RIPP makes a supercharger for the pentastar V6'. In a minivan it might be a tight fit but you would net at least 100 HP and torque. In most applications it's pretty easy on the drivetrain because it has a gradual power delivery. It also has no turbo lag.
I’m more interested to see the Pacifica in this race. Especially with the 9 speed auto, being more aerodynamic than the Grand Caravan, and slight power upgrade. My grandmother had a 2014 T&C limited and I never liked the gearing in that 6 speed, luckily she now has a 21 Pacifica Limited and it feels more alive.

Yeah you’re right, Honda’s have always loved to rev and do great up at the top of the rev range. We were both surprised that the Odyssey took the win here! Fun race 😊
I have a 2008 Honda Odyssey and it really comes down to how you drive it. Hopefully we'll be able to get our hands on more Honda's running the J35 as time passes!
In this case I doubt both manufacturers are gearing their passenger minivans for racing 😂 they’re likely both geared for efficiency. The Odyssey runs away in the higher speeds, we got up to around 120km in the 1/4 and that’s when the Honda began pulling more. We also did a rolling race off camera and had the same result. Bottom line, the Dodge falls on its face after 4th gear
So, the real question for the sake of longevity is which motor took the bigger beating? Which one could be abused like that daily and live longer because that's the van I want.
If you’re looking for longevity then it’s the Honda you want. Change the oil on time, drain and fill the trans fluid every 50,000kms, stay on top of regular service and it’ll go for a long time. The Odyssey in this video now has 280,000kms and is doing great.
@@fealiks honestly that pentastar engine has a TON of power, no question it’s got more torque than the Honda. It’s literally just gearing which is pretty crazy!
@@fealiks yeah you’re right, they are good overall. There’s been some issues with the 5 speed paired to the V6 engine over the years. But I also found that most times, the vehicle owner never changed the fluid as well… so it’s hard to say if that was a maintenance issue or an actual transmission issue in those cases… The Odyssey in this video has almost 270,000kms now and has been great so I’m very happy about that!
We typically stick to just stock, daily-driver type vehicles, it’s what 95% of us drive and we enjoy the series :) as things progress, we might look into how a tune/mods can impact 1/4 mile time though
Happy for you :) We don’t have any bias on our channel. We just line the vehicles up and race them. In this case the Odyssey slightly edged out the Caravan. Keep in mind, these vans are much older than yours. Yours would be better suited for a race against the newer Odyssey’s with either the 9 or 10 speed transmissions. Plus, Honda increased the power of the Odyssey in 2019 as well. So I’m sure your van beats older Odysseys quite easily, but it would be interesting to see how it does with a 2019+ We’re actively trying to find newer vans and get them out to the track. Would be fun to film some races with them

Yessmaam. Your right. My mom has a 2012 crew and traction control off spins quite a bit. Not to mention that after 65 to 70 mph she’s a dog and barely holds its own and struggles to stay at 115mph. Kind of ironic as it’s red… just like Clifford the dog.
They sure do have a lot of power off the line! But yes, we were both very surprised to see the Odyssey come back and take the win! The Clifford comment is funny haha
I wish they'd have kept the 4.0 around. I have a 2010 Chrysler T&C with a 4.0 and that same 6spd auto. I like it so much better than the 3.6 I know it technically makes less power, but the torque seems more usuable for regular driving.
Yeah that makes total sense. It’s definitely the “useable” power that you notice more on a day to day driving basis for sure. Honestly though if Dodge had sorted the gearing out a little better, the Caravan would have easily won this race. It did really well in gears 1,2 and 3, but when it got to 4th it just fell flat. If 4th was a shorter gear it would have stayed in the power band and kept pulling. I’m really curious to see these new vans now with the 9 and 10 speeds
Wow that’s cool! I know Miranda was really happy that the cup holders were big enough to fit that Yeti in them 🤣😂 Not many cup holders in cars are big enough
From what we've researched, the GT was made beginning in 2018 and it had the exact same 3.6L V6 engine (and same 6 speed transmission) as the Caravan that we raced in this video... So the results would likely be very similar. www.edmunds.com/dodge/grand-caravan/2018/st-401728504/features-specs/ We were both really surprised that the Odyssey won as well - which is why we've been enjoying our Drag Racing series so much - on paper specs can tell a totally different story when the rubber meets the road :)

