OMG once again you have saved a whole batch of my work that I have left lying in a draw because they came out dull and I can't dome them. Thanks so much .
@@donnar9864 yes so pretty, I’m not a fan of the gold ones. But him being color blind I’m sure he can’t see how much prettier the red ones are especially the gold /red one!
Omg how EASY is THAT! Now I can use ALL my molds that I had for my clay and for some reason never used! I thought putting resin over a piece would work but was wondering how to do it without dripping. Didn't even think to just rub it on with finger. So obvious yet elusive in my mind! Lol! Thanks!
Thank You So Much for making this one of the easiest fool proof methods for making dull resin shiny. Been watching so many videos my head is starting to hurt. And this was the easiest!
What UV resin do you use? I've tried Steve's method in video, but the resin didn't adhere correctly (the final look appeared as if I mixed oil & water on top). It could've been the resin I was using at the time, but I've thought of trying a UV resin for these times.
@@theresamcmanus3934 Truthfully, I buy my UV resin off Amazon and I think they are all the same. They all seem to work the same to me, anyway. One thing I will tell you is that any suggested cure times given by these UV resin companies needs to be multiplied by 10. If they say the cure time is 30 seconds, I say _yeah right!_ Three minutes will probably be more appropriate.
Thank you so much for this simple method. I'm new to epoxy resin and have been designing necklaces. I don't have much money so I am so happy to have found a shine remedy from what I have on hand. You're great. 😊💗🎨
Great idea Steve! I usually use a brush but it can leave unwanted brush marks which is very annoying. It’s such a simple idea but brilliant! I’ve ordered some of those tiny brushes for popping bubbles too 😄👍👏🏻
You are a genius! I just bought a cute doggo faces mould and it came through dull... all the good ones are and I was wondering how I would pour on such a small pattern after it had cured! You’ve solved my problem! They are fully cured tomorrow so I will try this technique! Thank you thank you thank you!
Ahhh! I've just spent hours looking at polishing products for some dull pieces, and all I have to do is smear a finger of resin all over them? haha thank you, will be trying this tomorrow!
I’ve just found this video because my resined pieces were pretty dull. However, I’ve just sprayed them with Windsor and Newton clear gloss spray. It seems to have worked, they are lovely and shiny now. Just need to see if they stay that way.
Hi Steve. Love your videos as I am just starting and you seem to answer all my questions. Subscribed! On the video you said you linked a video of painting with the mica (on the eyes and lips)? I can't find it anywhere. I want these neat astrology trinket box but they all have the details painted with gold or silver. I can't find anything of how to do it. Seen many references that it is easy, I can't imagine how to clean up the mess that is going to go where it is not meant to go? Thank you for all your videos. They are great!
Not sure if you know this but Steve is colorblind (which makes his videos even more amazing in my opinion!) A lot of colorblind people see yellow best out of all the colors on the spectrum. So maybe Steve is like that!
thank you for the videos you always make, would this work in something that has a ton of lines, i made butterflies out of a baking mold they have so much detail in the wings but their dull.
Lovely... Nice way to shine a dull piece!! Never thought of doing the final coat this way.. I do have a question for you today. Could you show how to make a mold for a tray without having a tray to mold around please? I have an idea of the shape I want, however, I've never seen a mold for it. So I need to make my own... It needs to have a small lip (1/2") around the edges. Thanks in advance for your efforts on my behalf.
*sigh* I thought this was a new method. Thanks for the tip about the tiny brushes though. Now that you have the glossy pieces it’s time to use them to make your own molds, making a mold from a glossy piece will make a glossy mold and then you can resell the matte molds.
I have an actual tool handle made of silicone, (*not resin) and I'm wondering how I can make it shiny again, basically the mold, my tool handle. Thanks
My mind is blown lol. Tbh it’s going to be really tough to touch resin even with gloves since I’ve trained myself not to ever touch it but man that worked so well!!!
@@SteveMcDonaldArtsandCrafts I've seen plenty of people say they've damaged molds with their lighter too. And a quick spritz of alcohol can't be any more damaging to the lungs than using resin without a respirator. To each their own. Just offering up another alternative to those not wanting to use a flame near their molds.
I was buying some diferente sandpapers and nail files with 4 steps. It's only working good on flat surfaces. Also not good to to make resin dust and you need to use wet sandpaper. I should try you method. Question: can you use UV resin to coat a piece made with normal resin?
@@SteveMcDonaldArtsandCrafts thank you. I enjoy watching your experiments as well as your how to. Were you ever going to show how I can make my own bezel with wire?
One thing I absolutely love about your videos is that they're usually right to the point and not wasting a lot of time. Very happily subscribed!

My first experience with resin was using it to coat painted friendship rocks.
Hi, just wanna ask when you started coating with resin, is it mixed with hardener or just resin? thank you!
Both, because just resin wouldn't cure
A spritz of rubbing alcohol is great for popping bubbles, and safer for molds

My resin stud not shiny ..looks very dull... but small stud 2nd coat redin not possible ...so what is second option
Are those the same brushes the dentist uses?
Is the resin mixed with the hardener or just resin in its own to get the shine?
My question too!
Hi! What ratio do you use for the shiny top layer?
It would be whatever ratio your resin calls for, usually 1:1
Just resin? No hardener? Ty in advance :)
