    Sounds a bit like a UMX A10 that's had a few too many bacon cheeseburgers.
    Beautiful F22, though.
    4 minutes on 4s2200 in a TWIN is pretty impressive.
    Must be super efficient.
    Great filming, Heidi 👍

    Neat little EDF model, Adam. Interesting that this will fly, with twin 40mms, for nearly twice as long as XFly's twin 50mm Su-27... both on a 2200 4s. Goes to show the efficiency of the twin 40 setup... and it gets the job done. Nice model - well done XFly, well done Team Model AV8R!

    I'm getting 3 minutes on a 3S 2200 in my Motion RC version 1, 64 mm Freewing. Was looking to upgrade to the 4S but I love the idea of twin 40's and the option to use thrust diff. If it truly gets 4 minutes on a 4S 2200 I'm definitely sold! Lord knows we need more flight times with these EDF's.

    This is one of the reasons why I did not do a detailed unboxing and assembly. I know someone would😊 I was wondering about the cg though. The book said 80mm, I saw you did 90mm. My spektrum 2200 30c are making it tail heavy around 90mm so I guess it will be fine. Hopefully maiden mine this Sunday 🙏

    I didn't expect to like this plane but was VERY impressed with its flying qualities. So much to keep the pilot interested, with its great speed range, agility, ability to fly in a remarkable scale like manner/speed, excellent manners in the flare, stall, instant/high G turns etc. and a cool twin EDF sound. I loved it. Rudder control would be good though in order to explore its potential to the max (could this be done without too much weight penalty though?). On the issue of its non vertical climb ability and energy management, I think (esp as I am a glider pilot) that having to manage energy only adds to the flying interest. Sometimes when I look at v powerful planes I'm left thinking this is a rocket with optional wings: it doesn't so much fly manoeuvres as power through them. So I think the energy management challenge is something to embrace and enjoy with this model. And a flight time of 4 mins for power on stuff, and rather more for energy management focused stuff, is pretty good I reckon. Great review as ever Adam. I'm tempted 👍😉 p.s. skipped the build section but if it has twin elevator servos then one would do and the other could be rudders, to minimise weight penalty, also gear off would offset rudder addition weight so.....

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  3 месяца назад +1

      It is a great flyer for sure. I like managing energy as well, but not everyone does, so we make sure we cover stuff like that so people have realistic expectations. I like rudder on everything, but I get the idea of keeping this light and inexpensive. Simple was the goal. You need both elevator servos as they are full flying stabs.

    • @mikeonb4c
      @mikeonb4c 3 месяца назад +1

      @@ModelAV8RChannel I must revisit the video and study the built but unless the elevators are tailerons, the designer and experimenter would be tempted to try single servo elevator operation and reassign the other to rudder. Also, for gear off flying, there might be a skids solution that would protect the plane, protect the elevator leading edge in a no undercarriage flare, provide a grip for hand launching, and even improve knife edge flying (though with the limited power available that might be of limited use). The experimenter in me is starting to twitch. And you're absolutely right to flag up energy management - I'm just suggesting to any readers that energy management can add interest and useful learning. Great videos Adam, keep 'em coming 👍

  • @fredmdbud
    @fredmdbud 3 месяца назад +1

    I installed my steering arm “upside-down” (the pin facing upwards). That accommodates the plastic spacer. also easier to fix if the pin jumps the servo steering arm slot.

    Hi. Are the leads for the ESC on a Y connector that can be easily separated. If I can get differential thrust on this, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Lack of rudder on this smaller models is what's put me off.

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  3 месяца назад

      You read my mind Paul. Yes, absolutely you could...and the full flying stabs have their own servos, so you could separate them and have tailerons as well. It has built in y harnesses, so there is some cutting and soldering involved. This is all on my list at some point. I can't even imagine how capable it will be then.

    • @ModelAV8RChannel

      Nothing unless you have a steerable nose wheel...then the gain will correct that. Essentially, if there isn't anything plugged into that port on the RX...it doesn't matter what you do with that gain setting, it will affect nothing.
