This video is a little bit old. This is the best answer I have seen on RUclips about getting a Job with No Experience. You are being honest and real, unlike other videos talking about the same subject. I would like to add two more points.
1- You must build some type of network relationship. Most of the jobs come through them.
2- If you are over 45 years old? You really need to be an expert in your field and know it way more than the one who is going to interview you, or anyone in that company. Age Discrimination (Ageism) is real, and you will see it.

It also depends on the company's budget for that said position! Many companies, especially after this long pandemic, may not have the money to hire the top-notch developer so they might risk it with someone new with next to no experience with certs! After all, it is ALWAYS about the company's bottom line in the end and that primarily depends on their financial state, their goal, and their timeline.

    • @GoCloudArchitects
      @GoCloudArchitects  2 года назад +2

Hi Buddy Steve - I love the theory, but it generally doesn't work that way
Generally speaking in a bad economy you only hire the strongest candidates. It takes a tremendous amount of time to take a certified only person and teach them a skill. This is a very expensive process. Assume a minimum on 100K training costs. It will take 3-6 months to make the person effective in their roles, will need to sent for training, and will have to dedicate substantial time from full time staff to train the new person.
Now when you have great economy you have a bigger team. So you can afford to have your team spend time and effort mentoring. Junior people in a great economy are the the companies pipeline for future talent.
If your new you can still get hired. Easily. But you have to be great and capable and be so likeable they cant help but hire you. A list of the ideal skills are below!
      Great technical competency
      Great Attitude
      Great communication skills
      Great emotional intelligence
      Great interview skills
Great written and verbal communication skills

    • @GoCloudArchitects
      @GoCloudArchitects  3 года назад +1

If you have good soft skills that’s half the battle.
We find where most people struggle us that they don’t have the knowledge of the underlying technology. The cloud is a virtual data center and datacenter knowledge makes the cloud silly easy.
We created this video to teach people how to real experience at home on a lot of cloud/networking/datacenter technologies.

    Hello Mike,
    A Warm Greetings..!!
First of all Thanks a ton for your time & also for enlightening us with you precise & spot on thoughts.
If you don't mind? could you please guide me or probably help me to get some crystal clear clarity from the current ongoing career switch dilemma of mine? I mean to say, currently I carry an overall 6 years assistant managerial, employee retention & core U.S client coordination level work experience with an American Express & i graduated from an Arts stream (Pol Science Hons.) with a not to great 50% aggregate & to be fair, I seriously hate maths to the core which means I can't even think about "A.I, or M.L" as new career. I think specially in my scenario it will be a big career suicidal decision?
Mike, what shall I do & from where I shall I start?
    Best Regards,
    Amit Mehra.

I can understand why employers would be major proponents of so-called "internships" of people working for free because those same people orchestrated the destruction of the industrial base of the US in favor outsourcing to slave/low wage labor countries for the last 40 years; so now those ideas are coming home. What surprises me is how the workers themselves are embracing working for free under the vague notion they might gain experience to eventually get paid later. If you can get enough people to buy into the idea of having nothing and liking it then anything is possible, it becomes normalized.

I have no IT experience, my friend is a cloud engineer with a bachelor's in Information systems and technology. I only have my associate of science degree. I don't have the time to go back to college and pay for bills and rent although I would love to. I don't know where to even begin with entering this field. He gave me a few ideas like learning AWS or Azure but at some points while he was explaning this to me it was as if he was speaking Mandarin. I'm wondering if I should start here or just start with General IT to get the terminology down. He explained to look up A+, Network+ and Security + and to look up how to do contanerization. If i were to take this course would I even understand what is being explained and taught to me with no computer science background?

