vegeta hadn't told him to dodge. Yamacha has gotten stronger, and if you think he hasn't, then you need to go watch the original Z series and follow his development after he dies by the Saibaman and gets trained by King Kai, then later on in the series during Cell, and then some during the Buu Saga. He was still a fighter even in GT which had power levels up the ass._
blackanimelover21 Actually Piccolo can..and has... throughout Z he and Vegeta went back and forth for a while in terms of second strongest. and then there is special beam cannon which can act as some what of an equalizer when used against stronger opponents (remember Raditz was roughly 4x stronger than piccolo & goku and SBC was still a valid threat to him). That being said, by human standards yamcha is no slouch...he could literally kill any of us with his left ass cheek and a wolf fang fart, but you don't have to have the same opinion as me I'm just...saiyan.
I know, how dare blackenfist use "Pathetic" and "Yamcha" in the same sentence. Also when he said "Yamcha can die knowing he beat one of the strongest characters in the universe" So did he just say Yamcha beat himself up? Come on now Balckenfist!
Toryama desteoyed him and other earth fighters, so many potenital and great technics. I aso think that first world tormuntet Yamcha beating Goku in finala is better option than, Master Roshi, but DB was great also Yamcha in DB. i like team vs team. Imagine z fighters vs ginyu force in Frieza saga, Tien and Yamcha vs Jeice and Buters. Or Androids saga, where perfect cell Come back to the past and makes alliance with other 4 androids(or make more Androids) vs z fighters. Actually I can name 2 times he wasn't ready to fight even boarding on cowardice. 1. When Frieza and King Cold came to earth. 2. After almost dying to Gero/ Android 20 he didn't wanna go fight again and even after deciding to go declared he was only gonna watch.
I don't get the logic of saying Yamcha is weak. Think about it, Yamcha beat Recoome on King Kai's planet. Recoome was stronger then Vegeta when he was first introduced. When we first saw Vegeta with Nappa, he was strong enough to blow up a planet. So if Yamcha beats Recoome, Recoome beats original Vegeta, original Vegeta blows up planets. Then Yamcha can blow up the entire planet. He's weak compared to Gods, but anyone who can blow up a planet is most definitely not weak
For a human, Yamcha is a beast. Now if you add powerful aliens such as Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Tienshinhan, Freeza, Androids and others monsters like Buu, of course he get yamched. But who wouldn't be in this case ?
What about Yamcha's fight against Tien? That fight was pretty awesome in my opinion. Also, I thought he had a pretty cool moment in his fight with Kami/Hero where he used the Spirit Ball technique. He basically can say that he fought with God. Other than those two moments, I believe this list is accurate.
I don't understand why Akira Toriyama gave big middle finger to human characters. I really liked Yamcha and Tien and it would have been cool to see them as strong as saiyans.
Lazy Writing.... Too many characters apparently its more important to have 7 year old SSJ's rather then pay attention to the characters that help build you story.
I dont care about his w/l record and I dont care about criticism. Yamcha has a cool fighting style, has cool scars and had an interesting character for me the whole time I watched dragonball and z. He also gets the ladies. He got Bulma and probably Chi Chi if you like rumor mills, and only lost bulma because he was too much of a deviant. Hopefully in Dragonball S we can see him with more development, along with the rest of the Z fighters of course.
Athanase48067 He couldn't have had Chi Chi....that idea was basically destroyed during the twenty third WMA tournament when Chi CHi referring to his fake love confessions. Gohan was also conceived basically just after the WMA tournament (probably just after Goku got married.) and Goten is literally the spitting image of Goku...... Although I will admit that Gohan looks a lot like Yamcha (and like young Goku.).....perhaps Chi Chi wasn't involved in Gohan's conception.....hahaha....I guess Goku could be considered a......freaky alien genotype......being a saiyan.
I honestly doubt Yamcha will get much development. That's not the way the series has been, it'll only focus on the stronger ones who are partaking in all the fighting.
Nice List, But Was it really that hard to find awesome yamcha moments? A couple other Yamcha moments I think are awesome include - Him defeating a whole Dojo of people easily - Refusing to give up against the Mummy Man - His awesome battle with Tien (Despite His Lose, It was his best tournament performance) - Being the second person to learn the Kamehameha (On-Screen) - His Sprit Ball Technique - Him being the only person to realize Master Roshi was Jackie Chun - Taking On The Cell Juniors to protect Goku
Only problem with his fight with Tienshinhan is that Tien is fooling around with him the entire fight and as soon as he gets serious it's a straight up beatdown.
Not entirely True, Tien may not have been fighting at 100% but he did put effort into his fight. Even Tien admitted Yamcha was stronger than he anticipated and that he hadn't seen someone that strong in some time
RocketBomberAndyb He did admit that Yamcha was much better than he had expected, but as soon as he started taking the fight seriously, Yamcha was quite clearly no match.
RocketBomberAndyb Well when it compares to other characters in DBZ, it kinda falls short. His 'moments' honestly don't mean shit. I mean Krillin had better moments than he did.
They should let Yamcha find someone to marry in super... If his friends are going to just ridicule him I feel that the least they can do is let him find love the one thing he was wanted from when he was 16 and had a fear of talking to girls. Also a better role would be nice rather than a background character... Maybe he's been training or something and the whole quite fighting thing was just a ruse so he could train without being made fun of... I realize I'm entering the realm of fan fiction but I'm just sayin it would be nice to see something of the sort.
