Nothing beats a near packed M.C.G. I've been to a few finals there and it's amazing. Marvel is good, would be good if they had the roof open on occasion. S.C.G. was great, went to a packed Prelim and it was a great experience (minus the result). Haven't been to any other interstate venues. But even on T.V. a near packed M.C.G. is the best.

Optus Stadium is amazing, the MCG has plenty of concourses where you can't even see daylight, and a 30k crowd at Optus is a lot more pleasant to look at than that at the MCG. Adelaide Oval is always #1 even tho I've never been

I would rate the Gold Coast stadium higher than the Gabba, I have been to both and neither is a bad stadium but the vibe around the GC stadium is really different, you have kids playground, plenty of space for kicking the footy around, they bring in performers. The down side to the stadium looking empty is the view you get from the concourse as it is built at that perfect height for great viewing, you can find it 10 people deep in spots! Fun fact about the GC light towers, when the original stadium was built for the bears the light towers were never paid for and have never been to this day.

Perth is daylights above every stadium. For appearance, views, atmosphere and just the right size. Have you been to the stadium? The seats have a pattern designed by an artist. The seats are spacious and spread out, which take a few thousand off capacity but heck its comfortable. Protected by rain. Ample corporate facilities. Easy to get in and out. Ample food and drink options. Its honestly a no brainer. Your comment that you don't like the grand stands to look the same (ie have a sense of unity and symmetry). But then MCG is first? When its acknowledged to be behind best practice and people like Eddie McGuire actually wants to reconstruct half the ground and rebuild it . Says quite a bit.

    • @BDub2024
      @BDub2024 7 месяцев назад +10

@@beansohio-ug1hr it fits the most people, but isn't the best stadium. That's rubbish. Its built for size. So for the spectators its average. Whereas in Perth, the stadium was built specifically for cricket and football, not just to cram in as many people as possible. They deliberately created extra space between seats and rows of seating. As a venue, its an ideal stadium to play cricket on, with a lot of work done to make it a premier venue. But when people talk about great cricket stadiums they talk of SCG and Adelaide... does anyone seriously say MCG.

Great video. A couple of notes:
*The Mt Barker ground is something of a white elephant - the local footy league and its clubs have refused to play at the ground for some reason or another, leaving Gather Round as the only event of note held there
*You're right about UTAS feeling like more of a footy ground than a cricket ground, as it was designed for footy first and foremost, with cricket in Launceston being played at the NTCA Ground. In Hobart, Bellerive was traditionally a cricket ground (along with the TCA Ground) with footy in the city being split between North Hobart Oval and KGV at Glenorchy.
Also, I'd be interested to see where you would rank:
    1) Cazaly's Stadium in Cairns - has hosted games in recent years, but not this season (although there is talk of Hawthorn going there when their Tassie deal ends)
    2) The rumoured Barossa Valley ground which will apparently host a Gather Round game next season (supposedly there will be vineyards near the stadium which will be seen on the TV telecast)
EDIT: You can add Hands Oval in Bunbury (where North Melbourne will play a home game next year) to this list

This means that on afternoon & twighlight games spectators in the Eastern Stands get exposed to more Sun. I like your vids but unfortunately this one is kind of pointless...It's not fair to rate stadiums on a number of parameters . The part time stadiums are exactly that and cannot compete . Would be better to rank the major city ones separately to them either in a different video or in two sections of same vid . Also nobody rates like this the playing surfaces which is a pretty critical part of our game . Could you do that sometime ? Loved the crowd attendances etc vid ...that was very interesting

There is having an opinion, and then there is simply being objectively wrong. There is no way you objectively assess the stadium’s and come to this conclusion. Optus is simply a far superior spectator experience than AO or MCG. It’s honestly not even close. Need to take your bias glasses off.

Aesthetics vary from person to person, but one thing Optus has over the rest of the top 5 is objectively superior sightlines. Particularly in the ground bowl where the gradient at Optus is must better than the 12° MCG, 11° Marvel, and the pathetically shallow 9° Adelaide Oval and SCG.
Optus Stadiums bowl is far move broken up than unobservant people have noticed.

MCG isn’t number 1 stadium in the AFL, only has an atmosphere few games a year and is very outdated and needs some updated amenities and some poor viewing sections, apart from shear size and history it doesn’t do much else. Optus Stadium and Adelaide Oval are 1 and 2 take your pick both have credits for number 1.

You've got it all wrong any ground with standing room is always better. I've stopped going to AFL games since Kadina park got rid of its last piece of standing room.
Watching footy in sears drinking mid strength out of a plastic cup surrounded by security guards and up tie people that have a flip out if someone gets looses there shit is no fun at all.
Not to mention stupid electronic garbage advertising pushing some crap in your face that no wants or needs. AFL is so much worse than it was in the 80s and 90s, no characters left with the fing media turning nothing stories into a circus. All the rule changes, players getting rubbed out for 3 or 4 weeks for very minor bumps. AFL is all money and hand jobs I can't even watch it on tele.
