    I’ve been absolutely suffering with this for over a year now and I feel like no doctor will help me at all. I literally can’t sleep at night. Your advice has honestly been extremely helpful for me, thank you!

      take magnesium glycinate with vitamin D3 and L- theanine It really helps! I been dealing with it for over a year as well. Best to take it at night around 8pm so you can sleep! also try not to eat anything heavy before bed. The muscle is inflammed and needs to relax. You might want to change eating habits as well and take warm epson salt baths. it will be an adjustment. I'm just being real with ya. Everyones different however as we get older our bodies need supplement's and we must change our lifestyles. hope this was helpful.

      You are absolutely correct. I'm 3 days in from getting this and just tried to do some simple pushups and this shit has to go! I need a cure because no way I'm going to just sit around and not be active and it's so hard to breath deep😢

      @@opticmusprime808 mine went away after focusing on trying to reduce the amount of stress on my ribs through-ought the day. Ever since it’s gone away I’ve been afraid of working out because I don’t want it to come back. I suggest taking it easy and take 400-600mg of ibuprofen everyday for a week and see how you feel.

      Yeah I know guys, it’s scary. First few months I was sure it was heart problems. Two years later, even though I know it can’t be, I still get scared that it’s heart related 😅 but it’s clearly muscular, I can feel it when I push hard on the area.

    I'm in physical therapy for balance issues. I had a flare up after a session and when I told the PT they had never heard of this. Even cancer want this bad.

    I think it's much more effective to roll your entire chest out, horizontally, and vertically by doing the toe touch motion, bending up and down.

    Does costochondritis extend to the traps on the upper back? I feel it mostly on both sides with the ribs close to the chest & in the middle but i also feel it heavy in the traps is this normal for costochondritis?? I've had this ongoing pain for 6 months now.. thank you

    Actually my left side of lower ribs is flating out also is it costochondritis but my xrays ecg and pft blood test are normal

    i developed this from doing dips, how long should i avoid dips for? what are some better exercises besides stretching?

      @@yjiro-zf4dm this was quite a while ago lol. I've recovered from this already. I just gave myself a 2 week break from dips and afterwards tried to focus more on my form. I used lighter weights focusing on an 8 second eccentric. This has strengthened up my tendons and joints so now im back to heavy weighted dips!

      nah brother, I’ve stopped all chest workouts including dips. I’ve been using the backpod for about a month but I’ve seen minimal results. Any tips are beyond appreciated@@Aaronatorz

    Hi Dr. Kulla, can this be done if one has a rotator cuff issue, with a flat back/loss of lumbar lordosis as well?

      We’ve done videos on that. Serratus anterior strengthening is paramount for you to gain that curve in your upper back. Low back flattening is a usually die to tight hamstrings

      @Synergywellnessny Yes. I am doing all of that also. I will check out more videos on that as well. Just happened to think my flat back also affects my rib, and I do have fibromyalgia and costochondritis, so I thought of adding specific stretches for the same. The stretch feels amazing - similar to what I feel when my PT does in manual therapy.

    Cause of this pain is restriction in the nasal blockage or deviated septem...and gets worst at night when the chest works harder to breathe and hurts the xiphod....muscles are tight all day from being tense ....I'm learning this myself...go see a ENT everyone

    Hi Dr, please let me know if this exercise is advisable for severe pain on right side of the breast area and under the breast area. I have extreme pain while coughing and sneezing too.

      Great question-- I would lay off any chest workouts and focus on strengthening the back, upper back, serratus anterior and stretching the pecs. Check out our playlist - first 2 videos are all stretches and exc.

    Can it resemble gallbladder pain? The pain Under your right breast... That hurts when i sneeze or cough and ive had a cough for almost a month and a half... The pain started a few days ago... When i breathe in deeply it hurts. The pain has not receded since it began... People keep telling me that its gallstones... And i dont know the difference...