+lostbladder i think he was training, in BD super (spoiler alert) he wasdoing a bit of a traing exercise with PIccolo, it almost seems Piccolo has been training him all this time, who knows how strong he is
Yamcha was never stronger than Goku. When he beat him, Goku was starved, and couldn't defend himself. On the next episode after that, Goku fights Yamcha a second time, with zero training or anything inbetween, and beats him effortlessly.
And in Dragon Ball, he mentioned how the thing that he wanted the most was to one day get married- that's why he wanted to wish to be comfortable around girls. It sucks that he stayed alone.. but Puar is a shapeshifter... On lonely nights, she could take the form of a human... LMFAO.
Actually considering Chiatzou was continually training with Tien whilst Yamcha was busy playing busy it could be argued Yamcha is weaker as his power dwindled and he basically gave up on training
He didn't beat recoom recoom wasn't trying Yamcha just kicked him off the planet and recoom couldn't come back up Bc he was stuck in hell he could never beat him one on one Bc Vegeta was doing more damage on recoom than Yamcha and recoom wasn't even in pain at all plus Vegeta got his ASS KICKED if your saying Yamcha are beat recoom then your saying hes stronger than Vegeta , krillin, and Gohan before they fought the g force (remember krillin and Gohan got there potential unlock and Vegeta had got 2 zenki boost up to that point) no way Yamcha got that strong in like 2/3 months it was just filler plus piccolo only was able to fight 2nd form frieza Bc he fused with nail
I don't understand the Yamcha hate. He's better than you'll ever be, I don't see you flying around, saving the world. I don't care if he's a fictional character either, he's still better than you, your friends. Heck, probably all the people in the world! >:(
Yamcha really was legitimately kind of a badass back in the day; he could easily fight ordinary opponents, and just about everyone feared Yamcha the Bandit King. And then he decided to tag along with Goku and Bulma, and started encountering the kind of fighters who were after the Dragon Balls, and everything went downhill from there. Hell, back in the DragonBall days, before the Saiyans showed up and all the "power level" nonsense started, even Yajirobe was a legitimate threat (remember his fight against Cymbal), Chichi made it through the tournament preliminaries to fight Goku, and Master Roshi was one of the biggest badasses around.
I think one of my favorite Yamcha moments is when he and Tien grab the Cell Junior and actually manage to knock it away. Of course he later gets his arm broken, but that one moment was really badass. Him and another weak character managing to knock a much stronger foe away.
Yamcha is not a loser to me, but only to those who take in popular opinions rather than logic. Reasons why he isn't: 1. Goku and Piccolo found it tough to beat Raditz. Each saibamen were as strong as as Raditz they say.Unlike Tien and Piccolo, Yamcha had quit fighting for some time and had been playing baseball. So for him to come back and train for a short span was probably more difficult than it was for others. 2. As stated above, if Goku and Piccolo who found it difficult to beat Raditz, can achieve the power levels they did during the Frieza saga, then Yamcha can be strong enough to beat Recoome too, and is definitely stronger than Recoome (he completely dominated Recoome). Tien beating both Jeice and Burter is flattering. 3. Over the course of time, the Saiyans and Piccolo have reached power higher levels. So, they might passed some of their standards to others and it is only logical that they considerably improved. 4. Yamcha cutting off his hair is a sign of dedication and commitment to fighting, unlike his baseball days. I would like to hear what people think, and think accordingly. Thank you.
***** The likely difference is how the type of age reacts to the intensity, and the parents passing down the power. We've seen Goten and Trunks have enormous power and even reached Super Saiyan, that probably is because their fathers achieved immense power before they were conceived. In this case for Goku, if we use power levels for his parents... and compared feats with what Goku could do during the Android Saga then you could see the huge difference of power being passed down by parents. Since for some reason Goku was born weak for a saiyan his training intensity was at normal Earth gravity, his young body likely couldn't handle much pressure so his power up didn't increase as well, and around this time he is still training his ki. So in conclusion; He didn't have anything to maximize his full potential those 3 years. No 10x gravity or 40 tons to carry around that time. Take this as a theory, not a fact answer :P.
Yamcha lasted longer in the gravity room than most beings in the universe would. Gero initially thought Yamcha thought was Goku. Since his calculations were based on Goku if he had stated on Earth. Seriously he is one of the most powerful beings in his universe. He is crippled by fear from his near death and actual death experiences.
One of my favorite moments is when yamcha tries to steal the dragon balls from goku. Puar confuses oolong. Yamcha goes up stairs and thinks he found the dragon balls but were actually bulma's breast!!! And he's like "not dragon balls" hahahahahaha
Yamcha is proof that Toriyama is terrible at character balancing. I know that it was easier to do in Dragonball... But there is almost no effort put into it middle to late Z. At all.
In the end, Akira is no genius when it comes to writing. He's better than plenty of writers because I've seen some seriously baaaad animes, and obviously Dragonball/Z is not one of them. But yeah, character balancing was certainly one of his bigger issues.
What exactly can Yamcha do? I mean, he's a damn human, there should be no logical reason for him to be able to do anything against any of the villains they fight. Yamcha is a weakling who's shining moments are mostly filler and will be remember for running away from Super Buu while Krillin fought him, and getting his girl stolen by Vegeta. That's it.
ganoninthepit Well shit, what can you do? Toriyama couldn't write every single character from DB to stay relevant when he's creating these monster villains. Yamcha barely beat the invisible man, the fuck is he gonna do against Freeza?
blackanimelover21 Well for one, he only had a chance to fight Frieza when he came back as Mecha Frieza. But just because you can't make him as strong as a super saiyan doesn't make him instantly useless. Look at Tien or Krillen, did they let only being human get in their way? No. Tien held back second form Cell and Krillen worked tirelessly to get into 18's pants. What did Yamcha do? Run in against 19 and 20 and be cannon fodder. Instead of making Yamcha's strength come from cunning, they wrote out Yamcha's character more or less and made him almost directly cannon fodder. Hell, even Krillen didn't get instantly destroyed by Frieza or his minions on Namek.
