      @@UNITEDBYTRUCKS Well the girl at Uhaul was so damn slow and out of it ,we think she was high on something. We were there nearly an hour waiting for the trailer we reserved. She had no clue what she was doing and she acted like she wasn't too sure where she was. We finally got the bed home around 4pm and was too tired to do anything but get it into the backyard til tomorrow morning. I forgot to mention they lost my reservation. We were up at 7am ready to go pick up the trailer. Uhaul needs to get their shit together because I got transferred to a Uhaul store in Toronto Canada twice. • @morgansword
    @morgansword 5 лет назад +1

    It is what he wants and that is the important thing. I would change things to what I like and it is a lot different in terms of feel, I like the street approach and pinstriping is a art form that is way cool. Obviously I'm old cause the way I talk. I'm 72 and built Mmm, lost count for sure. I like big blocks and love music from the pipes. I don't like side dumps as they burn everything they get near when doing the fuel so out the back and stainless pipe. Wheelie bars are nice touch but four link is the right way on C10's. I love the red color to the max. Yet out in front on the aprons is in your face. I like serpentine belts and V belts just talk problems. I think the fuel is wrong if your making it a daily driver and not putting the title up on he week ends. My Ford Hi Body with 427 and all cobra jet everything including bottom of block. Braces and side bolts, locks, it never wiggled at all and at polar race track without getting stupid would get in the thirteen low end... pulled some twelves too. The truck was full on one ton aluminum bed dually 4x4 with the ten bolt wheels. All steel and chromed out to a sparkle. I even broke one of those seven hundred dollar wheels on the track and the crowd took up a fund and got me another one cause you don't go in to a tire store an say... Ya, give me six of those steelies. I run a hood with a full tilt front that was special. You could grab it while it was up and try to shake it but no wiggles and you could lock it up cause I liked driving around with it up on the track before races. I put my window in it so I had a ten inch screen to see through but it would be crazy to drive it that way. Trucks name: Widow Maker with it pinstriped by me in the low corners of front fenders. My album was in the truck when it burn to a crisp and these cameras were just... this was 1997 and I couldn't spell camera.. We didn't have internet here then and what we started with was so sad that I dropped it for a long time and then in five brought it back. A fuel truck caught fire on the far side of it so driver nearly got burnt cause he didn't see it either. My truck was parked about three down and in line for fuel to... ave gas. It run better with it and the engine was built for it. No valves flouting on tops. It hurt for a long while cause it was real bad but the insurance made me feel better. I got to thinking about having a life and didn't build again and of course I got crippled in 2005 on first day Oct., so it ended my days of doing the swan in my garage that had two lifts... It hurts worse losing all that when money came due and I had spent everything to fix my back and neck.

    hey whitlock, can you help me out. What transmission do you and your buddies usually run and what rear end gear? I have a 80 c10 short bed and my 700r4 is burned and was thinking of going towards a th400 so it can last me. what do you think? and what gear would i need to have to be street and little highway use? thank you

    • @UNITEDBYTRUCKS
      @UNITEDBYTRUCKS  5 лет назад +1

      Hey, Marco - I would definitely stay with the overdrive, especially if your reared gearing is already suitable for it. You're going to find that these trucks are much more enjoyable to drive on the highway with overdrive and the right gearing. We typically run anywhere from 3.42-3.73 for street trucks. If you're dead set on th350 or 400, I'd suggest something in the 3.07 range.

    • @malc1012
      @malc1012 5 лет назад +1

      @@UNITEDBYTRUCKS thanks for the reply! i definitely dont know what gearing it has but when the transmission was working and when i would floor it, it will just get loud but the truck wasnt going fast. I want more of a race truck but crusier too. If you think i can get that out of a 700r4, then i'll find someone to rebuilt it. I want a nice trans with shift kit to churp the tires when needed lol

    • @UNITEDBYTRUCKS
      @UNITEDBYTRUCKS  5 лет назад +1

      Understand that. I would have the 700r4 rebuilt and then look into a set of gears and a posi or limited slip rear differential.

      I have a 700r in 46 Ford Sedan and I love it on the street I can drive it anywhere and get good fuel mileage, I chose to go with the 350 turbo in truck and used a 3.42 with a tall tire which helps the gear ratio to help not turn so many rpms on highway. Just my opinion if you plan on putting it on track might want to go with 350 or 400 they are alot cheaper to build and hold up for any power, 700r can be built for the track but more expensive. Now this information has come from the guy that builds my transmissions

    Yo whitlock need your opinion on my drop... I’m doing a 4/6 drop on my 86 c10 swb.... factory suspension... I’m goin with a western chassis kit.. there’s two to choose from one with front spindles and one without....
    (“Front spindles are for the heavy duty Chevy and GMC C10 trucks with a rotor thickness of 1.25".”) is what it says also this one makes it 4.5/6 drop...
    What do you think?? Do I need the spindle kit or nahhhh? Thanks

    • @MrJayo73

      @@vinniehill4, you're probably right in some aspects, but it's the nostalgia of the truck that makes it iconic. The sound, the feel, and the streetability. It's nothing to get upset about, man. Just have some respect for a job well done, even if you don't agree with the origins of its power. In my opinion, the sound of a big V8 trumps the 7 second track time. You don't have to be fast if you have a big motor.

    Dam a tunnel ram and some spacers that are 2or3 " that intake probably sweats like a beer can. Those trucks have a ton of room under the hood. Very nice project.
