This is a very great video! I just have one question.... what about games like Omikron: The Nomad Soul? (where, the image is larger than a "standard CD-R size of 700mb", ie. "99min")
I Remember it again. Its been years since i done this. Burned about 40 games. I need a new pile now. I just started up my old asus pc from 2012 amazing the battery still works. Great video tho. I used imgburn aswell. Its so easy to do. Its a little different when burning games for ps1? But almost the same. I think ps1 was way easy and faster. I also remeber write speed to set a 1x the slowest possible. I had trouble with some game burned at 2x speed. Maybe my old laptop is used up. But keep that in mind! Low speed. Whatever if it takes and hour. You get free games! 😳😎🤘 Keep them burned disc running.
So i followed your tutorial on my Dreamcast that was manufactured in 1999 version 1. I tried using a utopia disc and yours as well and neither work. i was wondering if you had any other solutions
heh funny enough my portable burner only supports 10x 16x and 24x. I have an old SATA powered DVD-RW drive somewhere, it might go lower. wonder if i can get an enclosure for that or a SATA to USB connector
great video, but you mixed up the windows installation types. program files (x86) is 32 bit, program files is 64 bit. hopefully that hasn’t prevented too many users from getting this to work.
So I did everything as followed and I get stuck at Synchronizing cache and it does that for ever. I have to unplug the dvdrw drive to get it to stop. Any clue on why this happened?
followed all steps completely, games burned without any errors, and still wont work. i have a dreamcast from 1999 so all websites say it should work. can anyone help?

Does this method needs to use the boot cd into dreamcast before using the game cd or just use the game cd u just burned directly to dreamcast and it will work fine ?
If the copied game is the same region as the console, then it should just work. If you're trying to play a game with a different region to the console, then you'll need to use a boot CD like codebreaker before using the game CD.
I was looking up how well reproduction discs work and if they'd work on an unmodded Dreamcast. Somebody linked this video and I was like "oh sweet!" until I realized that I don't have a CD slot since I decided to get a smaller laptop. Whoops.
It's a little beyond the scope of the vid, but certainly possible. Dreamcast games used the GD-ROM format, which is a bit more capacity than a CD-ROM formatted disc.
Hi...nice work...thank you for the video....can you please recommend any website where we can download the games with self boot? Thank you so much, you are amazing!
i was wrong its a different video that uses a different burning software called discjuggler that has an option called RAW write which self boots game files i dont know if imgburn has this same feature or not
i followed this tutorial exactly but keep getting this message when the disk attempts tot verify "miscompare at lba " does anyone know the cause of this or how to fix it ?
Dang it! Oh wait. It's the 1st session so after it finished and ran out of room. It ejected the tray then I closed it and finished with an Operation sucessfully completed!
Why u guys in these tutorials keep saying u need a 0 or 1 underneath the console?? I have one that has a 2 underneath and it plays copy games fine did u guys ever tested a console with 2 underneath or you just assuming it can't work??
As long as you rip or download the file right, it should be decent quality. Bad quality would just be from a failed or interrupted download or an unsuccessful rip.
I found a website with lots of .cdi files but almost everyone of them is larger than 700mb so they dont fit in the CDR. am I missing something ? Or IMGburn compacts the files or something ?
Blaine! Thank you so much for this incredible tutorial. I was up and playing Shenmue on my launch Dreamcast instantly! Thank you!!
I would have loved to have this when I had my Dreamcast!
All the arcade fighters are amazing on the dreamcast!
I remember, back in 2001, having to do some steps to make the larger image file fit onto a CDR.
You didn't mention/cover that at all.
How is that posible with DC CDI large files?
I remember doing that to with some software but can't find that info anywhere
@@mparsons85 I think it's called overburn. That setting is within a different cd-burn program.

Use a double layer CD-R!!! It'll work fine
@@DeathmatchFan69420 those exist?
Then... why did they use 2 discs instead of Dual Layer CDs on PSX games?
@@LennyQUMFIF dual layer was far too expensive to manufacture back then, it was cheaper to just use multi disc games
@@DeathmatchFan69420 "Double Layer CD-R"? I thought only DVDs were Dual Layer. The Dreamcast can only read CDs, not DVDs.
Did you find a solution?
I found this informative and easy to understand, thank-you for making this!
Thanks so much the other tutorials where pretty complicated until i found this video!!! Thanks a million
another great and easy to follow along tutorial, Thanks again Blaine!
Thank you very much! My Dreamcast is not collecting dust anymore from now ❤️

at the end of burning the disc it says error: would you like to continue verifying disc?
Where do you get cdis from ?
How do you rip a dreamcast disc?
I just did a backup on a old pc with a drive & it worked woooow! Thanks for the tutorial sir. 🎉
Appreciate the concise and detailed walkthrough, thanks!
I tried various methods and this one worked perfectly! Thanks!