1. Yamucha VS Roshi 2. Yamucha VS Tambourine (Filler) 3. Yamucha VS Wolf These three moments actually made Yamucha look competitive. I think Yamucha is the most realistic character, if not the only in the series. He's just a guy. Despite his shortcoming in fighting, he seems to be one of the more knowledgeable characters other than Roshi in Dragonball. He knew of rare/legendary fighters like the Andre the Giant parody and Kign Chappa. In DBZ, he was nothing but death fodder. I dare you to come up with a list of Chaotzu usefully moments. unliek Yamucha, he had NO USEFUL moments. He just stands there and be cute.
Chaotzu helped Tien beat up on Goku, even though it was a loser move, and Tien hated the help. But he blew himself up, letting everyone know that Nappa could survive Kamikaze's.
I really wished they gave him some importance in DBZ. after awhile it became the super saiyan show. They forgot about alot of the other beloved characters
Brave of you to do this, Blackenfist, but I see through your ruse; you're just setting him up to knock him down. Tsk, tsk, tsk. Hasn't the man been through enough? It's bad enough he'll be forever plagued with Vegeta-envy, don't give him a fail list as well!
I really don't have anything against Yamcha so if it seems like I am trying to knock him down, that is not my intention. I just felt that if I was going to do his best moments than I should do his worst.
+warrior 2000 yeah people tend to forget that Yamcha although is in my opinion the weakest of the Z-fighters besides Chiaotzu(spelled wrong i think), he is still stronger than 99.9% of the population on earth and i would say by end of DBZ he would be considered top Tier as a fighter in the galaxy
+icynok Thats how I see it. No one ever tried to get him strong. If Videl can learn how to fly then yamcha shoulda been able to be at maybe piccolo or krillins power level
I never thought of Yamcha as pathetic, after he died he simply lost his confidence, realizing that while he is strong he is completely outclassed by the new threats facing the earth. Besides, he always seems to be popular with the ladies so we know he's got game!
There's a popular theory making the rounds that Gohan is actually Yamcha's son. I know what you're thinking: "How could that be? Gohan is clearly half saiyan!" The idea is that Yamcha IS a saiyan sent away from Vegeta due to his extreme weakness, same as Tarble. Think about it: How many times have Goku and Yamcha shared similar haircuts? When you were first learning of DBZ and saw Yamcha fighting the Saibamen, you might have thought "Oh, black hair, orange suit... He must be a saiyan like that Goku guy." If it's true, Yamcha's real number one moment is going behind Goku's back and fathering the strongest mortal in the universe. ...It also means that ChiChi's bloodline is probably the source of Gohan's immense latent potential, and that's hilarious.
Said theory is weak and makes no sense at all because if yamcha is a sayan, then how come he never had a tail? How come when he sees goku and his tail he thinks he is a weird kid? Similar haircuts aint shit, just because they share similar hair styles dosnt meant they are blood related. How come when yamcha and vegeta see each other nothing special happens? You know like if they didnt know each other. Maybe because they DONT,and said theory is weaker than yamcha.
Yamcha is probably my fav character in the entire show. The reason for that is, so much character development with him. He's just a character that does the best he can with the cards he is dealt, much like life in real life. Sometimes he Epic wins, Sometimes he Epic Fails and sometimes he just scrapes by "Like a lot of the friends I know, including myself" He's a relatable character and I like that.
Yamcha is a great Character, what's with you knocking on him calling him a coward all through your weak list? Also the Yamcha Olibu fight, how does it not make sense? Pikkon didn't break a sweat against Olibu
dedoria (power level=>20,000) got OWNED by vegeta (power level=24,000). Just cause pikkon didn't break a sweat against olibu doesn't mean he's leagues above him. That made no sense whatsoever.
+Itachi Uchiha That's a whole other issue on power levels that's separate. Example Saiyan Saga Piccolo Max is at 3,500 Nappa is 4,000 Yet Piccolo acts as if he's no match (doesn't help Tien) It's why Toriyama proclaimed them not necessary after SS Goku 15,000,000 and Frieza Max 12,000,000
Yeah, Olibu fought Pikkon while the latter was encumbered enough to barely put him on par with base form Goku, and, still, Pikkon defeated him pretty handily. I don't think Yamcha should've beaten him quite so easily, but I don't think it's so much of a stretch to have him go over.
+QuackenInsanity it's also heavily implied by Krillin that Yamcha had lied to everyone about not Training the whole time(during the Yamcha vs other world fighters) and since he went through them with ease he's correct
Can't believe you didn't mention that scene where he verbally annihilated King Piccolo's henchman Tambourine. Yamcha: So you must be King Piccolo's Yes-Man! Tambourine:Yes...uh, I mean no, I mean...SHUT UP! Yamcha :P
Yamcha is a bandit from the wastes that got in over his head, everyone hates on him for being weak but he is over his head and realized it. He quit fighting and makes the mistake of hanging out and fighting with literal superheros.
