    Thanks for all the comments everyone! FYI The song URN in full forms what is definitely the darkest song on this album forming an intense juxtaposition to the song EYRIE, which comes directly before it, which is one of the most melodic and progressive songs we've ever written. This album varies a lot from song to song, so to understand the full context of how all the pieces fit together....just wait another 2+ weeks and all will be revealed!

      This song is amazing. I like how different it is. I think it's stupid that everyone is complaining. Talking about lacking emotions and stuff? Screw them. I felt the emotions a lot. Especially at the very end when it became almost atmospheric. Frickin gold.

      This song may seem weird the first time you listen it because of its begining, but playing it after Urn (part I) makes everything fit in its place. I just think people hasted to comment and forgot to focus on the bigger picture which is the full album.

    • @NeObliviscaris
      @NeObliviscaris 6 лет назад +20

      It definitely should be listened to as a full 14min song without a doubt. The start of Part 2 makes a lot more sense coming out of the end of Part 1 as they appear on the album.

    LYRICS:
    Beneath aqueducts, anointed... we transfigure
    Within the void we are breathless, we are delivered
    Before the flame, we transcend
    Bearing light in hues of sunrise
    With devil'ed wings as wind torn shrouds
    Faithless decadence
    Together, forever... of all
    Tomorrow, we dream no more
    Our gods lay in quiescence
    The end, true freedom
    Baroque'n forms 'neath mourningstars
    Where the moon will wither
    Here, we are of the sun
    We become the earth
    Wounds of earth, purging fire… burning bloodstreams
    Bereft of pulse and light
    Crimson, gold, a new sun... empyreal
    Crimson, gold, one last sun to ember
    Dead seas of life
    Dead seas of life
    In shades of faceless grey, unto ashes
    Our dying memories, our faded lives
    Within this urn inversed, pain released
    We are the ones that were, what once was
    We are the ones that were, what once was

  • @lMarcusl
    @lMarcusl 2 года назад +3

    So far, every time a NeO song has grabbed me, it was for one of three reasons: the dichotomy of clean and harsh vocals (often even overlapped), contrast between sorrowful violin and incredible guitar melodies, or beautiful instrumental intermezzos, solos or intros (Forget Not, Tapestry, etc.) building up to an astounding crescendo. But damn, add a new one to the list: majestic clean vocals as the centrepiece of a song. Tim can really carry a piece when given the space to do so.

    To those people who are saying it's hard to top what Ne Obliviscaris did in Portal of I and Citadel and that this is lackluster...I sort of agree with the first part of such statement, but they have enough talent to outdo themselves . Think about Opeth when the band released Morningrise. Many would have thought the same, it was their masterpiece during that era, and maybe other band would have continued on without reaching the same level of quality... but what came next? More masterpieces: My Arms, Your Hearse, Still Life, Blackwater Park, Damnation, Ghost Reveries and even Watershed. So I invite to reconsider your position.

    • @timmyjenkins2864
      @timmyjenkins2864 6 лет назад +2

      YOU FORGOT ABOUT DELIVERANCE THAT IS A CARDINAL SIN.... =D All of the original Opeth albums kick fucking ass though. Cant really get on board with the new stuff though.

    • @volimNestea
      @volimNestea 6 лет назад +8

      It's not fair comparing most bands to Opeth in that regard. I can't think of a single band who've had eight consecutive albums of such high quality, the closest probably being Iron Maiden with seven. I will say however that if there is a band that can reach the same heights as Opeth, it has to be Ne Obliviscaris. Another thing to consider is the fact that Opeth used to release albums much more frequently than NeO. They were brilliantly efficient when it comes to songwriting.

    • @carloscarranza5987
      @carloscarranza5987 6 лет назад +2

      Sad to hear that. I really enjoy Heritage, Pale Communion and Sorceress. Hope the next Opeth album is as wicked and bizarre as Mikael promised!! "Something that's not for everyone...", but in the good sense!!

  • @sebastianarmas897
    @sebastianarmas897 6 лет назад +19

    Well, nevermind what I said, cuz we got another one anyway! I'm seeing a few complaints from people, saying that this album doesn't compare to The Portal of I or Citadel, but if you listen to those two albums, you will probably notice that those two albums are pretty different in style. They're changing their sound again to something more subtle and more keen to their own taste (with tighter performances,) kind of like what Leprous did with Malina, only with a darker feel (not to say that Malina wasn't dark, but it felt more melancholy than this, which just feels like pure darkness... which I like.)