    Hey man thank you for the tips, I have been suffering for more year now with swelling at the center of my ribcage. I just got diagnosed with tietze syndrome, shockingly on both sides (left and right).
    Everyday and everynight (can't sleep on sides or front). Should I be using the exact same exercices that are mean for costocondritis ?
    I have swelling at both sides and now starting to feel it a higher place, almost like the first or second rib from topside.

      @@greekgod9554 no slipping rib is in the lower rib cage/chest when the rib moves more than normal.
      Tietze syndrome is in the upper middle of the chest, where the joints meet.

    Hi! I’ve had this for months and it’s driving me crazy, I’ve had cat scans and a bunch of heart tests and drs have ruled out any heart or lung conditions…my question is, can you also get this on the outer part of your ribs? I’m having it on the side of my ribs bad now too, under the arm, along with the usual chest pain 😩
    I’m out on Long Island but I swear I’m ready to come to NYC just to get this fixed lol it’s so frustrating and painful

      Get a deep tissue really deep so deep it hurts tissue massage in the back on the side where it hurts, also get a chiropractor to crack your back

      I've suffered for it for 20 years the best thing you can do is theracic rotations I used get a bar so I can force it or do them on the floor and use my sofa for leverage. These doctors just don't know what there on about.

      @@ferdossi I've still not got rid of it 100% but I think it might be nerve trapped or some type of ligment damage. I'm heavy lifter so I think more technique been poor and I've messed up badly. Shockwave therapy will help but it will feal wroser for abit. So I noticed pain on my left side I was rotating to the left alot would get a pop and pain relief but come back there's stretch you can do on RUclips for the nerve so I've done that much better. Look on RUclips theraic rotation exercise see what happens then do theraic nerve stretch.

      It could be aggravating Costochondritis. Try stretching the pec minor instead and strengthening the serratus and back muscles

      Yes, Dips with bad form do cause costochondritis.

    Hi i have this for about a month now and it’s just keeps getting worse and worse I been in a out of the hospital 4 times now I’m hurting so bad in my chest having left arm pain trouble breathing my chest is tender to the toutch I’m sick to my stomach I fell like somone is sitting on my chest they have gave me antibiotics done good while I was on it took it all and got worse after I finished the medication they gave me some steroid medication but seems like it not helping me ethier they put me on a heart monitor for a week they said my chest was inflamed last time I went this time they done chest X-ray ekg and echo gram and blood work and they said they don’t see anything I see a heart doctor he was wanting me to get a nucular stress test
    But I was scared and only do a regular stress test they said for my age my heart rates goes faster then it should for my age I’m 23
    Should I have the nuclear stress test done even while I’m sick and hurting like I am or should I wait for this to go away I need help pls I just wanna fell better

      I have costo since 5 months and this middle chest bone pain is only getting worse, getting palpitations as well, I can hear my chest bone 🦴 cracking everytime I tilt sleep or bend.

    I hate that man I got it t 4 weeks ago in wrestling I had a rotation on my upper body against Resistence then i heard a crack the pain is on the left side down like under the diaphragma after weeks of not training combat sport only fitness I had yesterday again training and I felt normal again the pain was a 2/10 but then again I was on my back an rotated my upper body with tension on and it crack again 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ today i was in the gym and I want to now what movement it gonna stress it out so I grap a medicine ball and squeeze it and rotate my upper buddy a little bit and this was hurting and I heart again a little crack doc do you have any advice how this gonna heal better I try ice and hot therapy and iboprofen

      I had Costochondritis for around 10 months, take it easy as much as you can. I understand your frustration completely because I had to stop going to the gym. I was taking anti inflammatory tablets regularly, light stretches and exercises. It will go eventually and keep a positive mindset. I'm back at the gym now but being extra careful, your time will come my friend. Don't let this beat you.

      The cracking and popping will be the inflammation, my sternum would crack and pop everytime I sneezed. May you find peace on your journey. My heart goes out to everybody suffering with Costochondritis.