Antonio de Jesús Puga Vázquez give yamcha or krillin the powers of majin buu without them having to work for it and they'll become majin strong too...i don't think uub counts as a human
The yamcha vs tien fight even though it ended with tien crippling yamcha was probably one of the best fights in dragonball. They were pretty evenly matched. Tien just had the techniques over him.
Well his Saibamen fight was awesome in my opinion. You know how you get a bad feeling about the unknown? You're certain something bad is gonna happen, you know, that ominous feeling? Yamcha had that when no one knew the Saibamen could self destruct. Yamcha knew Krillin was gonna die so he chose to jump in and fight. That's why Krillin said "Yamcha knew this was going to happen! That was supposed to be me...." Yamcha sacrificed himself so Krillin wouldn't die again.
Yamcha was the only one besides the Crane Hermit to realize who Jackie Chun was. He also put up a great fight between Tien and even impressed him. He also impressed Kami when Kami was Hero. And despite his "failures" (he is still one of the most powerful beings in the universe), Yamcha in Dragon Ball was very knowledgeable; He always knew moves and he always knew who people were. He also seems to be the first DB character to use Ki blasts (that's how he pushes Goku through 3 pillars). He also took only 3 years to master to Kamehameha which was much faster than Master Roshi. Just because Z turned into a saiyan festival, doesn't mean he was a failure. He was always there when the world needed him and I kind of sympathize with him wanting to retire since he had a hand pushed through his chest by Gero; That's freakin tramatic. Most characters just get their bones crushed but this was flat out gore.
That transfer to next moment(s) is pretty fucking awesome. I actually really like Yamcha, and wish his character along with Krillin and Tien were able to get more heroic attention.

Hey, Yamcha is pretty sweet. I think he's the coolest looking character (when he had long hair) and one of the most interesting of the cast. I just wish that people did bag on him so much. He deserves his share of credit.
The reason I like Yamcha the most is because he's the closest character to real life. Think about it, he's an earthling, his main move is not an energy projectile like for say, the kamehameha or the galic gun, it's the wolf fang fist. And saiyans don't exist so the hell with comparing that to real life. But if Yamcha was real than lol ohh, he would Wolf Fang Fist all of in the ass
+kashewz He was crushed right after he used it but it was cool as shit. I would have loved to see Yamcha fake his injuries and go eat a fruit off the tree.
I like how people make fun of Yamcha when, if he were real, he could easily kill any of us easily. In fact, Yamcha is my favorite DB character. Yep. I said it.
Yamcha was kind of the actual villain of the first arc, not pilaf. If you read the manga, pilaf has as much involvement in the story as mobster carrot or ox king. Yamcha is the antagonist multiple times and comes around at the end, but he fights goku multiple times and even has the final climactic battle with him, though goku is the "badguy" during that fight. In terms of other villains, many of goku's villains turn good afterwards. Yamcha, Tien, Piccolo, Vegeta, and Buu all follow this path.
i never understund all the yamcha hate its ridiculous by the series end he is at the very least thousands upon thousands of times stronger than a normal human which is insane! i feel if the human characters of dbz; yamacha tien krillin yajirobe and chiaotzu had their own gravity training machines (starting w/x100 earths gravity) & had learned kaioken from king kai (i guess our favorite fat samurai couldve learned it from the others) they would all be far stronger and given much more credit than they currently get, its toriyama's fault for overshadowing them w/the super saiyans and not giving them the same opportunities which they easily couldve taken advantage of :/
Did you just call Piccolo weak?! Also Yamcha is one of the strongest humans who ever lived, gotta give him credit for that. And you can't blame the humans for being demotivated what Super Saiyans showed up. You train super hard . I'all your life and then some guy gets a 200x boost because of his genetics. I'd be pissed off too
yamcha isnt a failure and never was, hes a really cool character with a ton of potential that went mostly untapped into, and i hope he gets a spotlight and a power reveal in an upcoming dbs story
And yamcha surpassed krillin since he had a higher power level at that time. Krillin went rage mode after his death and got stronger than yamcha again.
DBZBardock24 Krillin actually was stronger at that point. But still, it wouldn't be the same because krillin isn't as cocky as yamcha so he wouldn't put his guard down.
Yamcha once jumped into the fountain of eternal life...........and drowned. Yamcha once ate a Senzu bean, and choked to death. Yamcha once went to train in The Hyperbolic Time Chamber, and died of old age. Yamcha once gathered the Dragonballs and asked Shenron to make him invulnerable, Shenron handed in his 3 weeks' notice. Yamcha, Tien and Chiaotzu were drinking in a bar, when Tien got up to leave, Yamcha died.
Yamcha beating down a Saibaman. He DOES actually successfully trash the first Saibaman. Each Saibaman is as powerful as Raditz. That means he successfully beat a creature that it would've taken Goku AND Piccolo to defeat at the start of DBZ. In that battle he also shows that he's faster than the eye can see, and it's the first battle in the series where we see that happen. Gohan can't even SEE him until Piccolo teaches him how to do it, which means that even in the very beginning of DBZ Yamcha can already move faster than light. Yamcha may be one of the weakest Z Fighters, and he may seem pathetic compared to the enemies that the Z Fighters have to deal with, but relative to any sort of sane level of comparison, Yamcha is like a demigod in power. He's the second strongest human on Earth (after Krillin), and feats like beating Racoome are actually god damn incredible. The Ginyu force trashes the Z Fighters when they first reach Namek, with Racoome himself dominating fully powered-up Vegeta. So yea, Yamcha may be behind the curve in Z Fighter badassery and power increasing, but ANY level of Z Fighter badassery is already unfathomably powerful, and Yamcha DOES keep catching up to where his friends used to be. Goku tends to be the most powerful and increases in power INSANELY fast. Criticizing Yamcha for being "only" as powerful as Goku was a couple years ago, is like criticizing Superman for not being as fast as the Flash because Superman can "only" move faster than light.
