    Nice guitar! I used to be a moderator and administrator for Cort’s discussion forums, maybe 12-14 years ago. I’ve owned three or four over the years.
    And you probably already have several guitars made by Cort. Lower-cost Ibanez guitars and all Squiers are made by Cort, as well as many other brands. Check the serial numbers; if it starts with “IC” it’s an Indonesian Cort.

      @@Brumms_ Hey! I wish I could help you more. Cort has never been very good at getting back. And they don't really have much in the way of information, even when I was a moderator none of use could get information about many Cort guitars. I can tell you that the first three or four digits will tell you when it was made, with the first one or two digits being the year (8 for 98, 7 for 97, 02 for 2002 etc.) and the next two being the month (01 for January, etc.). The rest of the digits indicate where in the line your guitar was made. Cort uses one serial range for all instruments, so if yours is xxxx2437, it was the 2,437th guitar made that month.
      Around 2000 Cort overhauled their lineup in a sense. They kept making mostly the same guitars, but changed the model names. So what was the S series became the G series, and if I am remembering right the Viva became the X. The electronics are probably Mighty Mite if they don't have any markings (Mighty Mite and Cort are owned by the same parent company). Korea was originally where the high-end Corts were made, with the cheaper guitars coming from Indonesia or China. There are some old catalogs online, but they are locked behind a paywall. I wish I could tell you something more specific, Cort doesn't have very good record keeping.

    • @FrankFurther
      @FrankFurther 2 года назад +1

      Had a prs se 24 made by them which rocked

    • @sunburstbasser
      @sunburstbasser 2 года назад

      @@Brumms_ I think your remark about being made for specific regions is correct. I have a 2001 "GB Series" bass, which I don't think was officially sold in the US. But, I found some identical modesls years ago, new, in Germany, sold as a GB-54.
      One of our moderators lived in Turkey. Apparently Cort is very popular in Turkey because they can keep the price lower than the more well-known brands. If I had unlimited funds, I think it would be fun to track down as many models as possible and build a reference collection for others!

    I own both the Cort X700 Duality (Duncan JB & Jazz) and X700 Duality II (Fishman Fluence Classics). Both are awesome. I generally don't like active pickups. The Fluence Classics are active but they don't sound like it. They have all the warmth & dynamics of great passive pickups. Plus they have 3 distinctly different voices: PAF, Hotrod, and Singlecoil.The PAF voicing nails awesome Gibson tones. Hotrod voicing is very similar to Duncan JB & 59, but improved where the neck pickup isn't as scooped and boomy as the 59 neck and the bridge pickup is like a JB with more lows & low mids and no nasty high-mid spike. The singlecoil voicing doesn't sound exactly like any traditional singlecoil I've ever used but it's much closer than you get with any split humbucker. The Duality II with Fishman Classics truly provides the sounds of 3 different great guitars. I still really like the original X700 Duality because it provides 3 tones from the JB & Jazz humbuckers that I enjoy. (The original Duality inside coils & outside coils of the JB & Jazz in positions 2 & 4 are thin and not so useful to me.) Duality II has 8 unique tones and I like them all, even the singlecoil voicings.

      @@carlosclaptrixyou're very welcome. I also want to add that the Fluence voicings are much more distinct through a tube amp or higher quality modeler than through the THR used in this video, especially the high gain tones. Also, Cort's higher end models like X700 and G300 offer incredible value, quality, and specs.

My friend had a neck-thru strat by a company called Cortez back in the early '80's , wonder if it's the same company? Congrats & you ROCK!!!

    I'm thinking about getting the new Matt Heafy Epiphone but one thing I've noticed when it comes to Fishman Fluence pickups is that there doesn't seem to be much of a difference in the voicings when using distortion. This video definitely confirms it. Heard it much more with the cleans.

    • @RachelfGuitar
      @RachelfGuitar  2 года назад

      Yeah it's quite a subtle difference when using heavily distorted tones, although I feel like that's generally the same for most pickups I've tried. The clean tones differences are definitely way more clear. Overall though I really like how they sound both clean and distorted!

