I am 70+ years old. My son, turning 30 this year, introduced me to this creative duo maybe 10 ~ 12 yrs ago. They are amazing. We saw them live @ an outdoor concert near Seattle (Marymoor Park) with Robyn in Jun 2014. Now, with the addition of VISUAL, they create what is as close to a psychedelic experience as one can have without the use of any additional stimulant. I should probably add ... I have NOT used any such substance, ZERO, since the mid '80s. Maybe by that point it was enough to last a lifetime ... who knows? Let us just hope they continue on their remarkable journey. I, for one, will be along for the ride.
I applaud you 950Charlie!! No matter what your age - it is a natural human response to seek musical stimulation and imaginary thought provided by the likes of the exceptionally talented Royksopp. They are incredibly talented. You are so lucky to have seen them perform live. Down here in Australia, we are less fortunate - but live in hope that they will tour one day!
How nice to read this! My father was born in 1945, me in 1972. I grew up with the sounds of early Pink Floyd, Yes, Wings, Isao Tomita, Leo Kottke, lots of classical music, Inti Illimani ... psychedelia and prog rock are my favorites. I am grateful to my father! Unfortunately, a mockery of fate or nature, he has progressively become deaf very young but the music is in his heart.
Sit back, roll a 3 skinner, put headphones on, light up, drop needle into grove, and.........go! That was back in the 70's. We had Tonto's Expanding Head Band, then Tangerine Dream and Kraftwerk. Today, no more skinners, headphones, or records. However I have CD's, streaming, and Royksopp. Brilliant! 😊
I said the same when I heard daft punk for the first time, I didn't know anything about EDM, trance or any electronic group but I know greatness and I said for shure ram will get grammys of all kinds, it was too obvious and to excelent. This compendium of albums is even more profound and overwhelming in the body of work, they didn't leave a stone unturned, so I agree it deserves by far all the accolades and praises the industry can give, anything else would be considered a crime against humanity specially if the award is given to Taylor, Bionce or the other commercial artists that usually are pushed by a very mediocre industry that for some reason is reluctant to value the art above all.
Back when they released the excellent single Never Ever w/ Susanne Sundfør, I remember posting a reply to someone's youtube comment (that has since been deleted? maybe?) about how I thought Röyksopp were selling themselves short by forgoing the album format in favor of single releases only, and that I wished they would release an album that flows from track to track telling a kind of story, like my favorite DJ mixes and mixtapes. Of course, I can't be sure of the likelihood that Röyksopp read my comment, let alone that it would have had any effect on their decision-making if they did, but what I can be sure of is that this album has far exceeded my wildest expectations. The engaging aesthetic and lore, the continuous visual experience and official videos, Profound Mysteries is a fantastic dream; I am elated. Thank you, Svein Berge and Torbjørn Brundtland, for another excellent album and experience!
In those hard times, we can feel how creators, artists, musicians are so important to level up our mind, our spirit. Thanks a lot Royksopp for this masterpiece and for all that you've done. We are lucky to have you.
the best thing about this beautiful peace of music: it delivers HOPE. it's all about the believe in the beauty of beeing and that we are all connected in harmony ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🖤
Настолько тёплые звуки могли создать люди, влюблённые в музыку. У меня нет сравнений, это шедевр. Переслушиваю в сотый раз, хотите, кидайте в меня камни, я точно знаю, что эта музыка вне конкуренции!
Do you want to feel old? There's a new Royksopp album with Alison Goldrapp and Susanne Sundfor and almost nobody is talking about it. Let's hope Cercle invite them soon to one of their streamings.
I just texted my sister describing this as something between Massive Attack and Pink Floyd and anything else that's absolutely beautiful. I didn't even get to talking about Alison Goldfrapp. I prostrate before thee!
I don't think Massive Attack compares to this AT ALL. Pink Floyd was out there (I'm old enough to remember them from early in their career), and while applaud their creativity, it just does not compare to Royksopp. You've obviously got a great taste in music, seriously, but I think you need to find better end posts to put this in between :)
Every day at 1:11pm PST I repeat the word YES for 1 minute, 11 seconds. - I do it to increase our collective joy, bliss, love, abundance, light, and YES. - My alarm is MONUMENT - and the "yes" goes until the first musical interlude. ❤ Set your alarm - join me - let's create a global tidal wave of positivity and YES!

