Love that were seeing some other stuff besides eflite and fms! I wish more companies would work with the youtubers trying to promote this hobby. Thanks for the awesome review!
Twin EDF running on 4s is pretty sweet. Those F18s need to fly without gear in my book. If it's too small for retracts, it's a tosser all day. That said, I just got my 1st shipment of Spektrum's new "pro air" series 120c 4s 2900mAh packs today. Pretty compact LiPos. I'm stoked for this lousy weather to GTFO so I can take a few planes out and give 'em a whole can o' beans 😊 Cool little Hornet, tho. Can't say I've ever been impressed with the Nanner Hobby planes. But it looks like they're upping the game a bit. Might need to take another look at what they've got. Thanks Adam and Heidi 👍
I'm digging the series so far man, and I agree...other than the Twinliner, they are gear off for me as soon as the reviews are done! I've got to check out those packs. Have a blast flying brother! Yep, the Xfly stuff is pretty well done for sure.
Fab review, Adam! There's something so enticing about these, especially at the price point. Who wants or needs over complex models? Not everyone, for sure.
Keep chuckin' the nicely done reviews, Adam n Heidi. The scheme n decals look nice. Construction is on par. Fresh n new, jjust for you, is always fun. AirHammer out!!
I just purchased the F14 from x fly so this helps since I am new to x fly products. Their costs are so low I was sceptical about buying one. If the quality is equal to this one, I think it will be just fine.
We probably will. Right now we're working on reviews of the F-15 and Felon. My guess on the hand launching is that it is like the E-Flite twin 40mm F-14...wide and hard to get a grip on unless your hands are huge. We have a review of that, and we made a launch grip that solves the problem.
love the video i have the f22 twin 40 an love it fly that with no gyro what so ever. You talk about tuning AS3X in your videos not sure if you have done one but could you show us a video on your tuning procedure and the different effects of having to high gains vs to low and just right. keep up the good work love the channel
We actually have plans to do an episode showing how we tune a plane with the new AS3X+. We have a video with an interview with one of the developers of AS3X+. If you haven't seen it you may want to check it out.
Great review and good photography work. Question....which did you like better for just for fun flying the FMS F-16 or the XFly F-18 in this video. Thanks
Thanks man! That is a good question. I think I'd go for the F-18 because I like that it is a twin...and because I already have a 70mm F-16 to fly for fun and a 80mm when I want a scale experience.
They are both really good. The F-22 is a touch more capable because of the added elevator throw possibilities. We just flew both the F-15 and Felon...man they are all great. If one of them is your favorite jet, just get that one and I'd bet you'll have a blast with it.
Hey guys, thanks for another great review. Could you point me to some info about the ‘SAFE launch assist mix’. I’d love some help working out how to get that programmed in. Thanks again! :)
Thanks for the kind words Sam. You actually don't have to program it. Once you bind to have SAFE or activate it, the launch mode is there. It is automatic. When you first plug up and the RX initializes...when you hand launch in SAFE it recognizes the lateral G forces of the launch and adds some up elevator. It leaves that input in until you flip the switch into AS3X. Once you do that the next time you flip into SAFE it is normal SAFE mode.
Lovely model and obviously 10x better without the wheels! I don't fly Spektrum so what exactly is your mix doing? A tad of up elevator at full throttle? On a switch?
Great review as always Adam. XFly makes some beautiful foam aircraft. I have a few of their planes and really enjoy them. I would love to see more retracts in these smaller Twin-EDF park jets. I have the XFly Twinliner 40mm that i put my own retracts. There were some old GWS retracts that. I modified it to work. What is cool about XFly is they sell the Twinliner with just a white base and no livery so that you can modify it and do your own thing to it. Have you reviewed the Twinliner? Thanks for listening to my Rambles, lol.
Ha Ha! No sweat...ramble my friend. I love these 40mm models, but simplicity is the point of them really. More features just adds more weight/cost that doesn't make sense from an investment perspective at this size. We did a review on the Twinliner...love it!
Love the xfly line up. They are all good. They have the f15 in a oregon national guard livery as well. Looks just like the arrows twin 64. Can I buy that one through your link even though you didn't review it. Thanks adam.
So what's the key to landing one of these or the e-flite F-14 for example? I'm still learning and to me, it seems when I come in at what I consider a good landing speed, it stalls. So I come in hot and it just aint pretty. Any tips? Working on a simulator too but their jets don't drop like a brick like mine.
They are all different. The F-14 requires a controlled approach. You have to keep power in a bit longer. This F-18 you can cut the power much sooner. It's just a matter of a proper flare in ground effect. If you're stalling and dropping it in then you're completing the flare too high.
I like the jet, but I wish these companies would start making Super Hornet molds instead of the F-18c molds. It adds more lifting area, making it fly better
There's more area there already. While the twin 40mm makes it possible to streamline the mid section, none of these models are exact outline. Because of the low Reynolds number of models, very few can be made exact scale as far as outline. It just doesn't translate to a good flying model, so to make them fly better as models embellishments are made. More forgiving airfoils, 5% to 10% larger wingspan, tail, etc. That is a pretty common practice with every model company.
Why do these smaller jets not have a rudder? It’s so annoying because they would be so much better if they did. I would totally buy that instantly if it just had a rudder.
They are keeping weight and cost down. Simple jets that perform well at a low price is the goal. Same reason they don't have flaps, retracts, etc. The other thing is the smaller the fan, the harder it is to produce thrust. These twin 40mm need to be as light as possible, and still require some energy management. As they get larger - 70mm and above ...making enough thrust to carry the extra weight of all the goodies is easier, and you can charge enough for a larger model to cover the extra costs of designing in and tooling for more features. Tooling is the making of the mold...the most expensive part of any new models production by far. It's more than you would think...by a lot. Any moving part you add...raises the cost of design in CAD and the actual tooling considerably. On a $300 to $600 70mm to 90mm that is not an issue. On a $170 hand tosser it is. Plus...many like simple and cheap, and many don't use the rudder on the ones that have them anyway. Something for everybody. Planes like this may not be your thing, and that is fair, but for many they are. I'm a 3D pilot...love rudder so I get it, but for what its worth...when I take these for what they are...I have a blast flying them.
Love that were seeing some other stuff besides eflite and fms! I wish more companies would work with the youtubers trying to promote this hobby. Thanks for the awesome review!
Thanks! Yep, variety is a nice part of the hobby.
Man like the rest of the lineup at this scale, those twin 40s sound amazing. And they have power for days!!
I like em' too!
Great review Adam and Heidi! Great tip on the elevator launch mix and interesting observation of the 30C battery. I want one! Scott
Thanks Scott! Great little Hornet!

