      Thanks for the appreciation. Fluke made the i400e to match standard input jacks so it works on other brands' DMMs as well. Plus, they're not too expensive for such a versatile accessory clamp. I got mine from a local online seller for around U$45.

      @ramschannelreviews  4 года назад +1

      I appreciate your comments. Lowest I measured was 2Amps (04:26). But based on specs, it should be able to measure 1.0 Amp minimum, although I haven't tested a load with 1Amp excatly. I did test it at a load between 100mA and 300mA: the i400E did not detect them, the reading at the F115 remained 0. So, as long as current (mV output of the clamp) is 1.0 or above, it should do well between 1A and 400A.

    • @ramschannelreviews
      @ramschannelreviews  3 года назад +1

      @@exiledazazel1844 update. Apparently the i400E can measure down to at least 100mA. This depends on the resolution of the multimeter it is connected to. Specifically the digital multimeter must have a a high resolution of at least 10 microvolt AC. It just so happened that the Fluke115, F117 and even F116 do not have this resolution but the UNI-T 139C has. I've tested and covered this in the other video linked here: ruclips.net/video/l9PLClT7TJY/видео.html

      Thanks for your comments. There is at least one from Fluke. Based on their online info, it's the battery-powered Fluke i410 AC/DC accessory clamp. Same type of banana plug connector, also rated to 400A max, 1mV/Amp. I haven't used one though. Off-brand clamps of this type can also be found sold online, like the Holdpeak 600A AC/DC accessory clamp, but I don't know how well they perform.

    good video. Could you tell me if this clamp is compatible with the 116FC ?, and what would be the maximum AC measurement current. (I see in the video that you position the selector in mV)
    I really need to know if this accessory replaces a 325 RMS meter.
    Thank you so much

    • @ramschannelreviews
      @ramschannelreviews  3 года назад

      I appreciate your comments. Do you mean Fluke 116 DMM? The Fluke 325 can measure both AC and DC current, while the i400e can measure AC current only. The i400E has a maximum current of 400A AC same as F325. When paired with a compatible multimeter, like the Fluke 116, the i400E makes a good backup or complement to your existing clamp meter. You need to position the DMM to mV AC when using the i400E and just read the value as Amperes. Please refer to user's manual for details on this. I also noted this in the video. And yes, the i400e is perfectly compatible with a Fluke 116. Here's a photo for reference. The other instrument is a Fluke 324. They both registered essentially the same current readings: 6.74A and 6.8A (read 6.8 mV as 6.8Amp). Hope this helps. Good luck!

    I have an Amprobe ACD 14 pro . I also have a Triplett CM24 current meter with inrush. and also a fluke 116.
    when checking inrush on my vacuum cleaner the Amprobe read 44 +- amps on startup.
    the Triplett measured 32 amps + - so I was curious to see which is accurate. after watching this video I decided to get an i400e to use with my 116. using the max feature with the 116 it was within 1-2 amps of the Triplett. so I was surprised to find the 12 amp discrepancy with the Amprobe

    • @ramschannelreviews
      @ramschannelreviews  2 года назад +1

      I appreciate your comments. It's interesting that your CM24 and F116 with i400e recorded inrush with just ~2Amp difference. I don't have a CM24 but in my video of the ACD 14 Pro I compared it's inrush function with the inrush function of my Hioki CM4376 and they also registered ~2Amp difference only. The i400e with F116/F115/F117 MAX function is a good way to quickly detect presence of inrush. In order to establish more accurate baselines across different devices I think more tests are necessary. For inrush detection however, the MAX function of the F116 and with i400e is good enough for relatively small motor load. Just my personal opinion.

    No need to convert the MV to amps?

    • @ramschannelreviews

    • @ramschannelreviews
      @ramschannelreviews  3 года назад +1

      @@scottm3552 A common misconception hehe. Please see 03:40 the F115 DMM doesn't know that an i400e is connected. It will just display the output of the i400e in mV. But as mentioned, 1A detected by the i400e will result in 1mV. Hence 6 mV is read as 6 Amp, for example.

    Will this clamp work with fluke 87v without blowing the fuse inside the multimeter?
    I’m kind of hesitant to use it because of the specs of the multimeter since it says it only does up to 10 amps and for 30 seconds it will do 20 amps

    • @ramschannelreviews
      @ramschannelreviews  3 года назад +1

      Hi Jerry, the i400E outputs milli-volts-AC up to 400mV-AC to the multimeter. Hence, it's max rating was 400Amps, AC. The multimeter should be set to mV-AC setting, not Amperes (current) when used with the i400E. However, I'm not sure if the 87V has a millivolt-AC function. This is important- the multimeter must have mV AC function or at least able to measure down to 1millivolt. The i400E won't work with mV-DC.

    Which multimeter do think is the best for residential use?

    • @ramschannelreviews
      @ramschannelreviews  3 года назад

      Not knowing your budget or background let me assume you're a homeowner who wanted a reliable digital multimeter (DMM) to handle simple household tasks that requires it. An economical Fluke 15B+ or 17B+ should cover the essentials. But if budget allows, a Fluke 115, 116, or 117 would be a step up. If you're confident enough to safely measure live circuit currents, a clamp meter like the Kyoritsu 2127R or Fluke 324 is very versatile and should serve you well. Stay with the known brands (Fluke, Hioki, Kyoritsu, Sanwa), get one with a backlight. For household troubleshooting a digital multimeter is much more practical and easier to use than analog. So stay with DMMs. Lastly, for more laborious or very risky electrical work, I'd just call an electrician, just to be safe. Good luck!