  • @ElJuegoAlex
    @ElJuegoAlex 6 лет назад +29

    The standards are so fucking high on this band that even an incredible song like this doesn't feel as intricate as their previous work. Doesn't matter, this album is gonna be great.

  • @konmetafafal

    One thing that comes with getting appropriate revenue is getting fans that become less connected to the band and bitching about the music whenever band decides to go off standards. Fuck all those 'uninspiring' comments. This song is supposed to close the album and it really keeps the climate resonating after it's finished.

    • @luker.6967
      @luker.6967 6 лет назад +2

      Shred is Love, Shred is Life And calling this boring is ridiculous, it's the furthest NeO have strayed from their sound, making it MORE creative, not less.

    • @davidor1979
      @davidor1979 6 лет назад

      it is your point of view.
      I feel the opposite. these three songs (especially the last two released) give me the impression of a more "superficial" composition.
      the structures and arrangements of the first two albums are not even comparable to IMHO and in any case judging only these three songs.
      put aside the excitement of waiting for the new album and listen carefully.
      force NEO !!

    First time hearing this song was live. In my personal experience, it's sometimes more difficult to get into new songs live because you don't know a lot of a deeper and complex details. But this masterpiece grabs your attention and doesn't let go. Now it's easily one of my favorites of all time.

      Yes & No. Some parts yes, but if we had put up Eyrie instead of URN everyone would be saying wow this is really going to be such a melodic/prog album :p The reality lies somewhere in between as do most NeO albums.

  • @theinsanepollock7225

    For all those knocking this down yeah it's different for them. Not as melodic, a lot darker. But to me it's still damn good. I think the band will shut you naysayers up when you hear Libera Pt1 (I belong to their Patreon and heard samples of it, it's pure NeO and going to be glorious) and Eyrie (which from most reviews I've been reading is the stand out song on the album so it must be really good) keep in mind if they were to do a full album of complex long songs we would not have an album coming out in a few weeks. Let this one grow on you. Listen to Urn Pt1 and than this they meld so well together.

      but in the end it is a matter of taste, though the two previous albums have been comparable monsters (although Tim's voice, I don't like it); even if in my opinion, by now they have been made up of fans, it would be stupid not to use it; Sorry for creepy english

    I have only heard Intra Venus from Urn so far. I rather wait for the full album. Hopefully there are songs similar to Pyrrhic, though. Either way, I just can't wait for it to be released.

    I finally liked the two others song released after some listenning ,but this one ...I feel it's kind a bit off , It's lacking of progressive or emotionnal elements.I thinks it is a bit ...floppy.
    And I'm a little concern about this album, i Like Urn I and Intra Venus but they lack of the powerful emotions that carry the first two albums (and i did not like the drum sound ^^")
    But i Will see when they released it, I will not cancel my preorder ,I just need to find the key/mood to enjoy this album more,I think.

      Prynni Dood i thought the same about Citadel when they released the video for Curator, it only really 'clicked' for me after the rest of the album. i hope that's the case for Urn, too.

      I really hope that Urn reveal itself with the listenning of the entire album. I have faith in Ne O.^^

      I feel the opposite. This is the first one to stick with me on the first round. Intra Venus took some getting used to, and I think I flat out dislike Urn Pt. 1. But this feels like the inspired Ne O I know, even if it is significantly less flowery and lilting than old NeO

      Everyone has different expectation of what is good album from an artist.And Ne O his a great ,talented band so this album will find is public , but it might be possible that I will not be one of them...And that make me sad ^^".

    I loved Citadel and Portal of I, I consider the two of them among the best Metal albums ever made. And I really hate to critisize this... but Urn however, certainly won't be among my favourites. With each released song I am regretting my preorder more and more. It sounds uninspiring, and compared to great tracks like Citadel's "Devour me, Colossus (part 1)" very... pale.

      Completely agree. The songs they've released so far are all so boring. I never though I would say that about this band. I'll hold final judgement until the full album releases, though.

      Honestly, I think they made the right decision with Cyngus, as his behavior was super fucked up and not acceptable. Not really something you want associated with your band. But there's no denying he was a great bassist.