'If you want me' and 'Mourning Sun'. I haven't listened to something like this before. I love Royksopp's work + Susanne's voice long time ago already. But this is ethereal. Ambient, simple, blissful, powerful ....
I've often thought that ( say for example) Eple is the best track only for some other track like happy up here to change my mind then along comes This Space , The ladder etc. I've now come to the conclusion that there is no ' best track' of royksopp, just many many superbly outstanding tracks I'm ( like the rest of us) so fortunate to have discovered them and have had the privilege of listening to such quality. Im now aware its mpossible for me to even make a top 10 best tracks. Just when I think I may have nailed it on my playlist, the lost tapes 'remind me ' just how incredible the music is. Royksopp forever is embedded into my heart . So many they make it possible to listen without killing any one track through overplay. They are the masters , the messi, the Salvador Dali etc of music . Words fail to express the emotion this band bring to my life they stand alone above all others
this album came out in a period of great illness of me but it proves a great healing experience and source of optimism. I'm so happy and grateful that those geniuses are continuing making music.
Take good care of yourself. Music may heal most appaling pains, likewise I m suffering as well, for our planet too. Provided you come across an album that pierces your soul, comforts your heart...etc...This new unexpected album for me is perfection itself, food for acute emotions and YOUR CURE. Bye from France
Same here. It has helped me cope. Some things hurt back then and the album slightly hurt me too, but it was all in realisation and reflection on what was REALLY happening and helped me get better. I think that is the magic of the very introspective, melodic nature of Profound Mysteries as the series as a whole. For example if the whole album/whole series of albums was based on the dance/house base of Breathe, Impossible and This Time, This Place it would mean much less for me. The slow, ambient cuts in this are the ones that truly have an effect. Interesting to see someone who had a similar experience with this music, hope you found health and balance in your life :)
Saw them in munich as a preband of Moby really long time ago and loved it from the firsf Moment. Seeing and hearing them now with this supersrunning Sound and Developement thrills me 💥
Never nenjoyed before Royskopp music but, now, after i listened this Profound Mysteeries it oppenned my chakras and it did it without me propousing myself to do it it just worked for me, thank you for tweaking my psycology and do a new experience i never had before with music. I wanted to go to that show so badly. My employer wouldn't let me off work. I should've quit that stupid job.

My lovely unusual band.
Just what I needed to turn my brain offline. Shivers!!
That beat drop on the ladder could produce babies.
The fact that they came back with an album gives me IMMENSE hope to see them live one day.
Not with MR. Covid around
There's plenty of live performances of Röyksopp this summer. Personally I've going to Bergenfest where they'll play at the main fortress in he city.
Do you live there? I am from Switzerland and I'm still looking for some röyksopp fans to join :)
Keyboard milk left me feeling butterflies in my stomach..

Is it too early to say album of the year? Well maybe, but it won't stop me from saying so. ALBUM OF THE YEAR!

Friday evenenings are usually reserved for gaming, beer and chill. But now it's reserved for Royksopp, beer and chill. Can't wait.
Same here ☺️ was about to race some GT7 and drink gin, but no drunk driving tonight… Strictly reserved for Royksopp ❤️
My wife took our son to bed so i could be here watching with a beer in my hand. Thank you wife ❤

The most important musical duo of the 21st century. I am grateful to have been alive in the Time of Royksopp.
Hmmm, you might be understating "Orbital" with that comment.
The most important is pet shop boys but royksopp is a very good band too.

It's a great album, yes.
Still the best.
Peace from Turkey.
I lost my grandpa today, and happened to stumble across this album. When The Mourning Sun came on...well, I lost it. Truly an amazing piece of music.