TEC Uhhh.....Goku at 14 was the first to display that he could move faster than the eye could see (and Tien and Yamcha were already about that level in the same tournament anyway.)......all of the Z fighters by the start of Z are moving way faster than the eye can see.....
TEC Uhhh.....Goku at 14 was the first to display that he could move faster than the eye could see (and Tien and Yamcha were already about that level in the same tournament anyway.)......all of the Z fighters by the start of Z are moving way faster than the eye can see.....
For me, his performance against Hero (Kami) at the World Martial Arts Tournament was #1. I'm stunned that it isn't even on the list. Sure he loses, and there's the comedic moments at the beginning. But he survives Kami's attempts to beat him and make it look like an accident, where other fighters like Yajirobe did not. So just the fact of Kami, the guardian of Earth, being forced to take the fight seriously, that puts Yamcha in another class. And if that weren't enough, even with Kami fighting seriously, Yamcha lands a legitimate blow on him with his spirit ball, earning Kami's respect.
The problem with Yamcha and the humans is while sayans get "Woo!! 50 times stronger!! Woo! 2 times that!!" etc the humans just... Train to add instead of multiply.
Yamcha had an awesome moment during the Cell Jr. fight. He and Tien jump in front of Goku to help protect him and it's super cool. Too bad they all get their asses kicked right after.
it's astounding, despite how kind goku is, dbz fans have proven to be some of the most mean spirited people in all of nerd society. it's a shame the fans never learned anything from the show.
Fun fact, Toriyama said that Yamcha's the second best cook in the series (right behind the Ox King), meaning Yamcha probably stands a better chance than Goku at keeping Beerus from destroying the planet, just from cooking.
Yes I am the best cooker.
+Mr. Yamcha fucking woman
Mr. Yamcha lol
Mikazuchi If Yamcha is the sceond best cook, that means Android 21 would force Yamcha to make her sweets forever 😂😂
@@mr.yamcha8384 xD
I never felt that Yamcha was a failure. He stands side by side with (now) literal Gods and nobody asked him to. He is always in the most nightmarish situations and yes he complains but he is at least there. He is a cold reminder of the vast powers Dragonball has on display. He may be the first to be beaten but that means he was the first to fight. And I know any and all Dragonball fans would agree that if Goku asked him to fight as his side once again he may say no at first but on that day you would find Yamcha there.
Real shit
Yamcha is the most relatable character in the entire series. And if it weren't for him saving Bulma we wouldn't have Trunks.
He always gets unlucky and SEVERELY pooped.on. Leg broken. Blown up by saibamen. Dr gero puts his hand through him. Buu eats him
Yamcha was smart, he used his powers to play pro ball and became rich.
He hate being it, he lose Bulma because she think Yamcha cheated her with his fan girl. Yamcha did mention that he martial artist not baseballer
@Zesanactor Over-5 yeah i know it
@@lindada4495 the relationship wasn't healthy. It was a on and off relationship and there was no commitment. So, nether of them wanted to be together forever. Poor Yamcha man...
@@nesswithpolygonz83 If a on/off relationship worked for Yamcha, he should have been with Launch (I don't know if people remember her)
Why does everyone say Yamcha sucks?
And Yamcha is the only earthling that managed to go toe to toe with Goku and win a fight.
*****
I see your point, but it had already been established that Yamcha was stronger than most humans. So are Krillin and Tien. You can't be a Z fighter if you don't have above average strength anyway. 300 gravity alone would not kill a Z fighter even one with a low power level such as Yamcha. Yamcha had just enough energy to merely press a button, but he didn't do any actual training so it was not impressive in the slightest. ^^;
*****
I too would have loved to have seen that. I hope one day they redeem him somehow. ^^
Goku had problem with 20x and vegeta almost Got killed by 400c
Toryama fucked up so many potenital in dbz and earth fighters, also Yamcha in db with turmanets, imagine Yamcha beating Goku, but not Master Roshi but ok DB was great and better than DBZ. Or Androids saga, where perfect cell Come back to the past and makes alliance with other 4 androids(or make more Androids) vs z fighters. Agreed
Yamcha is the coolest character in DBZ

Spilgoro no... Tien is a triclops 😂😂
Actually, Tien is half alien so he doesn't count.
Dude... I am SICK and TIRED of people making fun of Yamcha.
Yamcha could never keep up with a Saiyan, if Piccolo can't, then certainly Yamcha couldn't even dream of it.

blackanimelover21 Actually Piccolo can..and has... throughout Z he and Vegeta went back and forth for a while in terms of second strongest. and then there is special beam cannon which can act as some what of an equalizer when used against stronger opponents (remember Raditz was roughly 4x stronger than piccolo & goku and SBC was still a valid threat to him). That being said, by human standards yamcha is no slouch...he could literally kill any of us with his left ass cheek and a wolf fang fart, but you don't have to have the same opinion as me I'm just...saiyan.
All hail our OG Lord and Savior Yamcha

2. After almost dying to Gero/ Android 20 he didn't wanna go fight again and even after deciding to go declared he was only gonna watch.

Yes....now that's a Number one.
Lol agreed. It's awesome
praise yamcha god of all
that was in the game u can defeat ssj4 gogeta with a weakling
Tien's not an alien.