Very nice review. The scale look is really attractive. And the flying provided a great little air show.
Thanks very much! A lot of detail in a small package for sure.
Wasn’t sure if I liked this jet but your review really sells it. Thx for your reviews!
Thanks very much. Great little Hornet.
Your expert piloting skills make avg plane pop.
Proper professional review.
Thanks very much!
Great flying Adam, love scale take offs. Looked like a nice size to have fun. 👍🏻
Thanks Chris! Great simple sized jets
@@ModelAV8RChannel Yup throw in the car and go have fun. 👍🏻
Fab review, Adam! There's something so enticing about these, especially at the price point. Who wants or needs over complex models? Not everyone, for sure.

Unreal show Ace!
Thanks Jono! Fun lil Hornet!
Looks fun , it will be on my long list of planes “needed” lol
Lol, it is! We all have a list...
Adam good review and great flying there coming out with so many new planes, hard to choose any more lol 😊😊😊
Thanks Frank! Lol...I know right!
looks pretty stable...nice flights ! ...
Thanks man!
Love the quality of X-Fly. Very nice model Adam. As always, well presented , filmed & flown guys. Is it Hurricane proof?😂
Yep Noel they are pretty trick, but no...not hurricane proof! Lol. Thanks man!
XFly do a great job with these small EDF aircraft...
They really do Martyn. I'm enjoying the series!

I hope you do a review of the new XFly F-14 Tomcat that just came out! I hear it's not a good hand launcher 🤔

@@ModelAV8RChannel Ok thanks for answering. I should have said 64 mm FMS F-16 .
I know you meant the 64mm F-16. Since I have the 70mm I'd never choose the 64mm over it to take to the field.
Sweet review. I love these twin edf”s I’m torn between the XFly f-22 and this f-18… any thoughts on ease of flying and wide envelope flying,,

It is, the Blues version looks good too. Yes, simple launch mix. That's what we did years ago before gyros would do it for us, lol.
I use 11% up elevator to throttle mix on a switch for the hand tossing. Jeff in LA USA
Thanks Again Adam.

Miss your brother.😂🤣😎
Lol
Hi Adam, great review? Comparing this with the FMS F16 64mm which one is an easier jet to fly? I'm a beginner getting onto this hobby. Thanks!😊
They are about the same, but neither one is a good trainer for a beginner in the hobby. Check out the AeroScout.

I'm with you Jay, this twin 40mm series is a blast. Yes sir, you can navigate to it through that link. I think we'll be reviewing that and the Felon.
Are those hand launches with SAFE on or just some up elevator and full power?
SAFE with this one, we used a throttle to elevator mix with the F-15. Both work great
So what's the key to landing one of these or the e-flite F-14 for example? I'm still learning and to me, it seems when I come in at what I consider a good landing speed, it stalls. Will we see another carrier landing video with an f-18?
Hmm...
Adam great review and flying. I bet some are flying with tail tailerons Jeff in LA USA
Thanks Jeff!
How would you say this xfly F-18 compares to the xfly F-22?
Both are great flying little jets. They both look and fly the part of what they are. The F-22 will turn on a dime and is almost impossible to stall.
Gear comes off!? I could own that but its a down the road plaine for me.
I like the jet, but I wish these companies would start making Super Hornet molds instead of the F-18c molds. It adds more lifting area, making it fly better