(Josh) As much as I'd love to think that the Odyssey could take one of those, I think it would get demolished 😂 But hey, if we can make it happen, we will!
Yeah definitely agreed! We think that gearing really played into this as well - when that Caravan shifted into 4th gear it slowed right down, and the Odyssey was just getting into its powerband in 3rd at that same time, which enabled it to just fight back and take the win. That said though you're bang on; Honda always did make engines with a great top end!
@@JustinDaniels Haha yep, we know all about it, don’t you worry! What we were saying here was that the gearing of the vehicles really played into the result of the race. VTEC definitely helped the Odyssey in the top end but the 4th gear of the Caravan has a really strange ratio, and it slows right down as soon as it shifts into 4th, which allowed the Odyssey to come back and win. Had that 4th gear been a bit shorter in the Caravan, unfortunately the Odyssey wouldn’t have stood a chance. A really interesting race (or races) that we want to try and line up would be some of those new vans, the Pacifica, Sienna, Odyssey. They all have close to 300hp and 9 or 10 speed transmissions. Would be interesting to see how that engine does for sure, it’s bigger in displacement but puts out significantly less power than the 3.6 engine used in the newer vans. Thanks for your comment!
Replied to your other comment. We don’t have bias on the channel. We just line the vehicles up and race them. The Caravan was much faster when looking at 0-100km/h but its 4th gear is dreadfully slow, which allowed the Odyssey to just come back and edge out the Caravan for the 1/4 mile. How many Odyssey’s have you raced on a proper drag strip in the 1/4 mile? Or are we just talking quick races from a red light? There’s a big difference in those two types of races
Make sure to watch the whole video :) :) The Odyssey ends up taking the win in the end. The first race, both vehicles had their traction control on. When we turned the TC off in the Odyssey, it took the win no matter what. We were really surprised. That said, the new Pacifica and Odyssey would be a fantastic race, we're gonna try and line it up - thanks for your suggestion!
Thanks for your comment - we think this matchup was a pretty good one :) Both vans are only one generation older than what is currently on the market now, so actually it's a very comparable matchup, despite there being 5 years between the two vans that we raced today. For example, a 2016 Honda Odyssey is the exact same generation as the 2011 that we used in this race. So even if we had a 2016 Odyssey, there were only minor changes that were made to the van when compared to the 2011 that you saw in the video. So regarding a 2022 Odyssey, a great match for that would likely be a 2022 Chrysler Pacifica (or any 2022 van as they've all been redone), as both models have been redesigned from the ground up. Cheers!
@@ridinglacs 😂😂 Fair enough :) We try to line up vehicles that are similar on paper to make for good races. The newer vans have quite a bit more power than the ones in this video. @@truckingforsuccess3113 I thought so at first too, but nope. Caravan falls on its face in 4th gear and that was just enough for the Odyssey to catch up
@@nikcom1691 you do realize the Odyssey’s 2018 and up came with 280hp as well, right? And the Caravan’s only had 6 speed transmissions compared to the Odyssey’s 9 or 10 depending on the model. Keeps the engine in the power band far better than 6 gears. I think you might be talking a bigger game than you realize. A lot changed in 2018 for the Odyssey. I think one of those would spank a Caravan. Unless we’re comparing brand new 2024 (Pacifica) to 2024 Odyssey, in which case the Chrysler now has a more up to date 9 speed tranny too. @@nikcom1691 oh for sure, the caravan has always had a strong engine. And they have always been very competitively priced too. I think a 2024 Pacifica vs 2024 Odyssey would be a really fun race to see
That tips adding some serious clout!! Odyssey all the way! That's gotta be the closest finish yet! Clearly the Dodge is cheating with the rust weight savings on the tailgate!!
We were both PUMPED that the Odyssey took the Win! One reason is because we both like Honda, the other because it was a serious underdog coming into the race. The Caravan had bigger numbers in every category, more Horsepower, Torque and better power to weight and yet somehow that Odyssey took the race. Huge surprise to both of us but that's what these races are all about!!
I’m gonna say the dodge caravan usually wins. Trust me. I’ve done it against a Honda Odyssey, and this lady is not pressing the gas like she supposed to.
Upload a video racing the two in a quarter mile and then we'll trust you :) We have the video footage to show what happened in this race. Both of us had our left foot hard down on the gas the entire time. We're not a biased channel. We just line up the vehicles and race.
We’re gonna try and line up a 5 speed and a 6 speed Odyssey this summer :) the 5 speed seems to do really well towards the end of the 1/4 mile (as we saw in this race) but it’ll be interesting to see if it can come back enough to win against the 6 speed transmission
@@KingdomAuto sweat! I believe the 5spd pulls more at high rpms because it has more torque and power than the 6spd if am not mistaken so since the gear ratios are longer on the 5spd, they probably wanted to compensate for that so it doesn't feel too long for the engine to reach max rev
@@redtail1. yeah it’ll be really interesting to see what happens! We have a 2011 and a 2014 Odyssey ready to go. Both have the same engine and same power output, only difference is 5 speed vs 6 speed transmission so we’re really curious to which van wins :) The 2011 (5 speed) is mine so I really hope it wins 😂😂
Thanks for your comment! We have a couple Sienna's in the works for next season so if we can make it happen, we will! That said though, up until 2016, the Sienna's 3.5L engine only made 18 more HP and actually 5 ft-lbs LESS torque than the Odyssey, and it weights almost exactly the same as the Odyssey as well. So on paper, it's actually a VERY even race (one that we're trying to line up)! From 2017 and on, Toyota really bumped up the HP to somewhere in the 290's and similarly increased the TQ as well. However, all other manufactures shortly followed suit, with all vans now making close to 300HP and 270TQ. What we're getting at, is that all of the older generation vans are extremely close on paper when it comes to power to weight, and all of the newer vans (2020 and up) have all been redesigned with more power, and they also are all very close on paper as well! Either way, we're going to be trying to race some more older gen. vans and also the new ones too so stay tuned :)
@@letsgobrandon5800 Yeah that makes total sense because in 2017, Toyota REALLY cranked up the power of the Sienna, so it's understandable that the Sienna was faster than your older Odyssey when comparing those years for sure. A fair comparison would be a 2016 (or older) Sienna Vs either of the two vans in the video because they all had similar power numbers. And then a couple other good races would be a 2017 or newer Sienna Vs. the redesigned Odyssey or Chrysler Pacifica because both of those models have also had their engines tuned up to make more power :)
I noticed the caravan is flex fuel....try racing him with flex fuel ...the caravan woulda won...i guarantee u...plus the caravan has more wheel spin...the odyseey grips tires from the line
We try to make the comparisons as even as possible, so giving the Caravan a higher ethanol content (which is what flex fuel is; just a way to tune the engine for performance based on ethanol content) would have given an advantage to the Caravan. Additionally, we raced the Odyssey with a different wheel/tire combo (proof in one of our other videos) and even with the wheel spin the Odyssey won so that didn’t make a difference at all. Bottom line, in an “apples to apples” with comparison with regular street gas, the Odyssey was faster in this race
@@SteveContreras-m1h the Odyssey wins that. As you can see in the video, the Caravan slows down in the top end and that’s when the Honda catches up. Odyssey takes the roller as well. Odyssey: ruclips.net/video/mPFFth0mObQ/видео.htmlsi=ouVbBeq6p0ieHjmA So we didn’t have time to film the roller between the vans but we did run it and the Honda wins
Downshift at redline? That doesn’t seem like a great idea. The Caravan lost because of its 4th gear. Falls flat on its face because of the gear ratio, very odd gearing. Give it a shorter 4th and it wins every time against the Honda

