I think Scifi Debris put it best. Galaxy quest is certainly poking fun and having a bit of a laugh at the expense of Trek. All done in a kind of a This is Spinal Tap, "not untrue enough" style that drives much of its humor. What is different here is that unlike Spaceballs, this is actually spoofing the real life aspects of not just Star Trek and sci-fi, but the fandom around it. Much of what it spoofs is the old school fandom who took these shows seriously despite their low budget, ofttimes hokey writing and acting, and the fact that being a fan had many social doors shut in your face. And on the actors side of things, taking roles in such shows often unfairly stagnate their acting career. Typecasting does not come from fans but from studio execs. Tim Allen: Show must go on!
Alan Rickman:.... Damn you!
😁👍
I was an actor once. Dammit now look at me. Look at me!
LMAO
Love his line “it’s always about YOU isn’t it!”😂
The show must go on. I love it.
He does say that "stupid line one more time." And it's awesome.
An overambitious underachiever: a Shakespearean actor paying the bills through a silly TV fantasy space show. It's crazy enough to actually be plausible. This movie was entertaining as a child, and absolutely intelligently and compelling as an adult.
@0:01 alan rickman at a harry potter convention
I love it so much, Alan Rickman's character's so funny when he's irritated. Does anyone know more of his comedy films?
Dogma, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, Gambit
@@JustSomeKittenwithaGun I love when he voiced the robot in hitchhikers guide, my favorite part is when he said he was talking to the ships computer and it hates him lol
@@shamzam3012
"I've been talking to the ship's computer......"
"......And?"
".....It *hates* me!"
Funnily enough, Alan Rickman (the guy in Alien makeup/costume) now actually has a role that fits this characters, a role that everyone will always think of him as for the rest of his career (probably)...
... Severus Snape.
It's so funny how these things work out.
LordGodsServant Except he's perfectly fine with being remembered as Snape XD
+LordGodsServant He sort of already had that, since he was best remembered as Hans Gruber before Snape.
Hans Gruber, the Sheriff of Nottingham, Colonel Brandon (for a good character)...he is remembered for many roles. Snape is usually last on my list when I think of his performances.
The sheriff of Nottingham, Hans Gruber, Marvin the paranoid Android, and a host of other characters disagree with you
Hans from Die Hard
Awesome movie. One of my favorites if only for the reason for the respect it gives to Sci Fi fans.
I love that it shows what typecasting can do t opeople. THe egoes involved, and even through the worst of it? THey stood by eachother for close t otwenty years at this point.
Yet they never really take it out on the fans, and whenTim's character does. Everyone notices and are immediately concerned.
You know who Alan Rickman's character reminds me of? He reminds me of ALF's star Max Wright. Just like Rickman in this film, Wright hated his character and most of all, his furry co-star.
The director of this movie is doing Bill and Ted 3 next year. I must say, it’s a fitting choice.
The wonders of the child's brain. When I first watched this movie, I didn't know these people were also Professor Snape, Ripley, and Buzz Lightyear till I grew up and rewatched this.
This intro start to the movie was awesome 👏Everyone acting was great….Richman , we all miss him 😢
rip Alan Rickman