    Cort is one of the best budget-friendly brands around, as well as a strong player in the middle/high end model field.
    I've been saving to get a Cort M200, a PRS-like model that costs way less than the quality delivered, good price in the used market. Really amazing!

  • @yesitrotamundos2904
    @yesitrotamundos2904 Год назад

    Cort is awesome. I have an electric KX300 in raw burst and an acoustic MR500E. I think you get a lot of bang for your buck with them, you are not just paying an overinflated price because of the brand name.
    The biggest difference for me in Colombia is that you don't have to pay expressive shipping/import fees/customs that get added to the price tag. The music store (Ortizo) I bought mine from sell Fenders and Cort, all of the fenders cost way more than in the US. Today with the exchange rate, the K700 costs 4 375 000 pesos (942 USD) here.

    Cort guitars are as good as anything one can buy today from Ibanez, PRS or any of higher profile brands, but come with a much user friendlier performance to price ratio. BQ, finish & QC are outstanding as are components and design. I own and play three Cort guitars, and wouldn't hesitate to buy Cort. In their class, the Dualitys are magnificent if they fit the genre and style of playing wanted. Cort's Indonesian QC is superior to Ibanez and Yamaha QC on their guitars from Indonesia IMPE.

    If you don’t like floating trems, a good compromise is to set it dive only with a 10$ trem blocker from Amazon. You get rid of all the tuning, string break, string change problems and still can dive bomb.

    • @danz4904
      @danz4904 2 года назад +1

      I own a Cort X700 and G300, both with this same tremolo bridge. Neither has any problems staying in tune or breaking strings. It's easy to change strings like with any decent Strat style guitar. If you have any tuning issues then apply some graphite to the nut slots.

    • @martincloutier666
      @martincloutier666 2 года назад

      @@danz4904 the tuning issue I am talking about is more what happens if you try to tune down without adjusting the springs tensions. Same with the string break, I was not saying that it is more prone to break, I was saying that if you break a string you are in trouble because all the other strings will be out of tune. If you can live with that then you don't have to do anything, but if it is unacceptable then you have compromise that blocking the trem to dive only. The device is inexpensive, invisible and you can always go back to full floating with a few turn of an allen key.

    • @danz4904
      @danz4904 2 года назад +1

      @@martincloutier666 I understand. As you know, it's the case with any floating tremolo: Strats, Floyd Rose, etc. The trem stopper you're talking about makes it similar to how EVH set up his guitars. He had a decked Floyd Rose tremolo (that sat against the body with no cut-out) so he couldn't pull up on it. He set the spring tension higher than necessary so he could go to drop D without any significant tuning changes on the other strings. Personally, I like having a floating tremolo. The Cort tremolo on the X700 is as good or better than any Gotoh or other vintage (non-locking) style tremolo I'm aware of. If a string breaks, it's quick and easy to change thanks to the locking tuners. For alternate tunings I use other guitars. I only need a small excuse to get more guitars, LOL.

    First off, that guitar is beautiful looking and has everything you need to play very clean. Also I gotta ask, how did you get these guitar companies to send you there stuff to try out? ( you don't have to answer if it's a private thing, I was just curious.)

    Is the neck similar to the ones on the Ibanez guitar? Or is it thicker and less wide? thanks

    Hey Rachel, what's your opinion about the coil split mode ? I have been a little dillemic about buying a guitar with Humbuckers and then splitting the coils, and the other one being just buying a single coiled strat. Is the coil split similar to that of the original Single coils ? Would love to hear what you think about it :D :P Great video!!

    If you haven't yet you need to try out some schecter guitars from their medium range to high end range, I got the apocalypse red reign c-7 and the Hellraiser c-7 and think they rock, 6 string versions are cool too, well worth a blast well worth the money only down side on the guitars over £1000 there no hard case with it but got one with my fender elite which was £100 more than one of my schecters, problem now even the low end guitars available are brilliant, a guitarist is spoilt for choice 😁😁😁😁😁🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

      My SLS elite is just as good/nice as my 2400 dollar MiJ Jackson at half the price.
