Astrid S is what we call one of many "musical sisters" of Angelina Jordan,there are surprisingly alot of really good female solo artists in Norway right now. But only Angelina and Aurora seems to be suggested alot on YT,so i thought i should add one of the others in Astrid S,to bring in a new face.
Astrid earliest years: Astrid Smeplass started playing music at a young age and was only six years old when she started taking piano lessons. As a seven-year-old, she joined a local school band, where she played the flute. Later she took singing lessons. She is self-taught on the guitar.
At just 17 she auditioned for Norwegian Idol 2013,where she ended on a solid 5th in the finals. So she is celebrating her 10 year anniversary as an artist these days,still only 27 years old.
Astrid is a singer,songwriter and actress. Here are some of her early highlights in her career so far:
In 2015, she performed with Shawn Mendes on the song "Air" on his debut album Handwritten. She won two awards under P3 Gold in 2015: newcomer of the year and song of the year for "2 AM" (This while still not having a debut album out)
During the Norwegian Grammies (Spellemannprisen) 2016, she won newcomer of the year with a money award for Astrid S (her debut album) and was also nominated in the song of the year class for "Hurts So Good". She won artist of the year at the Norwegian Grammies (Spellemannprisen) 2017. In addition, she was nominated in the song of the year class for "Think Before I Talk".
In 2017, Astrid provided backing vocals on Katy Perry's song "Hey Hey Hey" from the album Witness.
Due to her fast growing popularity,in 2018 she was invited in as a guest judge in Norwegian Idol,where she got her early start.
There is alot of nice info about Astrid (pronounced "Astri" with a silent D),but i felt like keeping it abit shorter. She has several "musical besties" that i might introduce you to as well later on. But with this i wanted to show you how she can own a song,with barely any instruments. She tends to make 2 versions of all of her own solo songs too,as her fanbase kept craving more,because they loved her acoustic versions.
I might need to tip her off on this reaction,i know she will burst into her huge smile. She will love all 3 of you! Shes a total sweetheart,just like Angelina who you already know on the channel is. Many of us in her community think she still is seriously underrated,thats why i wanted her to be my first introduction. Im really glad you liked the song and her performance!
I never got the chance to ask her,but i think this might be her own or someone she knows "backyard". I agree,its stunningly beautiful with all the plants!