Thanks so much, it's been a long time since I've done this, and this is perfectly described.
Thanks a lot. My cd burner only works at lowest speed setting of 10x and my games play just fine
Just a question. If I download the Japanese CDI versions of Dreamcast games will they work or not?
Super late reply, but yes they will work
Million Thanks Million Likes 🎉
Do Cd-r discs work?
Great video! thank you for explaining it so well.
Just a thank you- doing now- thx for keeping it simple and not over complicating it.
awesome, it worked great, thanks for the video 👏👏
Thank you for the video! It was very detailed and easy to follow.
Blaine, thank you as always and for any future great videos lol😊.

Program Files is only 64 bit if the machine is. Then it’s 32 and there is no x86 folder.
@@elephystry Yes but in the context of this video, he needed to explain that.
I'm having issues with the cd r not running on my dreamcast and I did everything right
Maybe, like he said in the video, you either have a bad image or your the version of your dreamcast is incompatible
@@mpmedia6735 i used utopia boot disc and I burned WWF Royal Rumble and that worked
thanks man you helped me big time
So….does all Dreamcast game works even if it’s like a 2 disc set or a 4 disc set?….perhaps?
I was wondering the same
Is there any way to do larger games? I cant get San Fransisco Rush 2049 working.

THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!! This really helped!!!

@@egwok1 did you buy it yet
With this method do you need to use a boot disc like utopia to make the burned image work?
Excellent explanation!
Thanks for the tutorial ☺️
I still have an error “fail to send cue sheet”
Did you encounter that problem and do you know how to solve it ?
you need to padus cdi plugin files found at the bottom of the imgburn download site placed into (by default) C:\Program Files(x86)\ImgBurn
Great video now I can finally backup up my Dreamcast games many thanks 👍
Will this work for external cd drives if my pc doesn't gave a cd drive
I have a dreamcast collecting dust over here. The used games are too expensive. What can I do with it? Any emulators I could use?
Thank you for step by step im trying do my first game now
Great video cant wait to try it can anyone tell me a site for dc cdi files to download that not full of viruses.
Would burning at 10x cause long term damage to my disk drive?
Slowest speed makes the most reliable disk.
Thank you so much :) great video
Worked for me, thank you

I have a question, when ever i try to download a cdi file my computer turns it into a rar file what is going on?? And what website did you use?
Did this work for anyone watching? I've been troubleshooting for a while following the same steps.
Okay so whats the best website for downloading CDI files?
I tried CDromance and the files downloaded as 7Z files
W 13:27:24 Drive H:\ (FAT32) does not support single files > 4 GiB in size.
i keep getting this message
Luckily, there are no DC games that large
Does it work with ps2 and ps3 games?
Hello!!
Will burned games damage the laser lens of the dreamcast?
No it won't as it is a cd player.
dude where do i find cdis?
@Boney Rasputin mr bone. Internet archive?
@Boney Rasputin tight thanx
What do I do if it won't let me find the rom file. I know the rom file is there but it won't appear when I search it with the imgburn

How to you get the file from the original disc to your pc
It's a little beyond the scope of the vid, but certainly possible. Dreamcast games used the GD-ROM format, which is a bit more capacity than a CD-ROM formatted disc.
Absolute perfection
I copied a copy of a Dreamcast disc using Alcohol 120% & burned it as Safedisc profile. The Dreamcast booted it up fine.
how the heck do I get the cdi format?
Did you found cdi games or still?
I keep on getting an I/O Error, anyway how to fix it?
EXCELLENT tutorial. Thank you.
Hi...nice work...thank you for the video....can you please recommend any website where we can download the games with self boot? Thank you so much, you are amazing!

i don't have pftoc. Where is it?
If a larger CDI file is over 700mb, can I shrink/compress the file to be able to fit a 700mb CD?
Push the cd back in and it will finish it. I did that I got operation successfully completed! I guess it compresses the game?
All the games i want are at around 900 mb. the disk are only 700kb. any tips?
I noticed that the cdi file was larger than your disc size, is this not an issue?
hey mate, i can't seem to find those Discs in human price in australia
What can i do ? Maybe Verbatim ?
Really any disk works but some are just weaker and easier to mess up. Verbatim works for some people and doesn’t for others.
I have 700MB discs, and I get a message every time that there's not enough space on the disc.
Anyone know where to get dreamcast cdi files from
i followed this tutorial exactly but keep getting this message when the disk attempts tot verify "miscompare at lba " does anyone know the cause of this or how to fix it ?
Did you find any solution? İ get ot when the file size is very big 800+
0:06 when my bro sing
So what's the point of downloading the pfctoc files? You didn't really explain the point of them
It's so that IMGburn recognises the CDI format.
Dang it! Oh wait. It's the 1st session so after it finished and ran out of room. It ejected the tray then I closed it and finished with an Operation sucessfully completed!
wow what a great video

could be region lock for the originals?
Your burner actually ran at 7x, not 2x.
