I think it's certainly a great classic of its kind, unquestionably, even amongst Western classic costume dramas my feeling is that it ranks very highly. King Lear, Macbeth, Richard III, Hamlet, it has many tropes of classic drama. And the music is superb accompaniment. I keep coming back to The Untamed and finding something new each time. It has flaws, what doesn't, but somehow even the flaws make the rest of The Untamed appear extraordinary by contrast.
