    FYI: I mentioned Womfat's (Matthew) Vudoo Three 60 in my opening remarks and tried to insert a RUclips 'card' with a link to his video and noticed it is very inconsistent. This is his video overview of his custom Vudoo Three 60 - ruclips.net/video/uR6dQeMgaZs/видео.html

    I had a similar experience with DI Precision. I ended up going with David's recommendation: 25 inch MullerWorks 1.25 straight (1:13) with EC V2. Working with David was great and the rifle is an absolute hammer. I could not be more pleased with build - highly recommend DI Precision to others looking for a custom build.

    Hey Johnathan, looking at the ftf case. I paused and looked at the case rim. From expirence, if the case rim is bent over, headspace is exceeding .045". FTF issues I have seen in these Vudoo's are due to tennon length and headspace fitment. Need that rim solid on the barrel for the firing pin to do its job else its like punching paper

I smiled when you commented about the bolt jump when you pull the trigger because I was watching that precisely through your vid. It does jump, not a lot but with every shot. I question just how much difference that makes in accuracy. I have seen no jump and some jump up to 1/4" at the handle but I see no variance in accuracy. What is your thought on that?

    I have a Mullerworks 25in 15 twist on a Gen ii Vudoo action. Super accurate with Lapua and Eley, although will not shoot eley consistently with around 2 ftfs out of every 10. Even with the Ace barrel and chambering. Doesn't matter the lot number, just won't do it despite heavier firing pin spring and head spaced correctly. With Lapua ammo never had an issue and thats what I have gone with. Gun was chambered by Servos Custom Firearms in Alabama. Ive been blessed with a lot of wins with this combination. Nice rifle and good luck to you. P.S. Are you going to be at Nationals this year?

      @@ocabj The Kestrel vane "knob" piece threads onto a standard 1/4x20 (or whatever the camera standard is), which is why I use the collapsible selfie stick. I added a rubber plug piece with a threaded insert that fits snugly in the Kestrel round (horizontal) hole. A piece of allthread into the threaded insert goes about 2" into a piece of plastic cardboard. As a counterweight, I added some (currently inelegant) fishing weights to the vertical hole. The counterweight works really well, but could look cleaner.
      I like the wind vane you're using, but I know it would fall off and smack me in the head as I move my tripod from stage to stage.

    Where is all this info that a 13 twist is better at what yardage? You dont have high VLD bullets there. Over spinning a bullet wont get you better accuracy.

    • @ocabj
      @ocabj  Год назад

      If you follow rimfire the past couple years, there has been a lot more experimenting with 22LR beyond 100 yards. People have found that faster twist rates are having better results at 100-200 yards. I cannot remember what podcast it was, but there was one with Vudoo as a guest and they specifically stated there were showing 1:9" or 1:10" (note: I could be mistaken on the twist rate, but it was something significantly faster than 1:16") twist having better results at distance, however sacrificing a little at 50 yards. 1:12" twist has become popular in Canada which shoots a lot of PRS Rimfire, which stretches out to 200-300 yards.
      I agree that overspinning a bullet won't get better accuracy. However, the issue at-hand is what is overspinning a bullet, especially in the case of .22LR?
      If you need a definitive paper on the use of faster twist rates with 22LR for modern rimfire ammo, I don't know of one. Right now, we're all going off of people who are pioneering by doing and using faster twist rates.
      When I was at the Lapua Rimfire Performance Center in Mesa back in 2021, the rep told me they were investigating how to setup 200 meter testing. When this happens, it will likely allow for some better data collection without external factors (e.g. wind) to test and compare rifle variables like twist rate.

      @@ocabj I remember those Vudoo 1:9T comments. I bought a 1:9T Lilja for a CZ 455/457 based on that potential trend. It was accurate, but the spin drift was awful. 0.3 mils right at 100, 0.6 at 200, 0.9 at 300. I decided it wasn't worth it (for the 1:9, anyway).
