    Console at first seemed a bit clunky, overwhelming, and unnecessary. But I have been using it for some time and really wrapped my head around it. I've developed a workflow that works best for me and hope to help other musicians out there get the most out of it.
    The main thing that's a bummer is having an extra window open that you have to constantly monitor and flip back and forth. I think of console as almost being like a mixing board that is sitting in front of me.
    In this video I take you through all the most important features, buttons, and settings that you need to know about in order to get started making music. As well as some common pitfalls and tricks help reduce clutter. At the end of the day, it should help make your music sound better and easier to create.

    Hey, I'm having problems because for some reason the my recordings are being recorded very low, everything I have is pretty much new, Apollo 6x, Newmann U87, even the cables, so I don't understand why is it recording that low, to the point that it shows an almost flat line in logic...

    • @LucasMessore
      @LucasMessore  6 месяцев назад

      you can't use console with your laptop speakers since it's a controller for an audio interface. you have to connect speakers to the apollo.

      Thanks for the tip. Also, how would I take four different inputs from the Apollo x4 and assign them to 4 different tracks in logic at the same time?

  • @dkkrecords

    The routing side is always overlooked and is the most important and harder to understand component; particularly virtual inputs and outputs.

    Hi Lucas, thank you for this overview. I have had my struggles with Console for the past year and a half and I think you have cleared up a lot for me, one question, at 4:32 on the right side of the screen and to the left of Show/Aux/Ctrl Room, what is DIM Amount and does the Dim switch need to be engaged. Thank you Lee

    • @LucasMessore
      @LucasMessore  9 месяцев назад +1

      Hey Lee - the Dim button turns down your speakers if you engage the talkback mic. This is useful if you are recording an artist that is in another room and you want to talk to them using the built in talkback mic.
      Hope that helps!

    hey how do you add more tracks, or i have that double phase sound and i have no idea how to mute it because i cant find or load the track

    • @LucasMessore
      @LucasMessore  Год назад +1

      All good! Menu > View > Show/Hide Inputs. Also you can go to File > New and start a new session from scratch. Any tracks that you don't use you can right click by the name and Hide them. The doubled/phase sound is because you are monitoring BOTH in your DAW and Console so you have to use one or the other! It's confusing at first but really flexible once you wrap your head around it.

    Thank you Lucas! I am coming from the RME world. How do I change the volume of the Entire Cue Mix 1 from Console App and Mute the entire cue if required? Thank you :)

    • @LucasMessore
      @LucasMessore  2 месяца назад

      Thanks! Oh wow was curious about trying RME. You can control the level and mute of individual channels going into the cues. But to control the volume and mute of the entire cue mix - would be cool if it was a channel on the mixer but you can do that using Virtual Channels. Might be something to look into! I just have a headphone amp connected to my cue outs that the client can adjust the volume from there.

    • @sarinsahil
      @sarinsahil 2 месяца назад

      @@LucasMessore Thank you for your response! I highly recommend RME, check out Total Mix, It takes exactly an hour to understand and a world full of possibilities. I love the UAD Unison Preamps +UAD2 Plugins but miss the possibilities that RME brings with Total Mix. After a few days of research I figured for my purpose, I'd only use Apollo only to treat the front end of the signal on the way in and that's it. Get it out of UAD through ADAT and continue my journey with RME.

    • @sarinsahil
      @sarinsahil 2 месяца назад

      @@LucasMessore There is none. One can always Option Click and move all the faders but that's no good when the signal is also coming from a DAW bus to the CUE and not a Virtual Channel.
      I can highly recommend RME and TotalMix. I have been using it for more than 10 years and these are the most basic things in that world. UAD brings the best frontend with UAD 2 Plugins and Unison Pres but unfortunately is way behind on I/O & Routing. For my purpose, I will use 8 Unison Pre on x8p through ADAT and carry on my journey with RME. I highly recommend checking it out.

    Hi, I have the Apollo x6 and I would like to control the input signal for the analog input with the wheel as gain but this does not appear in the console for the analog track - I have the wheel for the stereo track 1/2?

    • @LucasMessore
      @LucasMessore  3 месяца назад +1

      Not sure if I understand correctly but if you want mono tracks for mic/line 1 and 2 just right click on the track in console and hit unlink. Or press the link button on the interface. If your channels do not appear for whatever other reason click menu -> view > show/hide inputs!

    Hey Lucas, I have another question if you wouldn't mind. I have the Apollo Twin X, and IN CONSOLE, I have Analog 1&2 designated for my L22 Mic, and I have Virtual 3/4 that I believe should be for my headphone volume. In the sends above Analog 1&2 and Virtual 3/4 I have faders for Aux 1&2, HP, and Line 3/4 I have been using Line 3/4 in both Analog and Virtual3/4, My question do I need to use both Line 3/4 in Analog 1&2 and Virtual 3/4? Thank you for your help and if you don't have time to respond I understand, I thank you for your time. Lee

    • @LucasMessore
      @LucasMessore  9 месяцев назад +1

      Hi Lee, I think there's a bit of confusion here. Virtual channels are not used for headphones. Your headphone jack on the physical apollo unit front panel controlled using the Cue 1/2. For basic recording purposes there is no need to be using any Line out or virtual inputs. Best regards

    This must be why the UA interface monitor meters are clipping, because both the Console and DAW have a mic input feeding each other and with both monitors on (UA and ProTools) it creates clipping in the interface. Is it true I have to monitor only from one? If I do it from ProTools do I need to mute monitoring on the UA interface?

    • @LucasMessore
      @LucasMessore  3 месяца назад +1

      Yes, you just monitor using one or the other. If you want lowest latency monitor in console. Pro tools has "Low Latency Monitoring Mode". Or if you need certain plugins just monitor in Pro Tools and mute console.

    • @AdrianChristian
      @AdrianChristian 3 месяца назад
