Here are the lyrics. I looked it up years ago. 😊
No one knows what it's like
      To be the bad man
      To be the sad man
      Behind blue eyes
No one knows what it's like
      To be hated
      To be fated
      To telling only lies
But my dreams, they aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be
      I have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance that's never free
No one knows what it's like
      To feel these feelings
      Like I do
      And I blame you
No one bites back as hard
      On their anger
None of my pain and woe
      Can show through
But my dreams, they aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be
      I have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance that's never free
      Mm, mm
When my fist clenches, crack it open
Before I use it and lose my cool
When I smile, tell me some bad news
Before I laugh and act like a fool
And if I swallow anything evil
Put your finger down my throat
And if I shiver, please give me a blanket
Keep me warm, let me wear your coat
No one knows what it's like

Another killer song by the Who, Keith Moon really did add a lot to these songs. When viewed by each element comprising the song, they’re sparse and perhaps even simple sounding but when combined it’s rather complex, great composing production engineering and mastered. Just a f’ing awesome song

    • @1oolabob
      @1oolabob Год назад +8

The thing to notice here is that known wild man Keith Moon reserved his drumming for the rocking part of the song. Roger Daltrey kept the growl (mostly) out of his voice for the verses. The Who was well known for rowdy hard rocking, and in this song the tension created by calm and pretty verses was felt by every rocker who heard it. That's suspense, and frankly, great musicianship.

    • @robjordan9438
      @robjordan9438 Год назад +3

Yes tight as Moon's bass drum. Sparse and like most Who songs straight to the point. The sharp end of the stick. And the master songwriter, Townsend, is once again writing about himself. His blue eyes.

Through sports I was able to connect with our Father if he ever came around. But my brother Mike wasn't able to connect at all. He was left out on an island all alone. In turn he started to get in trouble as a young teen, ran away from home a couple times and ended up in children's homes. But we loved The Who TOGETHER. It was special. I have brown eyes, his eyes are blue. And I'm crying as I type this. Wow.

I thought they had their own tapes to listen to so, not wanting to be rude I just bought one....Animals by Pink Floyd. Unbelievably , they didn’t have any tapes. So , that tape stayed on continuous play. for the trip to and from the show. It never got old. I went to see the Who at Manchester Belle Vue in the winter of 1975 (I think). I remember the huge excitement I felt. Afterwards I couldn't get back to Bradford Uni so tried to sleep on a park bench, but it was sooo cold. At about 4 am I found an all-night café. Each tea did last an hour, and I did wander home alone - but happy. Years later I taught Roger Daltrey's son Jamie - nice lad, good family - very kind. Mum - Heather (I think). I was particularly obsessed with Quadrophenia - when I was 18 my schoolfriends organised a surprise party and gave me the double album. I was always too shy to ask Roger to sign my album for me. Such a shame. These were HUGE experiences... . I also taught Orlando Bloom - also a very nice lad.. but that's another story.