Drive that grand caravan in slap shift and you’ll get WAYYYY better performance trust me
We tried that, it still falls flat on its face in 4th gear and that’s when the Odyssey would come back and take the win
@@KingdomAuto okay yeah now that you point it out it makes sense, she does struggle in 4th😂
@@fealiks honestly that pentastar engine has a TON of power, no question it’s got more torque than the Honda. It’s literally just gearing which is pretty crazy!
@@KingdomAuto yeah, Honda is just unbeatable in that department
@@fealiks yeah you’re right, they are good overall. There’s been some issues with the 5 speed paired to the V6 engine over the years. But I also found that most times, the vehicle owner never changed the fluid as well… so it’s hard to say if that was a maintenance issue or an actual transmission issue in those cases…
The Odyssey in this video has almost 270,000kms now and has been great so I’m very happy about that!
You need a good air system to open that v6 up
We typically stick to just stock, daily-driver type vehicles, it’s what 95% of us drive and we enjoy the series :) as things progress, we might look into how a tune/mods can impact 1/4 mile time though
That's a bunch of VSI have the same Van 2019 GT and it was smoking Odyssey anyday
Happy for you :)
We don’t have any bias on our channel.
So I’m sure your van beats older Odysseys quite easily, but it would be interesting to see how it does with a 2019+
We’re actively trying to find newer vans and get them out to the track. Would be fun to film some races with them

