  • Our Whirlpool Washing Machine was making a loud grinding sound and rather than replacing the entire washer or hiring someone to fix it, I easily repaired it myself. In this case, the issue was the Agitator Washplate (thanks to a friends recommendation). To find the right washplate replacement part, I simply opened up my washer door and in the right upper corner found the model number of my washer. I then searched that model number with the words washplate and Whirlpool on Amazon. Here's a link (make sure you modify your search with your model number):

I can't seem to get that bolt out of there. I've been pounding on the bolt for two days now. Anybody have any ideas? I sure don't want to call a repairman just to loosen a bolt for me.

Lefty loosey, righty tighty? 🤣🤣 Sorry couldn't help myself. Had the same issue, ended up needing a pipe on the end of my socket wrench for leverage, and a little WD-40.

Easy to repair if you can get the washplate off.

I doubt you removed the wash plate without a fight. Usually it requires a lot of work to get a wash plate off.

I would have gotten a older bolt with the rubber washer and put that one into the washer to prevent the corrosion…