***** Well in the Daizenshuu 4 and 7, it is said that Tien is descended from the alien "3-Eyed Tribe" (the triclops).
Tien got his third eye through meditation
Krillen > yamcha
The Joker Well, then there is different versions because many times, he is presented as an alien.
***** exactly
But they did ultimately become stronger than most of the Saiyans that have ever existed.
Lazy Writing....
Too many characters apparently its more important to have 7 year old SSJ's rather then pay attention to the characters that help build you story.
They could have used these characters more interestingly thought If you look at Yamcha Pre Saiyan Saga vs Post Saiyan Saga... Its a complete 180...
Well of course fans arent gonna care much about the human characters at this point toriyama didnt do much with them...
Most people would suck being, next to Saiyans. Could you imagine him in Marvel or D.C. he'd be the talk of town.
Oh yeah. If he were in D.C. Superman would respect him.
Yeah I think they should REALLY make Yamcha a better character
I honestly doubt Yamcha will get much development. That's not the way the series has been, it'll only focus on the stronger ones who are partaking in all the fighting.
Athanase48067 Development for Yamcha in Dragonball Super? LMAO.
Athanase48067 Meh. Probably got those scars from Puar...
To all Yamcha haters: at least he can do a kamehameha
TURN DOWN FOR WHAT!!
so can Goku Krillin Roshi Gohan Goten Tenshinhan and Cell
+fidel garcia he can do Spirit Ball and Wolf Fang Fist
+Pluto The Demon Hound Wasn't Yamcha the one who did the spirit ball first in dragon ball?
yes the only one known to use it and that makes him the first one unless someone else is discovered to be the first one to use it
Didn't Yamcha learn the Kamehameha before Krillin?
Nice List, But Was it really that hard to find awesome yamcha moments? A couple other Yamcha moments I think are awesome include
- Him defeating a whole Dojo of people easily
- Refusing to give up against the Mummy Man
- His awesome battle with Tien (Despite His Lose, It was his best tournament performance)
- Being the second person to learn the Kamehameha (On-Screen)
- His Sprit Ball Technique
- Him being the only person to realize Master Roshi was Jackie Chun
- Taking On The Cell Juniors to protect Goku
Only problem with his fight with Tienshinhan is that Tien is fooling around with him the entire fight and as soon as he gets serious it's a straight up beatdown.
Not entirely True, Tien may not have been fighting at 100% but he did put effort into his fight. Even Tien admitted Yamcha was stronger than he anticipated and that he hadn't seen someone that strong in some time
RocketBomberAndyb He did admit that Yamcha was much better than he had expected, but as soon as he started taking the fight seriously, Yamcha was quite clearly no match.
That Is True, Still It Was a Good Fight

FUTURE QUEEN OF ENGLAND CONFIRMED
It's strange to think Yamcha was once the strongest character in Dragon Ball Z history
DragonBall history. The franchise is called DragonBall Z was only the anime.
Not anymore! LOL
Yamcha was never stronger than Goku. When he beat him, Goku was starved, and couldn't defend himself. On the next episode after that, Goku fights Yamcha a second time, with zero training or anything inbetween, and beats him effortlessly.
I seriously feel bad for Yamcha. He's in his mid forty's now: single, weak, and living with a cat
not weak. just not as powerful as goku or such in such. but any average fight would crap there pants if they fought Yamcha.
Jeremy Lyttle Yes, to make it clear: weak compared to the majority of the Z fighters, and too weak to play a significant role in the series.
And in Dragon Ball, he mentioned how the thing that he wanted the most was to one day get married- that's why he wanted to wish to be comfortable around girls.
It sucks that he stayed alone.. but Puar is a shapeshifter... On lonely nights, she could take the form of a human...
LMFAO.
+jmc7788 Puar is a boy lol

Tbh chiotzu is lamer than yamcha.
People not insult him because he is supposed to be weak but Yamcha from a cool to worst
LOL Yamcha's not the weakest. Chiaotzu is.
Thank you
***** Where the heck did you get that from? No he's not...
Actually considering Chiatzou was continually training with Tien whilst Yamcha was busy playing busy it could be argued Yamcha is weaker as his power dwindled and he basically gave up on training
well the movies aren't really canon so, yeah, gohan could have beat bojack without ssj.
I hate the movie and claim it non canon, and I CAN defend yamcha
Why is so hard to believe yamcha could beat recoome?
because he couldnt, that was filler
I know that much. But i say this because we don't know how strong he was after he got off king Kai s.
I think Yamcha could beat up Recoome since Piccolo was able to stand up to Frieza after fusing with Nail.
Nba Mario Recoom was trying more then he did with Vegeta. At that point Yamcha was stronger then Vegeta Get over it :P
This is a brilliantly constructed list. I knew from the start what number had to be though. Good to see the Dragon Ball respect
SuperJaceofSpades Thank you. I hope you stay tuned for his worst moments.
Baron Death gg
I'd say the fact that Yamcha tapped Bulma is his biggest win
Yamcha wasn't a loser. In fact he's pretty cool.!
Yamcha has beaten SSJ3 Broly and that is obviously cannon!
LOL
TFS TFS TFS !!
Reasons why he isn't:
Thank you.
General VJ 100% agree with you.
***** That is a good question. I would like to see what answer people would come up with.
*****
The likely difference is how the type of age reacts to the intensity, and the parents passing down the power.
Take this as a theory, not a fact answer :P.
km gamers Time Chamber?
If there's anyone who hates Yamcha more than any other Yamcha hater out there, it definitely has to be UnrealEntGaming.
