    So glad to hear your getting rid of those cheap bumpers!! They where not right and don't deserve to be on the Murci
    I am with you too, the Pre LP cars look the best :)
    EDIT: The Throttle bodies are very very sensitive for the Murci on PreLP cars - I would recommend that you get the 4 you have rebuilt and sync'ed there are a few companies that do these, I have an invoice at home for who did mine last year. They also MUST be "trimmed into balance" via LARA or a good 3rd Party Lamborghini Diagnostics software or you will get misfires, poor idle control and constant stalling. The PreLP cars don't automatically do this either.

    On the instrument panel, when handling, they are prone to static discharge damage like motherboard for PC. Wear ESD strap when handling it and NEVER leave it sitting on top of that anti static bag it came in. Those bags designed to hold static electricity on the outside so if you sit motherboard on it you risk damaging it. Great video Matt. Onwards and upwards.

    Matt, I used to work on Detroit Diesels and the oil pumps were very similar as in how they were assembled. On engine overhauls, we used to use valve grinding paste on the internal gears to take off any high spots and roughness. (not in the shaft bearing though) Aftewrwards you can feel the looseness of rotation which is good. The missing shaft key can be purchased from any good engineering supply company. Do not be put off it's an easy job. Screw the 3k from Lambo. Good luck.

    Matt,
    From my perspective. (44 years fixing aircraft as an engineer) that oil pump would be fine if you assemble it in the reverse way you took it apart. The woodruff key is obviously an issue but if you have found the correct key it will be fine. This type of gear pump is used on aircraft engines for pressure and scavenge and they just don’t fail. Aircraft have filter systems that prevent ingress of particles that would damage the gears and I can honestly say that I have rarely changed an engine oil pump due to gear failure.

    • @Intersteve1
      @Intersteve1 Год назад

      @@matarmstrongmk2 I take your point Matt. I saw the state of the engine build so I imagine you have to base your understanding on what you have seen overall. It is a pity that you are unable to get an exploded view of that pump because gear pumps, unlike piston, swash plate pumps are relatively simple and bullet proof usually. It is a lot of money for the new one but like you say at least then you have peace of mind having gone through the complete rebuild of that very expensive engine. Good luck with it Matt and keep the videos coming, I love watching them. I have been a nut about mechanics since I can remember which is why I ended up fixing planes for a living I suppose. 👍

    Matt, the oil pump style is a gerota pump & the key is a normal key. You can buy key stock, cut it to size and file the radius at either end. Machinists Apprentices do this all the time. The piston is a pressure bypass to ensure a consistent pressure. You should know the operational pressure of the engine and the bypass should be around it

    Might be worth talking to that bloke from Driftworks who made that crazy drift LP-40, he may know some tips for cheap alternative parts/figments

    Keep the car original Matt, it’s a mad enough car from factory. Just restore it and enjoy the drive and the attention 👌👍🏼

    Mat, can you make a video of a day in your life? Like what your day looks like from the moment you wake up till you go to bed? Showing us how you decide which project you're taking on that day, the editing probably at the end of the day with the voiceover and all that. I think it would be really interesting to watch! :)

    Mat is made of courage, problem solving and never backs down to climb the next hill. This time he bought a mountain for a ton of money. I’m very impressed with Mat, the Lamborghini not so much. We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them- Albert Einstein,” but then again he would not have bought the big green monster made of snakes. Lol, Love u Mat Tony n Patty from Tx.
