Ben, yeah man you've got to rent a car and explore more of the country next time for sure. So freaking cool. More videos coming of my road trip showing lots more of the country. Quite an adventure, almost no tourists and tons of random little villages and abandoned decrepit buildings. Had a fun encounter with a drunk today too. You'd love it.

I don't know where you were on Tara, but you missed a lot of beautiful landscapes and views. Banjska stena, Kozija stena, Serbian Car , House on Drina, Zaovine Lake ...
Thats the problem! I had a lot of friends coming to Serbia and its super hard to navigate and they also missed a ton of beautiful stuff! Nismo onogucili turistima strancima da se sami lako snadju kao da mislimo da niko nikad kod nas vise nece doci niti dolazi.
He missed the whole Zlatibor, too. He didn't talk to people, he used Google Maps instead of Maps.Me and generally didn't prepare himself for the travel. The best moment: when he didn't recognize Che.

Hello Gabriel, Some places to recommend if you have not already been there:
South Central Serbia: Monastery Studenica (Unesco W. H.), Maglic Fortress, Monastery Zica were Serbian Kings were declared to Kings, Kopaonik National Park, Eastern Central Serbia: Lisine Waterfalls, Monastery Manasija with the great walls and old morava school, Resavska Cave, Resava Mines, Eastern Serbia: Smederevo with the great Fortress, Viminacijum old empire city, Djerdap National Park with the famous Iron Gate, Golubac Fortress, and Gamzigrad (Unesco w. H.) as well, nice to see is Oplenac with the tombs of the Kings, Rtanj Mountain, some kind of a pyramide like in Bosnia Visoko, uvac canyon, vratna gate, rajacke pivnice....
Boris, it looks like a super list. Been only to Gamzigrad (=Felix Romuliana) and Rtanj. The Iron Gate logistics seems time-consuming for DIY, perhaps a tour is a better option? Still probably worth a week or so :)

@Gabriel Traveler Also you should visit Vrnjacka banja, very nice place. It’s the most famous spa in Serbia under a Goc mountain. A lot of nice landscapes, monasteries(Zica monastery), wineries...

Land mines in Serbia? Maybe in Bosnia, parts of Croatia, maybe, I don't know... The war '91-'95 was not on Serbian territory, so no land mines on Tara...

One small correction... the war was on Serbian territory but not on territory of Republic of Serbia.
@@Goldie4tv Actually Croat and Bosniak forces used them against each other during the Croat-Muslim war in the middle of the Bosnian war.
Croat and Muslim fighting was some of the most intense and you had a much larger Bosniak army ARBiH against Croat villages in central Bosnia.
Mines are generally DEFENSIVE during a war and used to keep the enemy forces from overrunning or crossing into a territory.
Most of the mine deaths in Bosnia since the war have been from areas where the Croats and Muslims fought each other for 16 months in the middle of the Bosnian war.
Croats also mined Serbs farms/land in Croatia after they ethnically cleansed them so Serbs wouldn't come back.
Croats also poisoned the wells.
@Emmet Ray There was some un-exploded ordnance from the NATO bombing, including cluster bombs.

Gabriel, if you have a chance go visit city of Niš, full of historic sites including Niš fortress, church of Constantine , also Skull Tower is a stone structure embedded with human skulls located in Niš, Serbia. It was constructed by the Ottomans following the Battle of Čegar of May 1809, during the First Serbian Uprising. A lot of history there.

Mokra Gora has the famous train theŠargan Eight (Serbian: Шарганска осмица, romanized: Šarganska osmica) is a narrow-gauge heritage railway in Serbia (and the only in the world) , running from the village of Mokra Gora to Šargan Vitasi station.
Construction began during World War I and the plan was to connect Serbia with Austro-Hungary, which occupied both Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina at the time. Šargan was located 9 km (5.6 mi) away from the pre-war border.

One request if I may, and I think many people would love that and maybe would push your viewership even higher:
I know your videos are all different and 'little pieces of art' but would it be possible every time (and most of the time you do it) to show where you stay (room tour), what you eat (restaurant or even snack or sandwich) and where/how you do your grocery shopping.
I think many people really would love to see a grocery store tour in Croatia, a grocery store tour in Serbia and so on, showing some prices, food variety, etc. Those videos would get hundreds of thousands of views and hopefully new subscriber to help you grow even further.

Thank you Gabriel for these exceptional videos of Serbia! I was supposed to be there at the end of March but Europe was just starting their lockdown. I went from Morocco to Spain and ended up in Portugal (and then back to the US) because I couldn’t go any further. Anyway you are on the journey I hoped to be on and it’s so lovely seeing such a beautiful country through your lens. Thanks again!! :)

Hi Gabriel, Interesting drive into the unknown it's seems when you take these types of trips you find some interesting places to see. I like the scene when you went to open the door it seems like sometimes you forget where you are like there abandon places. It's always the journey that transcends you.

You should watch the movie by Boris Malagurski,, Kosovo, a moment of civilizacion "", to see our churches and monastery in Kosovo.
There is not land mines in Serbia, only some small part in Croatia and Bosnia, and you will see the warrning signs :).Only land mine you could find on that place where you was walking today is mine made by the cow or bear.

2.1 % (1000 km2) of the whole Bosnia and Herzegovina is covered in land mines,on 8.525 different locations. Number of suspected leftover mines is somewhere around 80.000. I wouldn't call that a "small part". After the war until now,1734 people have been injured by them,and 604 of them died,also another 123 deminers were injured,and 74 deminers were killed by land mines on the job.

A good tip is downloading the offline map area on the google maps app of places you plan to go where the connection may be spotty.
It comes in handy and you can easily delete it when youre done. It’s saved me many times, but that was before I had T-mobile
The app 'maps.me' is a good one too. It works offline.

The name of the river has reminded me of The Bridge on the Drina, the book by Ivo Andrić (Nobel Prize in Literature). Apparently, there is the mock-town Andrićgrad not far from Drvengrad, in Bosnia. Also by Kusturica.

Hey Gabe, I can’t remember if I mentioned but if you go somewhere for a long stay try Airbnb. Top tip: if you put in a monthly stay and move the map around the globe on Airbnb you’ll find top stays for $100-$300 a month! I had to rub my eyes cus I thought I was dreaming lol
Yeah I've made use of that a couple times just out of curiosity, but I never stay in one place for a month. Maybe one of these days.
if you plan to go to Northern Macedonia , don't miss the Šar Mountains with peaks over 2500-2700 m; pretty alpine scenery. There is a road from Tetovo to Popova Shapka (in winter skiresort), you can drive to 1700 m asl. From there you have some nice hiking trails.

oh i visited that Jarevac place on Tara but it was winter and it was amazing. personally, i think Tara is more popular in winter because it's not so urbanized so people looking for real winter vacation visit this place. Perućac lake is more popular in summer tho. Tara is a real mountain, luckily its not yet turned into urban place with expensive hotels and spas, like Zlatibor or Kopaonik. nice vlogs, btw

Not yet. There are restrictions on indoor places. Restaurants, bars, pubs that have outdoor sittings are open untill 23:00, for those that do not the limit is 21:00. But still there are places with open roofs with live music and a party vibe.