Yamcha is one of my favorite dragon ball characters.
I agree, my favorite as well.
Do you mean just db or dbz cos he was my fave In db but my least fave in dbz
Seeing Yamcha fans always warms my heart. I make AMVs of Yamcha, If you guys want to check my channel out.
One of my favorite moments is when yamcha tries to steal the dragon balls from goku. Puar confuses oolong. Yamcha goes up stairs and thinks he found the dragon balls but were actually bulma's breast!!! And he's like "not dragon balls" hahahahahaha
I love that moment as well. If this was Funniest moments than that would definitely be their.
503478hypershadow105 lol that is my favourite moment apart from yamcha peeping on bulma in episode 5 in dragon ball (not DBZ)
I agree .. that scene was absolutely halarious
It's a win for yamcha
It's a win for yamcha
Its not that Yamcha is weak, its that humans in DBZ are particularly portrayed as weak in comparison to all the threats that arose
+Sjono Yamcha is increadably strong but he just gets cocky and lets his guard down. I think thats how he always gets beat.
krillin is kinda the same way. but heis actually usefule in battle sometimes XD.
with his sensu beans
Well he held his own against imperfect cell and killed 4 saibamen with one blast.
oh and that too
Yamcha is proof that Toriyama is terrible at character balancing.
That's it.
blackanimelover21 And that's the problem. That the series was written like that to begin with.
ganoninthepit Well shit, what can you do?
1. Yamucha VS Roshi
2. Yamucha VS Tambourine (Filler)
3. Yamucha VS Wolf
These three moments actually made Yamucha look competitive.
True.
Chaotzu helped Tien beat up on Goku, even though it was a loser move, and Tien hated the help. But he blew himself up, letting everyone know that Nappa could survive Kamikaze's.
White Assimilation was that really his intention? I thought he meant to take Nappa out with him, which means he failed.
But Yamcha failed too, but someone had to try.
I really wished they gave him some importance in DBZ. after awhile it became the super saiyan show. They forgot about alot of the other beloved characters
Haters of yamcha, if you think about it, he can ABSOLUTELY destroy you. Ok bye.
+TheBigboyOfDestiny I doubt a drawing could beat me up :)
+Dogan this dumb fool right here. wow
AMARIS SHADDING LOL
And goku can destroy your entire universe. Ok bye.
But he got short hair
Brave of you to do this, Blackenfist, but I see through your ruse; you're just setting him up to knock him down. Tsk, tsk, tsk. Hasn't the man been through enough? It's bad enough he'll be forever plagued with Vegeta-envy, don't give him a fail list as well!
I really don't have anything against Yamcha so if it seems like I am trying to knock him down, that is not my intention. I just felt that if I was going to do his best moments than I should do his worst.
Majin Sole hes not envious of vegeta yamcha can easily get laid
+warrior 2000 yeah people tend to forget that Yamcha although is in my opinion the weakest of the Z-fighters besides Chiaotzu(spelled wrong i think), he is still stronger than 99.9% of the population on earth and i would say by end of DBZ he would be considered top Tier as a fighter in the galaxy
+icynok Thats how I see it. No one ever tried to get him strong. If Videl can learn how to fly then yamcha shoulda been able to be at maybe piccolo or krillins power level
+blackenfist During the cell fight, why didnt tien, yamcha and krillin use the kamehameha?
I never thought of Yamcha as pathetic, after he died he simply lost his confidence, realizing that while he is strong he is completely outclassed by the new threats facing the earth. Besides, he always seems to be popular with the ladies so we know he's got game!
There's a popular theory making the rounds that Gohan is actually Yamcha's son. I know what you're thinking: "How could that be? Gohan is clearly half saiyan!"
The idea is that Yamcha IS a saiyan sent away from Vegeta due to his extreme weakness, same as Tarble.
***** Hey,you are welcome buddy.
Hobo Siege that is EXACTLY what i thought when i first saw it XD gohan and yamcha both had similar haircuts indeed.
Hobo Siege Sayain hair never changes, so Yamcha would have to be a half-saiyan already and not sent away.
Ok so that means Yamcha will become a Super Saiyan God someday? well then lets see
Yamcha saved Goku's life once, too. When he had to take Goku home to take the Viral Heart Disease medication,
I don't care what people say Yamcha will always be my favorite :)
Yamcha is my favorite character. Nothing will change my mind.
When Yamcha used the spirit ball for the first time
Yamcha is a great Character, what's with you knocking on him calling him a coward all through your weak list?
Also the Yamcha Olibu fight, how does it not make sense? Pikkon didn't break a sweat against Olibu
dedoria (power level=>20,000) got OWNED by vegeta (power level=24,000). Just cause pikkon didn't break a sweat against olibu doesn't mean he's leagues above him. That made no sense whatsoever.
+Itachi Uchiha That's a whole other issue on power levels that's separate. Example Saiyan Saga Piccolo Max is at 3,500 Nappa is 4,000
Yet Piccolo acts as if he's no match (doesn't help Tien)
It's why Toriyama proclaimed them not necessary after SS Goku 15,000,000 and Frieza Max 12,000,000
Yamcha :P
I'm so happy to see an awesome Yamcha countdown!
Shame on the creator, who let some characters like Yamcha get forgotten in the worst way possible, like being humiliated by weak oponents
No one, NO ONE would dare to proclaim that a guy that can destroy a planet with an energy beam is "weak".