      Hi Vishwanath,
Of course you can work with the cloud.
I have taught 60 year olds cloud computing and they do very well.
The cloud is nothing more then a virtualized and highly simplified network and data center.
Now since the cloud is just a virtualized network and data center, those with a networking background are highly advantaged.
Seriously we teach people of all backgrounds cloud computing and cloud architecture.
But our program is extensive. We take at least 250 hours to teach our students cloud architects and the necessary skills to be successful as a cloud architect

    2. How to learn design solutions.

    • @GoCloudArchitects
      @GoCloudArchitects  2 года назад

      Hi,
      Great question.
Remembering the name of services isn't the issue. Its knowing what your are trying to accomplish.
What is it you need to meet the customer requirements? Is it network, storage, database etc
Lets just say you need a server on the cloud - you know you need a virtual machine. It doesn't matter whether you get an AWS EC2 instance, an Azure Virtual machine or something from Google compute engine.
What keeps AWS certified people from getting hired is they know the name of the services and how to configure them without knowing how the services work and why they are used.
Architecture is about knowing which tech component solves which problems. Not the name of any service. You can look that up quickly when you know exactly what you need.
Now we teach people how to design architectures. But prior to that we need to teach everything that makes the cloud work which is network and the datacenter. We have to do this as people cant design what they dont understand. Remember a cloud is just a virtual network and datacenter.
After someone knows all of the technology, then we teach how everything fits together as part of a complete system. That's the architecture training.
Now you can take a free architecture class with us if you desire and learn some architecture.
      www.gocloudarchitects.com/free-cloud-architect-experience-webinar/
Below is how we train our students.
That takes us about 250 hours on this with our students.

I am AWS certified solution architect associate and someone recommended me to go for AWS sysops adminstrator associate but why I should clear AWS all 3 base exam which is "solution architect associate, developer associate and sysops associate" when you want to become cloud architect, why not I choose to prepare for architect professional exam, little bit confused.

    • @GoCloudArchitects
      @GoCloudArchitects  2 года назад

      Hi Rahul,
We help people get hired. So here is our perspective.
We strongly advise against taking any of these other certifications unless you want to be sysops (maintenance) or software release (devops)
None of this helps with architecture.
So we are assuming you want to be a cloud architect or solutions architect.
Here is what happens when you do these unrelated Certified to your career.
Fist this will make your resume look unfocused which will make it harder for your to be hired.
Since it makes you look unfocused it often has a negative impact on salary.
For the three questions that this may help you with on the professional exam it will cost you six months for certifications not related to your career.
Instead we recommend spending this time learning the job you want. Assuming you want to be a cloud architect
Since the average cloud architect earns 600 dollars per day the time spent on this unrelated training costs most people about $72000 of lost income via opportunity cost.
So take the shortest distance between two stops and avoid the diversions. You get to the finish line a lot faster 😀

At the point that where the soft skills, presence and interview training and your knowledge comes into play.

We created this program as certification programs don’t teach architecture only the name of the service and how to configure those services.
Which while that’s helpful for the cloud engineer, it’s somehwat irrelevant for the cloud architect, solutions architect, enterprise architect whose careers are based upon system design and not configuration.

So our students do labs to learn the cloud and become a better architect. They even build a cloud from scratch.
In our experience, after interviewing over 1000 AWS certified people, configuring the cloud services is never the problem. It’s that none of the 1000 people could design an architecture.
So we teach our students how to build everything that makes the cloud possible, and then how build a cloud so they master the cloud.
As the whole job is taking things from the network and datcenter and migrating then to the cloud which is just a virtualized network and datacenter.
So our students design all solutions for aws plus hybrid cloud, multi clouds etc. which is the real job of the solutions architect.

We have a big focus on cloud security. A major focus here.
But if your on your own. We recommend doing the penetration testing labs that would would to to pass the CEH practical.
Learn networking at least how it works, up addressing, route filtering, traffic filtering and ACLs, NAT, private vlans, 802.1x etc
Then learn the cloud from a how the systems works perspective. Types of storage, virtual machines and containers, load balancers, VPNs, ideally even build a cloud.
Watch your knowledge and capabilities grow so fast and watch how great your career grows too
Focus on excellence and amazing things happen

Well we have Cloud Architects students that get hired every day. Most are not on H1b visas.
But everyone is capable, emotionally intelligent, with exceptional design skills, leadership skills, sales skills, and presentation skills.
We get them hired every day. We never have a salary problem.
It’s also illegal to pay less to those on H1b visas.