Much appreciated! Yeah absolutely you contributed, every sub/like/share means a ton to us :)
Lots more content coming so hope you continue to enjoy, thanks again!
On the Dodge you can hold the gear changes back by using the Dodges gear selector like a panel shifter
Nice, that could help with a rolling race for sure. The Odyssey could also do the same if using low range, and then “shifting” up into drive.
Yessmaam.
The Clifford comment is funny haha
pleaseeee race the odyssey more
Will do!! We're going to try and get a Sienna out for next season as well :)
Dodge caravan 4.0 v6 VS dodge caravan 3.6 v6
For sure, those 4.0 Caravans are pretty uncommon around here but if we can get our hands on one we’ll make it happen :)

Wow that’s cool! I know Miranda was really happy that the cup holders were big enough to fit that Yeti in them 🤣😂
Not many cup holders in cars are big enough
How do you like your dodge?
The dodge caravan GT would smoke that Honda
From what we've researched, the GT was made beginning in 2018 and it had the exact same 3.6L V6 engine (and same 6 speed transmission) as the Caravan that we raced in this video... So the results would likely be very similar.

Factory Challenger,Charger,Camaro vs the formidable Odyssey
(Josh) As much as I'd love to think that the Odyssey could take one of those, I think it would get demolished 😂 But hey, if we can make it happen, we will!
honda always does high rpm top end good for the size engines they use
Yeah definitely agreed! We think that gearing really played into this as well - when that Caravan shifted into 4th gear it slowed right down, and the Odyssey was just getting into its powerband in 3rd at that same time, which enabled it to just fight back and take the win. That said though you're bang on; Honda always did make engines with a great top end!
@@KingdomAuto It's called VTEC
Would be fun to see how they do as well!
Let that i-vtec kick in yo
For sure! 💪🏻💪🏻 surprised it was able to come back and win :) fun race!

Crazy right? We thought the same thing.
Unfortunately there’s no way to hold it in 3rd any longer, only gears 1 and 2 have that option using low range
@@KingdomAuto You guys should get an HP Tuner device and tune a 2011-2014 Caravan for 92-94 octane, also you can tune the shift points in the transmission with the same device!

Dodge grand caravan 3.8L 2006 sxt vs honda
Would be interesting to see how that engine does for sure, it’s bigger in displacement but puts out significantly less power than the 3.6 engine used in the newer vans. Thanks for your comment!
😂 good runs wow!!
Those vans can get up and go 😂
I have the same Van but a 2019 and I can tell you an Odyssey will not keep up with it
Replied to your other comment.
Do Chrysler Town and country vs Dodge Grand caravan
Aren’t those exactly the same vans?
9at Pacifica vs 10at Odyssey 👀
#Hondagang though but the hp difference and the extra gear showed to be more effective here
Make sure to watch the whole video :) :) The Odyssey ends up taking the win in the end. The first race, both vehicles had their traction control on. When we turned the TC off in the Odyssey, it took the win no matter what. We were really surprised.
That said, the new Pacifica and Odyssey would be a fantastic race, we're gonna try and line it up - thanks for your suggestion!
Should have races a 2022 odyssey with that age difference
Cheers!
Cool reply I disagree
@@ridinglacs 😂😂 Fair enough :) We try to line up vehicles that are similar on paper to make for good races. The newer vans have quite a bit more power than the ones in this video. @@KingdomAuto anytime, 280hp should take care of Honda Odyssey
But 2020 Vs 2020, don’t think your dodge stands much of a chance

@@nikcom1691 oh for sure, the caravan has always had a strong engine. And they have always been very competitively priced too.
But yeah Honda increased the power and torque in the Odyssey quite a bit in 2018, they’re way faster than the last generation models.

3.5 VTEC baby 💨💨💨🏌️🏌️💯💯
Yeah the Odyssey did a great job fighting its way back for the win!!
Should’ve had the 3.5 liter Sienna. It would smoke both of them.
@@KingdomAuto I had an 18 SE Sienna and it was by far quicker than my old Odyssey. Race em, you’ll see the Sienna is a rocket.
Brake torque please
We tried one race off camera brake torquing, didn't change the result. In most of our newer videos, we've been including those races
The Dodge had better take off but looses it on top end.
Yep that’s exactly what happened, much to our surprise
Why didn't u guys do a roll race ....that would of been better .....
@@SteveContreras-m1h the Odyssey wins that. As you can see in the video, the Caravan slows down in the top end and that’s when the Honda catches up. Odyssey takes the roller as well.