What does that make us?
my favourite character of dragon ball
First off, I love Yamcha's fighting stance. Best in the series.
yamcha is love .yamcha is life
Wow. I never even considered that.
Yamcha is one of the few that can say "I kicked Goku's ass" and not be lying.
Yamcha is a bandit from the wastes that got in over his head, everyone hates on him for being weak but he is over his head and realized it. He quit fighting and makes the mistake of hanging out and fighting with literal superheros.
Ctfu trying to find the best world's to talk shit on Yamcha he's a cool character man
Does anybody else think that the humans need a power boost in super?
I swear, if the humans are still super weak I'm not even gonna watch it.
Zachary Hanson What about Oob?
Antonio de Jesús Puga Vázquez who? I meant the z fighter humans. Yamcha, tien, choutzu, and krillin.
Antonio de Jesús Puga Vázquez uub is in gt , gt is cannon
Antonio de Jesús Puga Vázquez give yamcha or krillin the powers of majin buu without them having to work for it and they'll become majin strong too...i don't think uub counts as a human
***** the last episode in DBZ is filler.. Now it has been rewritten. It never happened.
6:02 i thought you said "beating up a weeaboo"
+Tricia Dewar SAme, honestly. I'll never heard his real name now that I know him as Weeaboo.
lol same
The yamcha vs tien fight even though it ended with tien crippling yamcha was probably one of the best fights in dragonball.
That was supposed to be me...."
Yamcha sacrificed himself so Krillin wouldn't die again.
Yamcha is one of the weaker z fighters but comparing Bruce lee to Yamcha is like comparing Yamcha to goku
***** yea sure but at least he didn't get killed the most *cough* *cough Krillin
***** Thank you R4FA Just thank you
Yeah, it's not like super 17 or Frieza can compare to the almighty Saibaman. (Sarcasm intended)
ok after watching db i think i might have underestimated yamcha
***** Yamcha Vs Chuck Norris?
I would like to see a top ten Tien Moments. Tien is a great character
Yamcha had great potential and proved to be a strong fighter, but he just happened to get all the rotten luck. :(
Fave Yamcha moment: him using his little spirit bomb or whatever during Tree of Might movie.
+kashewz spirit ball
+kashewz He was crushed right after he used it but it was cool as shit. I would have loved to see Yamcha fake his injuries and go eat a fruit off the tree.
Great review. I was also thinking about how yamcha got stronger that he beat the strongest human.
he's not a coward he just knows he has one life left and to hell with wasting it
I like how people make fun of Yamcha when, if he were real, he could easily kill any of us easily.
Yamcha, Tien, Piccolo, Vegeta, and Buu all follow this path.
i never understund all the yamcha hate its ridiculous by the series end he is at the very least thousands upon thousands of times stronger than a normal human which is insane! i feel if the human characters of dbz; yamacha tien krillin yajirobe and chiaotzu had their own gravity training machines (starting w/x100 earths gravity) & had learned kaioken from king kai (i guess our favorite fat samurai couldve learned it from the others) they would all be far stronger and given much more credit than they currently get, its toriyama's fault for overshadowing them w/the super saiyans and not giving them the same opportunities which they easily couldve taken advantage of :/
Fun fact, Yamcha can kill any of us. With one arm tied behind his back. While blindfolded.
Yamcha will always be one of my favorite characters ☺ I think the Best scene is where Yamcha and Tien kick the Cell JR to save Goku 😆
I'd be pissed off too
Yamcha:" yeah I might be pathetic now, but I once made Goku my bitch."
That transition got incredibly obnoxious very fast.
forgot the spirit ball, even today that's still one of the most impressive attacks, can continue to use it after it has impacted on something.
yamcha isnt a failure and never was, hes a really cool character with a ton of potential that went mostly untapped into, and i hope he gets a spotlight and a power reveal in an upcoming dbs story
All of the Z Fighters can say they beat up Goku at least once.. Good video though..👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
all except chiaotzu.
+Connor Staggs goodbye tien!
@Alladeen Madafaker The early part of Z, when he was still a villain, and when he went Majin during the Buu Saga.
Yamcha is a fckn hero. He went instead of krillin. The result would be the same and krillin would die.
Are you applying for "Yamcha facts"?
OMG this was hilarious thank you 😂
He actually hit beerus....Damn yamcha
Now you can add to the list : Yamcha winning the not so friendly baseball match between Universe 6 and 7 and gaining praise from Beerus
I don't get why people hate on Yamcha
Omg, serious, do you have to make that wolfmove-thing for every single awesome moment?
I don't think he had to, too bad he did.
TEC You know, Raditz could have powered up a little higher than 1200, but he relied too much on his scouter to power up like Nappa and Vegeta did.

Wolf Fang Fist is still one of the coolest moves in the series.
We need the Yamcha fail counter
I wish all the Z warriors especially the humans would get stronger.
The problem with Yamcha and the humans is while sayans get "Woo!! 50 times stronger!! Woo! 2 times that!!" etc the humans just... Train to add instead of multiply.
My writing is that rubish? Really? Damn...
he's saying Akira Toriyama's handling of the human characters was bad.
Eclipse Ah, oh stupid me, I understand it now.
Damn it!
@@goncalocarneiro3043 should of quoted a Yamcha line straight out of DBS
Yamcha had an awesome moment during the Cell Jr. fight. He and Tien jump in front of Goku to help protect him and it's super cool. Too bad they all get their asses kicked right after.
it's astounding, despite how kind goku is, dbz fans have proven to be some of the most mean spirited people in all of nerd society. it's a shame the fans never learned anything from the show.
