A little language (one very prominent GD and a sh** I think, once) but generally the content is okay for kids over about age 8 or 10 IMO - see the Commonsensemedia.org parent comments carefully and judge for yourself. Brilliant acting.

A credit to Sam Rockwell's talents when he manages to shine amidst Sigourney, Alan and Tim. He's funny and his comedic timing is impeccable.

Yea, it's Six, your full name is Guy Crewman Six. Your life expectancy was a lot shorter than if you were a female extra, they usually lasted the entire show. Although their screen time was about a minute or two.
How many actors in Hollywood ever successfully *talked back* to Sigourney Weaver and lived to tell about it?
Fun fact: Sam Rockwell strung himself up with caffeine to get Guy's jittery-ness just right.
This is the only movie I know of where every cast member stole the show.

Fun fact The scream guy does after seeing the thermians without their hologuise, was ad-libbed by rockwell on his own merit,
Sigourney weaver was actually spooked by it and they loved it so much they kept it in there.

I'm guessing they had to add the scream audio from the second shot as I'm sure everyone immediately laughed after the intial shock. You can see that cut just after the surprise.

just said as a throwaway line, but I ALWAYS crack up at that one! I also love it when Guy says "I'm So Sick of Bein' Right" just a few lines before. I can watch this movie again and again -a really great film, and 100% positive rating whenever I've recommended it to friends or had them over for movie nite, this one's a guaranteed hit!
Where's the "construct a rudimentary lathe line" which may be the greatest single line in the history of movies.
That line is literally the reason I clicked on the video.

I think there's another layer to the joke. One of the few times a core cast member has died permanently is Tasha Yar on ST:TNG. And what was she? Security Chief.

@@n0ireclipse ya generally if a core cast member is going to die it is most likely going to be in a heroic suicide. As a result it is normally the more military/combat cast member which the Security Chief is the one most fit for that role. It also matches because Guy literally proposes the exact heroic suicide mission that one of the main casts would die doing (its even in the video)

5:05 - As much as I love this line, I love Guy's reaction even more. Up to this point he's already had a nervous breakdown, but he sought comfort from Gwen when they were in the shuttle... so for her to turn around and say something is going to kill him, that is the moment where he shattered, and you can see it on his face and in his body language. Poor Guy. xD
I also loved the fact she is literally caring about his safety

Just saw Aliens for the first time (am insanely obsessed with the first movie, IMO Aliens is very good but doesn't compare... Gwen is a complete departure from Ripley but Sigourney proves herself a hysterically funny comedic actress) and I 100% see that. But IMO Sam is even better. Bill Paxton walked so Sam Rockwell could Olympic sprint.

When you are a man or woman who finds themselves in love with movies, you eventually will start to try to order them in terms of your favorites. #1 being this, #2 being that, etc. It's a fool's errand. The best you can do is to say these movies are in the top 10, or top 50, etc. Well, this movie is in my top 5. It works on so many levels.

In Galaxy Quest, Sam Rockwell's character was useless for 95% of the film except for when the crew went down to the planet where "Guy" pointed out that the seemingly cute denizens of the planet, would get mean somehow, and there would be a million more of them.

This came out the same year as The Green Mile. That is the definition of versatility.
It might also have been strategic to have a funny friendly role to compare with the disgusting evil one... Because the Green Mile's character could have stuck to the actor.

Here's a thought about Star Trek, in the mission statement it's "To boldly go where no man has gone before!" And yet several planets they do go to already has people there. What a way to start the show. At first I was not always impressed with Dr. McCoy's skills since just about any human was "Injured" his diagnose was "Jim, he's dead." and when an alien was injured his response was "Damn it Jim, I'm a Doctor, not a brick layer!" Then I remembered all the times that Kirk ran around with all those female aliens and never got any alien S.T.D.'s. That Doctor really was amazing. Just think if he messed with any of females on board, "Spock, this man is dea....
